1981 Honda Goldwing, I had some paracord in the trunk. I tied one end to the clutch lever and tied the other end loosely across the center of the bars. To shift, I'd grab the cord and pull toward me for the leverage. This worked to get me home, maybe less than 20 miles this way.
 
Yep, happened to me on vacation. Broke in the same place that one did. Just happened to break close to an Autozone. They had some cable barrel ends and I had just enough adjustment to get by. Put a Barnett cable on it when we got home.
 
yep, but I think it is a 1:1,000,000,000 chance as there is still cable/rod and barrel albeit short.

Had mine snap down shifting at a light and had to pull off the road fast. After a $250 tow I picked up a Sav UR Ride and keep it with me always.

But that's quite the set up you put together!
