I bought a small momentary switch and wired it into a remote.
Then I mounted the switch dead center up under thelip above tach and speedo. Out of weather and very hard to see unless you really look. can hit it with either hand. Actual remote is inside fairing.

Yep, there are the flash to pass things but mine was $1.99 at radio shack and about an hour to soder and install.

I've come up with two solutions. One, a button in one of the blanks on the dash (like where the oem heated grips switch goes). If you are using both spots now (I think for oem heated grips and driving lights) then you can look at Autoswitch's AS7G.

I bought a key fob remote and used some double sided 3M tape to stick it to the bottom of my left hand switch cube. If I count the time it took me to wipe clean the bottom of the cube and peel the tape I think I have about 20 or 30 seconds wrapped up on the install. That was about 2 years, 17k miles, and numerous rides through rainstorms ago.

Here is a picture of mine. It's the little black box under the windshield with the Ohio State sticker on it.

I used velco to attach it and it has stayed on without any problem.

Opener is my pocket or, if not wearing a jacket, clipped on my belt. Almost the least techy of all the mounts suggested. The least techy would be the better half opening the door for me - like that's going to happen any time in future.

I put the neighborhood gate key (yes, I'm one of those) and garage door keys in my right and left jacket pockets and simply touch the button through the jacket - then return them to my car. Works every time and does not clutter my bike.

I have keypad entry on my garage. It's a good way to get in the house without a key or garage remote.

This task doesn't sound too difficult though. I'd probably use one of the empty button slots on the dash and build the device around that.

i took a keyfob garage door opener and velcroed it under the gas tank.
I did velcro so it is easily removeable for changing battery.
Bottom button does main door where i park the bike.
Top, does opposite door
Middle opens both doors.

I just installed mine yesterday before reading this thread. I just used a little velcro and mounted it dead center under the top lip of the dash between the gauges directly over the info screen. Easy to reach with either hand and out of the weather. Sure beats getting on and off the bike just to open/close the darn door!

I also used a radio-shack switch but rather than wiring it into the bike, I simply continue to use the 9 volt battery that the remote normally uses. I duct taped it underneath the cowling. Unfortunately, it appears that the battery dies about every 3 months so it's not in any way a perfect solution but the convience of being able to flip it on the way in

My lift is a Lift-Master and the remote is somewhat small. So I used dble-sided tape and put it under the dash overhang. Smeared a small amt. of silicone around the seams to help keep water out, mostly from when I wash it as it is well protected from rain & the elements, etc
Been there for about 35k with no problems.

OH! the remote. I started to say you need angle iron to mount the motor put it exactly in the center of the door and attach the bar`````

Just kidding.

I have a key fob remote that I put a D-ring on and clip that to a cable by the clutch or mirror stem. It rides fine like that and I can hook it to my belt loop when away from the bike.
