so here is a tip I use when making a template : go to the dollar store and get a see-thru cutting matt - makes making the template effortless almost and transferring the mounting bolts ez :)

...now I have built a Cross Kp tour the cheap bastard way LOL

I bought an amp and speakers for my Vision. They should arrive on Thursday. I'll put it all in during the next week or so.

Nice! I have an amp, just not the speakers yet. What did you go with?

I'm a bit of a more "frugal" guy so no big dollar items. The amp is a Kenwood KAC-M3004 and Infinity Kappa speakers front and back. All get good solid reviews and for me... I don't need a rolling concert hall...just not my thing.

Cool. From suggestions of other members here, I went with the RF T400x4ad and trying to find a good deal on some dB drive wdx6motos.

So here are the bags painted with an overcoat of undercoat (thanks for the idea @kaitiff ) and a few light coats of clear. I still know they're going to scratch easy but for the moment they look good (enough) for $8 of paint. It's a stop-gap.

Redid my home made wind wings using heavier polycarbonate (3/16")
Much stiffer now.
Also, the Ness logo on my Right Cheese wedge was starting to wear off.
I pulled both sides and stripped the insert and wrapped it with 3M Carbon fiber film then added a new Ness Logo.
Looks much better!

My second project is in progress. I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing but there's enough YouTube videos to get a clue.

Last year I picked up a cheap rear rim off of eBay and it came in as "straight but needs clean up". So, I'm practicing on polishing this thing up. Started with some 320 and working my way up. Was kinda freaking out scratching the crap out of the aluminum but it's starting to clean up pretty good. I still may paint after all this work. Below is a before and where it's at on one section.

Before (other side of where I'm working) :

My winter project was a toss up between doing the cams, or replacing the radio. I commute with the bike almost daily, even in the winter. While there's always a want for more power, most of my rides I more find myself wishing I could hear the radio, so that won out. Thanks to @yankphan along with some speaker upgrades, I can hear the radio now.
My first real ride was this past weekend. After about 100 miles, as I was putting the bike away, I noticed my right fork was wet with oil. I can't afford to replace the stock innards with anything aftermarket at the moment, so I just ordered the rebuild kits and oil form Witchdoctors. Hopefully it will be as easy as the videos make it look, though I'm doubtful as I have a stone floor in the garage and no motorcycle jack.

A while back I rebuilt my forks.
Here's the link.
I think you are going to need a jack or lift.

Got the cams in and new aluminum Intake. Took the forks off to send to Scott at conquest customs. Just need to wire the sound system and put it back together when the forks get back. New magnum wheels and Avon rubber going on too.

What do you think of the intake? I've been considering one.

It's a nice piece, I'm not crazy about the o-rings they give you with it. I ordered a stock one and it looks like it should work fine. I haven't fired it up to confirm but it's a good fit. I also powder coated just because. Also, you may want to take some emery to the seal surface as it's cut very sharp. But it fits very well once in.

I know a motorcycle lift would make things much easier, but it won't work on a stone floor. All I have is a car jack, which I can get under the bike. My plan is to jack it up with that, use some 2x4 pieces to keep it off the ground and go from there. I will stabilize the bike by tying it to the roof rafters so I don't knock it over while doing the job. I work with seals for a living, so the rebuild doesn't scare me at all. The only part I'm nervous about is getting the correct amount of oil back in.

Added all the chrome that i scoured the internet for, horse collar, top fairing piece, side covers, front tip overs, rear piece, and the vision "swoosh"

Front fender support bracket(from the factory recall)

While I had all the front panels off decided to fix the oval Victory emblem lights, now both light up like they were supposed to, got the idea from another member on here to drop in led lights and spliced the wires back into the original connectors.

New battery
New spark plugs & wires

plan on an oil change and add the new reusable oil filer, had on on my XCT and really like it.

If you install a steel skid plate it will make it much safer to lift the bike.
Witchdoctors has them as I saw a used one from Victory Police recently on ebay.
I know it sucks paying 2-3 hundred for one, but it's cheaper than having the bike fall.

What an art

Yeah that is. I watched that video along with a bunch of DYI videos sometime last year. I've been planning on painting or wrapping my Pin down the road. Not sure I can paint like that though. That is talent.

I've been thinking of picking up a damaged tank to play with. One of these days maybe ... my wife has my dance card filled up with other stuff. Two bathrooms to remodel to start with. :woot:
