What's the big deal about a President providing his/her Birth Certificate as documentation? Isn't that a requirement of Office? President Obama can clear up this once and for all...just show the paperwork. What I'm interested in seeing is his college transcript and if there may have been some confusion stated regarding his state/country of birth.

Hey NorCal, His birth certificate is posted online, and has been for more than a year. Geeez!
It's my understanding that the document posted is a Certificate of Live Birth, not a Birth Certificate. Big Difference.

Don't lose sight of the big picture and that is Jobs. Many small, medium and big companies have the money to hire additional employees, but they choose not to as they are fearful of the economy and the unsureness of how much they will have to pay in future payroll and income taxes as well as the cost of future health care for their employees. That's one reason that Cain's proposal is gaining some strength as unlike the other candidates as well as the Obama administration, Cain's proposal spells out how much taxes will have to be paid. Under Cain's program, business owners can feel more confident knowing how much overhead they will have with each new employee hired. I'll admit that Cain's proposal is not perfect and it needs some work, but from everything I'm hearing from the current administration as well as the candidates, Cain's proposal has a common sense element that could get our economy back on track.

Bigfoot, You are an admirable man. You stick to your guns no matter what. The fact is Obama has done a terrible job at just about every aspect of his job and his fellow Democrats in Congress haven't been much help. Repubs haven't been any better. Obama has saved nothing and done tons of damage. I have purposely been avoiding these threads because they are kinda upsetting. I get upset when I see my tax dollars being wasted. I get upset when I see our country declining. I get upset when 47% don't pay their fair share. It is upsetting to see money wasted on social programs that are supposed to bridge hard times and be a hand up but end up being a hand out for life and a perceived entitleent. It bothers me to see folks dressed to the nines, hair all fancied up, tons of bling yacking on a cell phone and paying for food with food stamps. Alot of things upset me. Illegal immigration upsets me. The suggestion of re-distribution of wealth bothers me as it suggests folks can take without earning. Bailouts, Solyndra, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank nd Tom Coburn uset me. Socialism and non emergency abortion bother me as does the EPA.... It all bothers me..especially weak kneed liberals..
This is my nomination for The VOG Political Post Of The Year. Very well said.

From email: An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.... After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that.

NorCal, the problem with our "test" is that the 1% wrote it and they are the only ones that can afford a #2 pencil. Some republicans are catching on that the 99% are real and they aren't going away. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2106826

An interesting point was raised concerning Cain's 999 plan. A person who presently has $1,000,000 in the bank would, on the day this passed, have an instant tax on that money of 9% as soon as they tried to spend it.
And, if you only have $1,000 in the bank and make a purchase, that person will have to pay the tax as well. It's the great equalizer...everyone pays. Even undocumented workers or workers who are being paid under the table will be contributing to our economy with a fair sales tax. While I'm sure this 9-9-9 plan will evolve and some modifications will be made, it seems to be an acceptable plan as it eliminates the IRS and will make it easier for everyone, no matter how much they make, to contribute to our economy.

Send your money to Republican Presidential candidate Buddy Roemer. He only accepts donations of $100 or less. This keeps the Plutocrats and Aristocrats out of influence in his campaign. It also assures the Plutocrats and Aristocrats that Buddy will never get on the debate stage. http://www.buddyroemer.com/
Just four years ago, wasn't that the same line that Mr. Obama was saying. Wasn't he telling us that his average donation was less than $100? In reality, he ended up spending nearly $1B (yes Billion $) getting elected. Simple math will tell you that the vast majority of those funds came from special interest groups and large corporations. Remember, we're dealing with Politicians who tailor speeches to say what that specific audiences want to hear. On a related note, do you think the OWS groups should be demonstrating against this super rich NBA team owners? How dare they attempt to make a profit from those poor, deprived basketball players! P.S. Mr. Bigfoot, you should really try to use this site's quote and multi quote system. It's quite easy to use! If you can't figure it out, PM me and I'll be happy to help.

A closer look @ the folks Biggie, Obama & Pelosi support. Doug Schoen (Bill Clinton's pollster), had his firm interview the OWS folks - here is his revealing article - in the Wall Street Journal. Doug Schoen concludes: Obama is making a critical error embracing OWS. (Keep doing it) 1. The OWS movement is dangerously out of touch with the broad mass of American people. 2. The OWS folks are deeply committed to radical, left wing policies. 3. OWS is not ideologically diverse. 4. OWS believes in radical redistribution of wealth. 5. OWS believes in civil disobedience. 6. 31% believe in violence to advance their agenda. 7. Vast majority of OWS protestors ARE employed. 8. 15% of OWS protestors not employed. 9. Overwhelming majority of OWS folks supported Obama in 2008. 10. 51% of OWS disapprove of Obama now. 11. 44% of OWS say they will vote to re-elect Obama in 2012. 12. A few items bind the OWS protestors together: A. Deep commitment to left wing policies. B. Opposition to free market capitalism. C. Support for radical redistribution of wealth. D. Intense regulation of the private sector. E. Protectionist policies to keep jobs from going overseas. F. 65% of OWS say the Govt. has a moral obligation to provide affordable health care, college education & secure retirement - No Matter the Cost. 13. 77% OWS support raising taxes on the wealthy. 14. 58% OWS oppose raising taxes on everybody - "get them, not me." 15. Basically 50/50 on whether bailouts were necessary. 16. OWS folks are disillusioned with the capitalistic system - identify as progressives (liberals) "Polling the Occupy Wall Street Crowd" October 18, 2011 In interviews, protesters show that they are leftists out of step with most American voters. Yet Democrats are embracing them anyway. By DOUGLAS SCHOEN President Obama and the Democratic leadership are making a critical error in embracing the Occupy Wall Street movement-and it may cost them the 2012 election. Last week, senior White House adviser David Plouffe said that "the protests you're seeing are the same conversations people are having in living rooms and kitchens all across America. . . . People are frustrated by an economy that does not reward hard work and responsibility, where Wall Street and Main Street don't seem to play by the same set of rules." Nancy Pelosi and others have echoed the message. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204479504576637082965745362.html
The OWS crowd is starting to remind me of the 1968 movie Wild In The Streets. That movie coined the phrase "Don't Trust Anyone Over 30" and has some amazing similarities to the mentality of the OWS protestors.

