Bridges are paid for with motor fuel taxes. Ron Paul isn't saying no taxes he is saying no IRS. It's real simple, he's the only good man in the race. Listen to Dr. Paul and learn. We are at the end of time folks. This is not the time to be arguing but coming together and abolishing the things we cannot afford, like useless wars, all of them in fact. America is on the brink of disaster and folks here are fighting among themselves. Is it any wonder we are in the mess we are in. Very sad state of affairs. We as a nation deserve to be a third world garbage dump.

While I am glad that we live in a country that allows for peaceful protests, I am stumped at what the OWS demonstrators are attempting to accomplish. It seems that their agenda is being formulated on the fly. It appears they are an offshoot of the flash-mob craze that used to entertain passersby at the local mall and are simply students of the school of Twitter and Facebook and are seeking instant gratification and a free ride in life. Hey, nothing in life is free and the only two things that you can count on are death and taxes. How did our Government get to the point where the wealthy are carrying the lion share of the load? Shouldn't everyone pay? When I was living on small paychecks, I paid taxes. When did this change? For some reason, the OWS demonstrators want me to feel bad that I worked hard and became successful. They want me to feel guilty that I worked two jobs to support my Wife and newborn Son and then took risks by starting my own business while I expanded my family. I had sleepless nights worrying that the risks I was taking would someday payoff. It took years, but they did. They make me out to be a villain because my business became successful and they aren't giving me any credit for working 14 hour days to make by business succeed. They forget that after I created a job for myself, that I created jobs for others. When the times were lean, the employees got paid first and if there was anything left, it either went back into the business or for my family's essentials. When I first started out, good jobs were hard to find, so I, like many others, started our my business and created my own destiny. I could have easily gone the same route as some of my high school buddies and taken that safe union job at the (now closed) plant, but instead I wanted more for my family and I took risks. I saved my money and invested wisely. I didn't take a second mortgage out on my house so that I could buy a new car, instead, I drove my car a few years extra and used the money to payoff my house. Then I got lucky as after many years of hard work, my business started paying me dividends. I now have the pleasure of having multiple cars and motorcycles in my garage. I didn't borrow money to buy them as I was taught that if you can't afford it, don't buy it. So Mr. Bigfoot, why am I the bad guy to this new generation? Why do they feel entitled to what I earned? What happened to working hard to make a better life for yourself?
NorCal, do you have K Street people working the halls of Congress to get bills and tax laws bent in the direction your business would like? If not, then welcome to the 99%. Are you donating in excess of one million dollars to a political party to purchase political influence? If not, welcome to the 99%. Are you spending your money on voter suppression? If not, welcome to the 99%.

Negative. Wrongo Bongo. You get a lot of things wrong - this is another example. Ron Paul wants to eliminate the "Income Tax." There lots of other kinds of taxes - those would fund the Federal Govt. On November 20, 2008 Ron Paul said in New York Times : "I want to abolish the income tax, but I don't want to replace it with anything. About 45 percent of all federal revenue comes from the personal income tax. That means that about 55 percent - over half of all revenue - comes from other sources, like excise taxes, fees, and corporate taxes. We could eliminate the income tax, replace it with nothing, and still fund the same level of big government we had in the late 1990s. We don't need to "replace" the income tax at all. I see a consumption tax as being a little better than the personal income tax, and I would vote for the Fair-Tax if it came up in the House of Representatives, but it is not my goal. We can do better."

Mitt Romney is worth $200 million. His business experience includes buying up companies, laying off workers, then busting the companies up into smaller companies and making huge personal profits. (Baine corp) Video below; http://greenleegazette.blogspot.com/2011/06/stephen-colbert-illustrates-mitt_10.html
There is nothing wrong with what Mitt Romney did. My brother is a partner with 3 other Attorney's & CPA's. They look for distressed companies that are going under (that's the part you left out), they evaluate, and if possible to rescue or create something out of it - buy it. They turn the companies around - sometimes sell them off - sometimes re-invent the company by downsizing, spinning off, or sometimes they keep them & run them for years. It's called business - being an entrepreneur. They rescue & create. And yes - the deadwood gets fired. Sorry Bigfoot - it's not a protected Union world out there - you must produce (like the NFL) or you are replaced. There are rewards - there are risks. It's the Economic Engine that has made America great. It's what Steve Jobs did & we now have Apple & all their great products.

