Not to start a big oil thing here I know how this gets. But I am curious if anyone is using Mobil 1 v-twin motor oil and what you think of it ?
So far so good maybe 700 on it now. We’ve actually had a few days of rain so not rollin last 3 days. But I’m still racking it with the shifts. No slippage to date.@NY mike ….. wondering how the Mobil 1 is doing in your Indian. Have you added anymore miles ?
I’m starting to pay attention to certain oils that are motorcycle specific. Even without Jaso classification there is somewhere on the bottle where it usually says safe for wet clutch applications. That makes me wonder about the additive package that is in the product. Example. HD motors do not require the additive package that a wet clutch shared motor would. Yet Mobil 1 puts a Harley on their label and at the same time says their oil is wet clutch compatible. So far so good maybe 700 on it now. I get what you’re saying. Ya know me 50 yrs on Harley first time the last 2 yrs not one in my garage. But even when Harley came out with the screaming eagle syn 3 oil. I was like so do you want me to put the same oil in my transmission and primary that goes in my motor this makes no sense to me. So I tried it once my transmission shifting got harder I thought and everything just seemed to get noisier. 2000 miles I dumped it. I said I’m not using this crap. but I know what you mean it can be confusing.I’m starting to pay attention to certain oils that are motorcycle specific. In my thinking ……. If my Harley isnt sharing oil with a tranny and clutch then why can’t I use a premium oil without the friction modifiers involved. I know some oil kits for HD motors come with three seperately types of oil. One for each hole. While other oils state that their product is good for all 3 holes ?
Confusing I know but without having to really look into this as I don’t own a Harley I’d sure appreciate an explanation. Is wet clutch oil just good enough for an HD motor ? I’d think there is better choices in full synthetics for HD motors.
My buddy has a CVO. He uses the Redline kit which I believe is 3 different types of oil. He swears by it. Says his bike has never operated smoother. I too am a redline fan as my SRT car has redline in the manual transmission and the rear end. The smoothness was very noticeable and the noise (whine) was much reduced as noticed also by my wife.I get what you’re saying. You mention rain did that include all that high winds that slammed the area. It tore some **** up in Tempe down the road from you.So far so good maybe 700 on it now. We’ve actually had a few days of rain so not rollin last 3 days. But I’m still racking it with the shifts. No slippage to date.
Yes we didn’t get hit with nothing anything like they did. They got tore up. We get a lot of weather deflected from us. I sit in a L where the white tank and Estrella mountain range kind of come together. A lot of weather seems to go around usYou mention rain did that include all that high winds that slammed the area.