The main thing the OWS wants is an end to Plutocracy. (government by the wealthy)
Isn't that the same thing Mr. Obama campaigned for...to end Putocracy? Then spent nearly a billion dollars getting elected? How's that working out for us? While I don't see any "Rockefellers" running for President, it sure would be nice to have someone in Office who has experience running a business. Not to bash our President (after all, he is OUR President), but how in the world can anyone expect someone who has never had a job to create jobs?

I don't understand where you get the 27% in additional taxes from? References please. If you would give the poor the choice of paying "X" amount of Federal Taxes so that they would have Health Care, Free college eductions for their children, and Social Security for all as we know it, they would buy into the deal. I've shown before that raising Social Security's top taxation level to $120,000 from it's present $107,000 would fully fund it for at least 40 additional years. That is not such a big leap. It certainly beats the HELL out of what the 999 plan would do to the poor. I don't really have a dog in this fight because I have UNION provided health care and pension, and my children are both done with their 4 years of college.
First, allow me to thank Mr. Bigfoot for properly using the VOG quote button. It is greatly appreciated. Now, that I've been sucked into this thread, I have to ask a question: When it comes to Free College Education, why is that the responsibility of Federal Government? If any governing power sould be responsible for that, wouldn't that be the responsibility of an individual State? Isn't that why they have State Colleges and Universities? Don't most states offer college tuition savings programs that allow parents to save a little bit each year and guarantee their children a college education? If parents don't plan and save, should the Federal Government have to be responsible for educating their children? Instead, can't these kids join the Military and learn skills? Wouldn't that be better than attempting to cause disruption to businesses who are employing others? And, you do have a dog in this fight as isn't your pension subject to taxation?

Because I am a secular humanist (I do good for goodness sake, not because I fear eternal damnation), I have already stated that I am willing to be taxed an additional 5%.
Would you consider paying your pro rata share of the Country's debt? I don't think that 5% would cut it. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I was taught that All Men Are Created Equally. I guess that doesn't hold true when it comes to everyone paying their fair share of taxes. The days of free rides are over. After watching last night's debates, I'm thinking a good team might be Cain and Gingrich. Both bring a different expertise to the party.

While I am glad that we live in a country that allows for peaceful protests, I am stumped at what the OWS demonstrators are attempting to accomplish. It seems that their agenda is being formulated on the fly. It appears they are an offshoot of the flash-mob craze that used to entertain passersby at the local mall and are simply students of the school of Twitter and Facebook and are seeking instant gratification and a free ride in life. Hey, nothing in life is free and the only two things that you can count on are death and taxes. How did our Government get to the point where the wealthy are carrying the lion share of the load? Shouldn't everyone pay? When I was living on small paychecks, I paid taxes. When did this change? For some reason, the OWS demonstrators want me to feel bad that I worked hard and became successful. They want me to feel guilty that I worked two jobs to support my Wife and newborn Son and then took risks by starting my own business while I expanded my family. I had sleepless nights worrying that the risks I was taking would someday payoff. It took years, but they did. They make me out to be a villain because my business became successful and they aren't giving me any credit for working 14 hour days to make by business succeed. They forget that after I created a job for myself, that I created jobs for others. When the times were lean, the employees got paid first and if there was anything left, it either went back into the business or for my family's essentials. When I first started out, good jobs were hard to find, so I, like many others, started our my business and created my own destiny. I could have easily gone the same route as some of my high school buddies and taken that safe union job at the (now closed) plant, but instead I wanted more for my family and I took risks. I saved my money and invested wisely. I didn't take a second mortgage out on my house so that I could buy a new car, instead, I drove my car a few years extra and used the money to payoff my house. Then I got lucky as after many years of hard work, my business started paying me dividends. I now have the pleasure of having multiple cars and motorcycles in my garage. I didn't borrow money to buy them as I was taught that if you can't afford it, don't buy it. So Mr. Bigfoot, why am I the bad guy to this new generation? Why do they feel entitled to what I earned? What happened to working hard to make a better life for yourself?

I started this company 12 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300 square foot studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living space was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I spent went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a defective transmission. I didn't have time to date. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business -- hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest $50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting Nordstrom's for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the Goodwill store extracting any clothing item that didn't look like it was birthed in the 70's. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business --- with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had. So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9 am, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5 pm, I don't. There is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, ****, and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to me like a 1 day old baby. You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house, the Mercedes, the vacations... You never realize the back story and the sacrifices I've made. Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bail out all the people who didn't.
Great letter. Thanks for posting it. From a business owner's perspective, I fully understand where he is coming from. Maybe those who work for others will have a new respect for those who sign the paychecks.
