I wonder if the diamond stitching is a custom order option. I haven't seen any place online that offers the diamond, at least not for the hammer.
I believe it is. Jason said he could order it from DS with different color stitching.

Talked to Jason at Victory Only last night. My seat should be here Thursday!

@The_Bear_3.8 did you order from Victoryonly?

No I ordered from WitchDoctors, already had other stuff in the cart so I just added that as well. Unfortunately ordered it before seeing the sale at VictoryOnly, live and learn. Really curious to see how much of a PITA this seat will be to install, seems like no one just simply drilled the holes and bolted it up right.

Good to hear that after a couple thousand miles you still like the seat. Seems like a lot of people are having similar experiences with the install, too bad there are no companies that make a seat that mounts the same as stock. Corbin looks nice too but a little more than I am looking to spend. Think I will get the drag specialties on order and see how it works out. Thanks!
I got the Drag Specialties Pillow Top Touring Seat for my Jackpot and it mounts exactly like the stock seat does. No drilling any new holes, just bolt it right on. It also has a slot for the optional driver's backrest, but I did not get the driver backrest. Got a great price on the seat at Dennis Kirk, $384 with free shipping. So far I love the new seat, wife does too!

I'm really glad to hear the passengers are liking this seat. My wife loves to ride but long hauls are just as much of a pain to her as it is to me with the stock seats.

Yeah, my wife really likes it. For a passenger on a Jackpot, this seat is about as comfortable as its gonna get!

Just a quick update on the touring seat from drag specialties. Installation is super simple, need to drill out two existing holes to 3/8" and then drill two new holes (same size). I heard a lot of people were having issues with the templates, here is what I did and it worked great.

I had two studs laying around that were the same size as the holes in the seat, I inserted them into the front holes on the seat, placed the seat on the bike carefully and once it was all lined up I applied a little pressure and wiggled it a tiny bit. Once you remove the seat there will be two very small scratches where the studs hit on the seat pan (maybe 1/8 inch scratches). I then center punched and drilled two small holes where the scratches were. As a extra check I put the seat back on (studs removed now), and used a pick up through the bottom to ensure the holes lined up with the holes on the seat. All was good so I then drilled out the holes to 3/8". All the bolts lined up perfectly. Tighten the 4 bolts from under the fender into the seat and your done.

The seat actually looks pretty good on the bike which is a plus as some of the comfy seats are not very visually appealing. Yes you lose the rear seat cowl which is a bit of a let down but I can live without it. Most important part, the lady loves the seat, went on a 2 hour ride and no complaints from either of us. A+ all around.

Glad to hear it, Bear. I love my Drag Specialties seat too. It keeps breaking in a little more and more and gets more comfortable.

Picked up the DS seat yesterday. Got home, installed the seat and cleaned the bike up. I went for a short ride and I think I'm really going to like this seat. I did get the driver backrest as well. I stopped and put it on during the test ride. That will come in handy on the really long rides.

An update on the DS low profile touring seat:

I put about 500 miles on the new seat this last weekend. The wife was very happy with it I ended up keeping the driver's backrest on the entire time and I don't think I'll ever go without it again.

I'm very pleased with my purchase!

Very nice. Especially the driver backrest. Mine doesn't have one. Wish it did. Glad both you and the wife are happy. I also like your luggage rack. Don't think I can install something similar on my Hammer.

Actually the luggage rack is from BDD Customs. They make one for the Hammer as well.

And it looks like that's a DS seat too.

I was really happy with my seat until I started reading about how much more comfortable the backrest made the ride. Now I have to make some decisions.

I took mine off a couple of weeks ago and rode to work. I came home at lunch and put it back on.......

Hi everyone.

I’ve been following this thread as I just picked up a 2013 hammer 8 ball (12,000kms). I am loving the bike however I too notice that the stock riding position kind of forces my lower back to curve which I imagine will cause some discomfort on any above average length ride.

So, is the solution to upgrade the seat as this thread has been focused on or should I be looking to change the riding ‘triangle’ by getting a different style of bars or different position of foot pegs?

Thanks in advance!

It might take one or all changed to make the needed improvements. How tall are you?

I'm 6ft and 195lbs. I think you are probably correct. It may be a case of getting the touring seat (or similar) and some 2" forward controls and trying a couple combinations to find the ideal position. I was just hoping someone did this already and could point me in the right direction.
The bars are a tricky one because there are so many different types. I really like the look of the drag bars but feel it might make the rounded back position worse?

Paulst, I am 6'4" and 240 lbs. I've posted earlier in this thread that I installed the Drag Specialties seat on my 2016 Hammer and love it. I have not yet posted, until now, that I also installed Kuryakyn mini boards in place of my stock front foot pegs. Those two changes, plus the fact that I also have a crash bar with highway pegs so I can stretch out, have increased my comfort level on the bike tremendously. On the stock seat, my back and thighs/hips ached a lot. Plus with no back rest I felt like I was always sliding backwards on the seat. Even though I don't have an actual driver back rest on the Drag Specialties seat, it kind of feels like there's one there since the seat curves up sharply just behind the driver. Upgrading my seat has been one of the best decisions I've made for the bike. (The small photo at left does not show the new seat.)

Thanks spider628! Sounds like the seat upgrade will make a big difference alone.

To be fair, the stock riding position is not bad at all...just thinking I want to proactively avoid lower back strain for longer rides.

Anyone know how drag bars will affect the position of the rider for comfort? Particularly on lower back?

I'm 5'10" 230. I have 2" forward controls. It made a huge difference for me. Start with that first (least expensive) and go from there. I have the Lindby multi-bar and I can rest my feet on it when I need to stretch out more. Honestly, for me, the DS seat and backrest was the key to long riding.

I'm always thinking about new bars, but if I'm really honest with myself, my arms/shoulders never get tired with my stock bars.
