Not to start a big oil thing here I know how this gets. But I am curious if anyone is using Mobil 1 v-twin motor oil and what you think of it ?
Mike …..!Well the Mobil 1 20w50 racing 4T says it exceeds the Jaso MA/2 needs. And built for heat and heavy load running. I’m gonna run it and see how it does next year. The Spectro in my Magnum no issues. And Redline in my Harleys and Indians same. When I get into the throttle on my 1st chieftain even at 90,000 plus miles clutch the original never slipped on the Redline. So for me full synthetic I’m sticking with as long as the jaso needs are there.
Even ole slick knows a bargain when he sees one. How bad can the oil be. Meets the specs. I chose the 20/50 as it’s so hot and humid here almost always. The 10/40 semi synthetic is great for cooler climates. What gets me is the full synthetic is the same price !!!!My gosh, can't beat the price. Good find!
Damn slick bthats cheap lol like a walk through the past Thank you I’ll definitely research this. Ya know $10 11 12 is tolerable but $18 to 22 is ridiculous. At some point it just becomes the principal of it all. I mean I can a little bit of a raping, but I mean come on give me a kiss. Give me a reach around. Give me something.😆Mike …..!
before you pull the trigger on the Mobil 1 ….. take a look at this ……..yes sir it says Full synthetic! it says $5.99 ! How can you beat that price ? They will get you on shipping but if you have a Tractor Supply near you it’s free shipping to the store. Just go pick up !
This is a Glorious day for @Chattanooga_Mark ! ! View attachment 658253

I’m thinking I need to buy more while the getting is good. I signed up to be a Tractor Supply member. Membership has its benefits.
lol.
I like to change oil every 2500 to 3k mike. The Spectro creeped up and i’m having a hard time finding the bargain on that oil anymore. It serves me well being in a JASOMA/exceeds MA2 specification. Since the new information at least to me about what MA and MA2 means I’d like to stick with a strictly MA2 oil. And for me it has to be semi synthetic. Actevo almost got the win but for this price I won’t even blink twice about dumping my oil early. My concern is that my motors continue to run as smooth as they did with the Spectro oil in it. My biggest concern, especially in my magnum with easy clutch is the MA classification with the Spectro. Now while there’s new fountain knowledge really throws a wrench this topic doesn’t it lol.Damn slick bthats cheap lol like a walk through the past Thank you I’ll definitely research this. Ive done that as well. Of all the choices above it’s the Actevo for me. Only the JASO MA2 need apply. When it’s MA / MA2 then I gotta wonder about the grip. Remember. Big bikes with torque and wimpy clutches need good grip. JasoMa2 is more grippierAnd, Rotella T5 is also rated! View attachment 658262
Grippier is that a word Slick?……….just bustin Balls 😆 I gotta stay at least 20w50. if nothing else I’ve learned running and owning the 3 Americanas. My Vic ran way cooler then my Harleys and Indians all day..Ive done that as well. Of all the choices above it’s the Actevo for me. Only the JASO MA2 need apply. It is now ….. “ I declare Grippier a word “ only regarding motorcycle clutches.Grippier is that a word Slick?……….just bustin Balls 😆 I gotta stay at least 20w50. if nothing else I’ve learned running and owning the 3 Americanas. My Vic ran way cooler then my Harleys and Indians all day..
Yeah I agree but 57,000 thats no miles to talk about. But it Is a Harley 🤷♂️ Hell 2 Indians over 90,000 with nothing even related to the engine having issues. Buy you know I’ve had more then my fair share of HD motor issues so I can legitimately pick on them lol Hell 2 with bottom ends with flywheel runout In under 50,000. This M8 and I can only go by what I hear and some owners I know. I,m Not real impressed with it. Lots of issue. But the guys I know DONT ride hard but they beat on them consistently there’s a difference. As you said tho how you take care of it and also how you ride all comes into play at the days endIt is now ….. “ I declare Grippier a word “ only regarding motorcycle clutches.
My 3 riding buddies ( all HD on this trip ) did a ride from Florida to the snake to a friends ranch to a the dragon to Maggie valley and back to Florida. The bike that broke down on the trek home was the CVO with redline in all holes. ( crazy right )….. could be the miles ? 57k ….. idk. He lost the rear cylinder and the clutch last 100 miles from home. Go figure right ?
Ya know this oil thread stuff I take with a grain of salt and a lot of humor as it’s like this…..
There’s really no bad oil choice… not any more. It’s really all about how you treat your machine …. Maintain your machine and who the hell knows who even built your machine but that plays a big role as well. So it’s just a machine. Why our gurus always shy away from oil related topics …… they have enough to deal with in their repair world. So they say …Vic oil ! Why pop the top off anything else ?
It does help them get away from such a slippery topic !
While the deal is there I’m not sure I would go that route again. The additive pack in that oil showed me how it kept separated from the previous oil left over inside the primary. When I slipped a clutch we could see the red droplets next to the gold all thru out as if the 2 oils wouldnt mix. My mechanic noted it and said stick with the Spectro. I have my remaining bottles / gal of Motul 7100 to my buddy who owns a Kawasaki sport bike. He’s a Mobil 1 user and always has been. He was reluctant to switch as well but thought his wife’s aprilla RSV4 may benefit from it.This seems like a fantastic deal on Amazon if your motorcycle needs a 10W-60 MA2 motorcycle specific engine oil:
Motul 7100 4T 100% Synthetic Ester Motor Oil - 10W60-4L. 102191, $54.65 for a 4Liter bottle.