Ron Paul's view on Taxation - On May 7, 2001, Ron Paul wrote the following column: The Case Against the Income Tax Could America exist without an income tax? The idea seems radical, yet in truth America did just fine without a federal income tax for the first 126 years of its history. Prior to 1913, the government operated with revenues raised through tariffs, excise taxes, and property taxes, without ever touching a worker's paycheck. In the late 1800s, when Congress first attempted to impose an income tax, the notion of taxing a citizen's hard work was considered radical! Public outcry ensued; more importantly, the Supreme Court ruled the income tax unconstitutional. Only with passage of the 16th Amendment did Congress gain the ability to tax the productive endeavors of its citizens. Yet don't we need an income tax to fund the important functions of the federal government? You may be surprised to know that the income tax accounts for only approximately one-third of federal revenue. Only 10 years ago, the federal budget was roughly one-third less than it is today. Surely we could find ways to cut spending back to 1990 levels, especially when the Treasury has single year tax surpluses for the past several years. So perhaps the idea of an America without an income tax is not so radical after all. The harmful effects of the income tax are obvious. First and foremost, it has enabled government to expand far beyond its proper constitutional limits, regulating virtually every aspect of our lives. It has given government a claim on our lives and work, destroying our privacy in the process. It takes billions of dollars out of the legitimate private economy, with most Americans giving more than a third of everything they make to the federal government. This economic drain destroys jobs and penalizes productive behavior. The ridiculous complexity of the tax laws makes compliance a nightmare for both individuals and businesses. All things considered, our Founders would be dismayed by the income tax mess and the tragic loss of liberty which results. America without an income tax would be far more prosperous and far more free, but we must be prepared to fight to regain the liberty we have lost incrementally over the past century. I recently introduced "The Liberty Amendment," legislation which would repeal the 16th Amendment and effectively abolish the income tax. I truly believe that real tax reform, reform that so many frustrated Americans desperately want, requires bold legislation that challenges the Washington mind set. Congress talks about reform, but the current tax debate really involves nothing of substance. Both parties are content to continue tinkering with the edges of the tax code to please various special interests. The Liberty Amendment is an attempt to eliminate the system altogether, forcing Congress to find a simple and fair way to collect limited federal revenues. Most of all, the Liberty Amendment is an initiative aimed at reducing the size and scope of the federal government. Is it impossible to end the income tax? I don't believe so. In fact, I believe a serious groundswell movement of disaffected taxpayers is growing in this country. Millions of Americans are fed up with the current tax system, and they will bring pressure on Congress. Some sidestep Congress completely, bringing legal challenges questioning the validity of the tax code and the 16th Amendment itself. Ultimately, the Liberty Amendment could serve as a flashpoint for these millions of voices.

So Many enemy (Marxists) in such a few places. OWS, O-Raleigh, O-Toledo......ect. (sigh). Can't we just Load up a few magazines and light them up with some AR14's tonight, and just hose the place down in the morning. Seems a whole lot easier to me. At least Obama is consistent - consistently awful regarding the Economy. "US 'Misery Index' Rises to Highest Since 1983" Published: Thursday, 20 Oct 2011 | 8:24 AM ET "An unofficial gauge of human misery in the United States rose last month to a 28-year high as Americans struggled with rising inflation and high unemployment. The misery index - which is simply the sum of the country's inflation and unemployment rates - rose to 13.0, pushed up by higher price data the government reported on Wednesday. The data underscores the extent that Americans continue to suffer even two years after a deep recession ended, with a weak economic recovery imperiling President Barack Obama's hopes of winning reelection next year." http://www.cnbc.com/id/44970105

