I'm installing heated grips on a '13 XC, but the wiring has me confused. The instructions say to hook up the Blue & Brown wires (Black to Ground) to their corresponding wires in the main harness.

Well I couldn't locate them so I downloaded the Service Manual wiring diagrams and it only shows the Blue being connected. In the drawing at the top, but the Brown is used in the legend at the bottom.

I hooked up the Blue wire to +12v & the Black wire to ground and the switch works fine. The temp is 125 degrees on low & 150 on high.

Any electrical gurus want to chime in and tell what is happening?

Thanks, but I watched that one. Wrong model & my question isn't covered. What's the Brown wire for?

No guru answers for you however there is a video out there of the install.
Timely post as I am considering heated grips for my XR. Thanks.

I'm a bit stumped though (not unusual), the switch he installed only had 2 positions, Hi and Low. No off. Does that mean that the grips are always going to be running on at least low? That would suck in the summer time.

Switch only says Hi and low but the center possition is off. All the connections are in the headlight bucket on the XR. Just plug and play if you use the Victory heated grips. Don't forget to order the switch bracket when you get the grips.

10/4. Thanks much. It looked like a simple rocker switch with no center stop point.

Appreciate the help.

The stock heated grips go on nice. The connectors are loose, individual connectors on the left side inside the bucket as stated. And as to the other question, the schematic you are looking at is not the actual wiring but the drawing of the idea of how the wiring works. It shows you the logic. All you need is power and a return path. If you can't find the proper connectoors, be careful what you tap into. You could overload a circuit or have continuous power and drain the battery if you forget to turn them off. The power goes to the center switch position and then you send it to the high or low resistance from there by moving the switch. The return path comes fromthe grips and goes to ground.Onthe "computer side of things",the circuithot gets fused and the computer switches the neutral/ground. I am also not a guru but that's my understanding. There are similarities to some industrial controllers I have worked with. See if you can locate a CC owner near you that has the heated grips and is also willing to give peek at the hook up. One peek is worth a thousand guesses!:) Spence
