My buddy works at a Vic dealership. For the past couple of weeks, he kept mentioning "just wait for Fall". Finally, last night he said there may be Vic competition for the Indian Scout. Hmmmm...

I do not get the idea of one company, pitting one section of that one company against another section of the one company.... I have said it before and will say it again, if Polaris wants to be the king/chief of the motorcycle industry then it has to stop fighting it self before it will really make a dent in the only other American manufacturer of motorcycles.... And yes I am aware of a couple of freelance mobs making bikes out there as well.....

I think the Octane may be Polaris' worst kept secret, although the Slingshot was pretty well leaked too. The VP is already on record saying a Victory based off the Project 156 bike would be released sometime in 2016. Listening to the CEO's Q2 stock report, trying to put puzzle pieces together, I think the bike was ready to be released last month as a new 2016, but the plant was not. They made huge updates to the factory last year and the CEO pretty much said they didn't spend enough money to do it right the first time. Seems the upgrades need the bugs worked out and in the meantime they can't meet existing demand. I speculate a strategic decision was made not to release a new model until they're better prepared to meet demand.

Personally I think a lighter, faster, cheaper bike will be cool and sell a lot. I probably won't buy one. I rode the Scout, it's definitely cool and fun. But not as cool or as fun, for me, as my Kingpin. So I probably won't be in the market for an offering like that. On the other hand, a new Vision might peak my interest. The one I have now is great, but something's missing. When I ride a BMW K1600 GTL, something's missing from it too. But where the Vision lacks the GTL excels and where the GTL lacks the Vision excels. Show me a Vision 2.0 that looks as good and is as comfortable as the current one. Now add perfectly fitting bodywork that doesn't squeak and rattle. Then add a silky smooth and quiet power plant with gobs of power. Now you have the best of both bikes. That might get me to trade.

Gm has done it for 50 years. It drives motivation and is a win for the overall company either way.

Only a new Vision would entice me to fork over the cash for a new bike.
Keep the styling as is.
Add tire pressure monitors, better stereo, internal handlebar wiring, much better fit and finish, LED lighting all around, and a new one piece front fender design.

I'm doubtful we'll see the octane or whatever it's called. Everyone speculated about a liquid-cooled redesigned vision too. There were pics of the slingshot online months before its release. Where's the Octane?

Keep the Vision as is, improve the fit and finish, wiring, integrated electronics and cooling of the 106 or larger oil/aircooled V-Twin. That's the only way the price will remain as is and competitive with HD and the GW. Give a different choice not a wanna be clone of a GW!

The CC Tour already has 2 of your 6 desired changes - all LED lighting and a 1 piece front fender. Just 4 to go.

It appears they are following HD attempt to broaden the market as they did with the liquid cools and the apparent success of the Scout. So it will be along those lines as a sporty intro to the Victory Line and a good thing for the Company.

Add water-cooled to that list and Ma Vic/Polaris would get more of my money, too.

So I think you are right on the nose here, Bob. The Scout is apparently doing very, very well and demand has surpassed capacity. I wasn't aware of the problems at the plant until recently, which certainly doesn't help things any. Seems the F***ing bean counters screwed the pooch on that deal and it's hurting them now. I'm pretty sure somebody's head rolled for that one. Of course that doesn't fix the problem, though, does it? They need to step into high gear and get the line on track, which I'm sure they will. But to the original point, I'm pretty sure this "mystery Vic" will be the Octane. Still haven't seen an image of one though. Not even a drawing! So I'm gonna just wait like everyone else and see what they roll out. I am in no rush...

Honestly, the only thing that is keeping me from riding a K1600 right now is the price tag. From what I hear overall cost of ownership is pretty high as well. I think Victory has it in them to create a Vision 2.0 with everything you said PLUS a new, 21st century transmission that can come in at a better price than the BMW. If they do that, I WILL trade.

As I understand it from some Victory Video on the Tour Scoots, that intentional reduced the oil capacity in order for the to warm up faster due to owners not allowing a warm-up, hence those photos of scuffed Pistons. That said reduce the capacity reduce cooling ability to a degree. Has for me put all the oil you can into an oil/air cooled engine.

I am big boy, I can wait for a warm up on a big bore motor, hell I warm up yhr lawnmower... But I ain't doing the warranty work.

I agree with those who see a liquid cooled Small cruiser being added to the Vic line up. No matter what all the forum geniuses said about not selling well, it killed it for Indian w/ Scout and would do the same for Vic.

OTOH, if it comes in much over $12k it better be a Hammer/Vegas replacement with a large engine or it will not do as well as Scout.

Scout hit a perfect storm of tech, price point, and size.

Any bigger/$$$$ and Vic would need to be premiering its new replacement power plant for all models.

Notice Lloyd didn't unveil what was veiled after they unveiled this years lineup? Boom!

I hope that we do see a Vic based off the Scout, call it the Anti-Christ for all I care... I just don't think we will. No spy picks, no drawings, nada...

I hope I'm wrong but I would bet that the Octane is with the Water-Cooled Vision.

Its going to be the rebirth of the Jackpot with flames from the back to front to follow the lineage of the progessively worse and worse paint jobs!
They need to get their sh!t straight on the stuff they have before they drop another bike out!

I thought they had pics of a water cooled Vic a few months ago. Not the Project 156 bike.

I suspect that the new bike will be the Victory version of the Scout.
I may well look like the pictures attached and will probably have the same basic engine as the Scout, after all it was original intended that Victory would release the water cooled version first. The Indian got the engine to put in the Scout and capitalize on the the new brand name.

Jackpot without Flames is like a Highball without ape hangers and like artists they get it right ever so often. Who would have thought a color called Nuke Orange Suede would have worked.