To All My Valued Employees, There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this company, and more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy has changed for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the good news is this: The economy doesn't pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is the changing political landscape in this country. Of course, as your employer, I am forbidden to tell you whom to vote for - it is against the law to discriminate based on political affiliation, race, creed, religion, etc. Please vote for who you think will serve your interests the best. However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in your best interest. First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against employees, you have to understand that for every business owner there is a back story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside. You saw my big home at last years Christmas party. I'm sure all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealized thoughts about my life. However, what you don't see is the back story. I started this company 12 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300 square foot studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living space was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I spent went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a defective transmission. I didn't have time to date. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business -- hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest $50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting Nordstrom's for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the Goodwill store extracting any clothing item that didn't look like it was birthed in the 70's. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business --- with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had. So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9 am, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5 pm, I don't. There is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, ****, and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to me like a 1 day old baby. You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house, the Mercedes, the vacations... You never realize the back story and the sacrifices I've made. Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of my life for. Yes, business ownership has its benefits but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you, is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell you why: I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don't pay enough. I have state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and use taxes. Payroll taxes. Workers compensation taxes. Unemployment taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire a tax man to manage all these taxes and then guess what? I have to pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and regulations and all the accounting that goes with it, now occupy most of my time. On Oct 15th, I wrote a check to the US Treasury for $288,000 for quarterly taxes. You know what my "stimulus" check was? Zero. Nada. Zilch. The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000 people per year with a flourishing business? Or, the single mother sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her next welfare check? Obviously, government feels the latter is the economic stimulus of this country. The fact is, if I deducted (Read: Stole) 50% of your paycheck you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? That's nuts. Who wants to get rewarded only 50% of their hard work? Well, I agree which is why your job is in jeopardy. Here is what many of you don't understand .. to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Had suddenly government mandated to me that I didn't need to pay taxes, guess what? Instead of depositing that $288,000 into the Washington black-hole, I would have spent it, hired more employees, and generated substantial economic growth. My employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But you can forget it now. When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don't defibrillate and shock his thumb thinking that will bring him back to life, do you? Or, do you defibrillate his heart? Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. Suddenly, the power brokers in Washington believe the mud of America are the essential drivers of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change you can keep. So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be swift and simple. I fire you. I fire your co-workers. You can then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and your child's future. Frankly, it isn't my problem any more. Then, I will close this company down, move to another country, and retire. You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship. While tax cuts to 95% of America sounds great on paper, don't forget the back story: If there is no job, there is no income to tax. A tax cut on zero dollars is zero. So, when you make decision to vote, ask yourself, who understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn't? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of saving your job. While the media wants to tell you "It's the economy Stupid" I'm telling you it isn't. If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the economy; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country, steamrolled the Constitution, and will have changed its landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me in the South Caribbean sitting on a beach, retired, and with no employees to worry about. Signed, Your boss, Michael A. Crowley, PE Crowley, Crisp & Associates, Inc. Great letter. Thanks for posting it. From a business owner's perspective, I fully understand where he is coming from. Maybe those who work for others will have a new respect for those who sign the paychecks.

