The original owner of my 2013 Vision took the bike in March 2014 to the dealer he purchased the bike from new to have them repair oil seepage between the upper/lower head on the rear jug. The repair was made under Victory warranty. I found this out when I went to the dealer and requested all records on the bike after I purchased it 4 months ago. I believe it was just a gasket issue, so a new gasket was installed.

I have noticed the same seepage in the same location again. It is not heavy seepage....I get maybe a drop of oil on the primary case after riding several hundred miles. I can clean the fins, and will not see another drop and only minimal seepage for a month or two (depending on how much I ride during that period).

So....I go back to the dealer today to talk to them about the seepage, and asked if it would be covered by the dealer since they made the repair under warranty last year, and the same problem still exists. I was told by the dealer rep that most likely NO...if it would have leaked a month after the repair, then YES...they would cover. But since it has been over a year...most likely NO. My response was that I thought that was BS, as the repair was made and under NO circumstances should that repair have failed 16 months later....and that it should be covered.

Am I wrong to expect it to be covered? Or...is the dealer correct and I am expecting too much? Any advice on how to proceed from here?

HAHAHAHAHAHA - Welcome to your friendly neighborhood Polaris Victory Dealer.
It's that exact attitude why I'm selling my 2011 for $10,000 hoping someone will steal it from me so I never have to go back & deal with my dealership again. Any work they do is only covered for 30 days.

Not trying to be rude but a year does seem like a bit long of a time period to expect it to be covered and the fact that you're a different owner. I would say they should consider the milage since repair, if there were only a couple k miles put on you would hope they would stand by there work..... If your problem does not get resolved place the name of the dealer on this forum so others in the area are aware of how this place runs....

I will be one of the first to tell you that I despise the warranty process with Victory and the dealerships I have dealt with. That being said, expecting them to fix the problem 16 months after they repaired it, I agree with them to some extent. I would never expect a mechanic to cover repairs after one year and a different owner. Now, If I owned the dealership, I would tell you that we will make it right by giving you a break on the labor and parts. Keeping you as customer would be a priority if I were in charge.

Thanks for the replies guys. I can understand the dealer's perspective and position for the most part. And...I don't think that most dealers of any make would oblige a second repair this long after the first one. The dealership is a good one, so I am not going to disparage them here. The more I think abou tit....I gues it would be asking too much to expect them to cover it. May try to talk with them about a break on labor charges, though.

Now....a second question for the experts here.....the rep at the dealership told me today that the bike should have the ESC extended warranty on it through Polaris, as it should have been transferred to me when I bought the bike and paid the $50 transfer fee. However, the original owner traded the bike in to a Honda dealer (he exchanged it for a Goldwing), and the dealer did not either know or tell me about the extended warranty...most likely they did not know. I have also attempted to contact the former owner to see if he has any paperwork on the warranty...but have not heard from him. Is there a way for me to contact Polaris/Victory directly, provide them the VIN #, and transfer the extended warranty to me? The dealer said that all bikes from 2009-on come with the one-year standard Vic warranty, and an additional 4-year extended warranty through Polaris.....??

I only got two years extended when I bought mine. I believe Ma Vic runs specials different times of the year. Depending on initial purchase date, the extended warranty time changes. I would be calling headquarters to see for sure. Just check out their website