To All My Valued Employers. Thank you for your words explaining your life story and how you got where you are today. Yes, we have been "rumbling" about the future of this company because we are paid at existence level wages and if the company goes under, we will all be up the creek - but we will take comfort in knowing that you took the paddle with you. At least we'll know it's safe. You'll be pleased to know that your Toyota Corolla is still serving even though you dumped it for the new Mercedes you get every year - you see, I drive it here to work every day. It's all I can afford, but it gets me here and back so that I may make the products you sell which enable your nice house and new car. Oh, and the transmission is still defective. Wish I could afford to get it fixed; it's a good, dependable car and with what YOU pay, I can't afford a newer one. We appreciate that you acknowledge our sacrifices in life so that you might live more prosperously, even though you appear to have nothing but contempt for your employees with your implication that we don't actually do any work, all we do is show up and expect a paycheck. Yet, there is still product flowing out the door. Thank goodness for Magical Elves doing all the work, huh? So, 28 years ago your friends were making a "modest" $50k per year at only 40 hours per week...are there any of those jobs still available? We ask because it would be a step up from the job we have with you that pays $28k for 40 hours. (And that's in TODAY'S economy.) Oh, and we stay at home weekends a lot, too. We would date more, but for some reason, the people we date don't appreciate a Big Mac dining experience the way folks used to. Now the economy is falling apart and you are asking the people who keep income flowing your way to sacrifice so you can still get your new car next year. As you say, you have, "state taxes, Federal taxes, Property taxes, Sales and use taxes, Payroll taxes, Workers compensation taxes, Unemployment taxes, Taxes on taxes. I have to hire a tax man to manage all these taxes and then guess what? I have to pay taxes for employing him." Oddly, all of those items help your bottom line because you deduct them from YOUR taxes and take your depreciation allowance, interest deductions, and all those other expenses of running your business. I used to be able to deduct my mortgage interest, but since the interest rates rose faster than my pay, the foreclosure ended that. My landlord still gets HIS deduction, though, thank goodness! You may want to check to see if your accountant is stealing from you because it's impossible for 14 of us to rack up $21,000 EACH in tax requirements during the last quarter. For someone who seems obsessed with their business, you are fairly oblivious to what's going on with your finances. Of the $288,000 you say you deposited, how much of it will you be getting back when you file you taxes and deduct every penny of it? That single mother pregnant with her fourth child waiting for a welfare check? Well, she used to work here, but was fired when her babysitter got sick and your reaction was that it wasn't your problem. She's been trying ever since to get a job but when people see she was fired, they assume it was due to nefarious reasons. And thanks to the welfare reforms passed over a decade ago, she has a limited time to collect those safety net checks before she is cut loose to swim on her own or drown. What color Mercedes are you going with this year, by the way? Why was it when George Bush gave you the tax cuts you desired, instead of raising our wages or hiring new employees, you put that money in your pocket? Incredibly stimulating, wasn't it? What in the world would lead us to think that you would do anything differently if you receive another round of tax cuts? Would you start offering affordable health care? Didn't think so. If you don't think the "poor" run our economic engine, try running a business WITHOUT them. Who do you think you are selling your product to? Who does the work which enables you to live the lifestyle you've become accustomed to? Yet you disrespect our contributions and accuse us of defrauding you because we have the nerve to want to be paid for our efforts. (You know, we are called THE WORKING CLASS for a REASON). So, if you only make 3/4 of a million dollars instead of the full million, your motivation to work and to provide jobs will disappear and you will run off to another country, huh? And you expect us to blame the GOVERNMENT? What a whiny, snivelling, greedy, inconsiderate coward you are! You make it clear that you DON'T give a damn about your employees and their worries were NEVER yours, yet you don't mind exploiting us for every penny you can gather. So, close your company, move to another country, and retire. Spend the riches we have helped you to accumulate. Turn your back on your country - we'll be better off without you. We're at a time when everyone needs to pitch in together to fix the problems the "Free Market" has caused and if you would rather cry in your Dom about how abused YOU are because you can only have steak four times a week instead of five, don't let America's door hit you in the ass on your way out... Bigfoot! You are hilarious! I get it now. You spew this left wing garbage just to keep things stirred up! Funny. Like me, you probably have never started or run a business. You have been comfortable and secure living and working under the safety net of a Union job. You honestly can't beleive the stupidity you utter...can you? Hell, you could be work at the White House and fit right in. My man, you are about as far off base as anyone I have ever met and lost as last years Easter egg. I know, its all a joke, you're a laugh a minute. Now please put the kool aid down and step away from the bar! hahaha

I think I had posted, in Response to Mark, about why Businesses were not reinvesting. Rather they are keeping their cash on the sidelines. My point back then, was that this administration has such an anti-business atittude during his FIRST four years, God knows what is on his hit list for another term! With four years where he will not be concerned in the least with what "The People" want, he'll be free to seriously cripple certain sectors of our economy. I posted this letter because it acurately reflects what those who have money might be thinking. If this administration so regulates and taxes his business to the point where it's worth more to the Government than to him........Why WOULDN'T he close up shop? What would be the point in taking any further risk, not to mention putting in the hard work, just to watch it evaporate on April 15th? Yes, the letter was a touch pissy towards some of his employees. No doubt he's been hearing some bitching about how much they DON'T get. I don't know for sure. I know this though. It'll be harder for the next generation to do what he did. This Government will make damn sure the next business owner isn't rewarded nearly as well as he has been. As a consequence, there will be fewer of them. If sticking your neck out and working hard doesn't pay off, then why do it? So the next generation of employee will have fewer job prospects. I mean, doesn't it follow? Fewer employers naturally will mean fewer jobs available. All because of what? All because some big hairy jealous bastard and his palls resented the fact that they didn't have what it takes to get rich themselfs. I wish I was in this mans position. Sadly I'll be stuck here having to listen to lifes loosers of OWS like you. Mayberry

We're at a time when everyone needs to pitch in together to fix the problems the "Free Market" has caused and if you would rather cry in your Dom about how abused YOU are because you can only have steak four times a week instead of five, don't let America's door hit you in the a$$ on your way out... Putz. Signed, The hard working employees who keep your company going
By the way. Shouldn't your last line read. "The hard working FORMER employes who USE TO keep your company going"???? Mayberry

Here's one for ya Biggie - a Democratic Congressman telling it like it REALLY is with Obama: "Announcing Retirement, Dem Congressman Bashes Obama" By Jessica Taylor and Billy House October 20, 2011 | 11:16 AM | 290 Comments Rep. Dennis Cardoza, D-Calif., announced his retirement from Congress this afternoon -- and he issued a scathing parting shot at President Obama's track record on his way out. In a statement explaining his decision, Cardoza, a leader of the centrist Blue Dog Coalition, said he was "dismayed" by the administration's "failure to understand and effectively address the current housing foreclosure crisis." "Home foreclosures are destroying communities and crushing our economy, and the Administration's inaction is infuriating," Cardoza said. A former chairman of the moderate Blue Dog Caucus, Cardoza also bemoaned the increasing partisanship in Washington, and blamed the media for fueling the ideological divide in the country, not giving enough attention to moderates. Cardoza is the sixth member -- all Democrats -- to announce plans to retire outright so far. He's also the third member of the Blue Dog Caucus to head for the exits -- joining fellow moderate Reps. Dan Boren, D-Okla., and Mike Ross, D-Ark. The five-term congressman had become an increasingly-vocal critic of his own party's leadership in recent months, fueled by the skyrocketing unemployment in his Central Valley district. He's previously criticized the administration on its handling of the foreclosure crisis - but it's rare to see a departing congressman blast the president in an official statement.

Chew on this fact; The median income fell in 2010 for the second year in a row to $26,364, a 1.2 percent drop from 2009, and the lowest level since 1999, according to David Cay Johnston at Reuters. Half of our fellow citizens are trying to live on this paltry amount, OR LESS! The phrase, median income, means half make less, half make more. We are now a third world economy. Our economy has always been based on consumption by the middle class. We no longer have a middle class, we have "HAVES" and "HAVE NOTS". (50/50) Remember, the top 400 individuals have more accumulated wealth than the bottom 50% or our country's citizens. I wrote almost a year ago about how I'd heard talks of revolution and anarchy in heavy metal concerts. I stated that the riots from this revolution would make all our past riots seem like school yard fights. I jokingly stated that you should get more security for your gated communities. It's no longer a joke. Shawn, what you posted is all over the internet as a mass mailing. 99% of mass mailings are BS. If it is true, then I would tell this whining SOB to pack his crappy little company up and get the Hell out of our country and don't let the door hit you in your ass. You make threats about leaving our country, I'll call your baseless bluff. Taxes are at the lowest level in 60 years and he doesn't know what the frack he's talking about.

Yep - agree 100%. Let's see, who's been in the Whitehouse, and in control of the Senate & the House of Representatives during 2009 & 2010? Hmmmm ...... that's right - Obama, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid. Interesting you point this out Biggie. Thank you.

NorCal - thank you for the clip. Over & over again we see the disastrous results of "pie in the sky" liberal policies. Look @ Greece, Venezuela & Italy - disasters. Look @ the USA the last 3 years. In every category things have gotten worse under Obama. But wait! There's more! It's George Bush's fault. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Suhweeeet!

I wonder how often employees take the time to thank their employers for taking the risks that provide stable jobs, steady incomes, safe working environments and the numerous perks that come with their jobs? Or, instead do the employees just complain that their boss is an idiot?
