What year is that old beater with the worn out pinions??!!

Well I've worn out my oem left hip and doc says a replacement is inevitable, maybe just maybe but probably not can get another year tops out of it due to severe arthritis and few other medical terms but basically there's no cushion left and the ball of my femurs riding bone to bone in my pelvic socket. I've been absolutely miserable for couple years whenever standing or walking far's required and mostly miserable all other times. I exercise & stretch few times a day just to maintain my current $hitty existence. My question is if there is any supplements / vitamins that actually helps with arthritis. Oh yea gotta get an mri next cause thinks I've got some torn stuff up in there too, sure is fun playing outside but can get painful sometimes
Have it replaced! Why put up with all the discomfort that goes with holding out? I had onedone, but the other is in need as well. Been doing well with corto-steroid injections in the groin area. For me good relief for 6-12 months. But, as another recommended Glucosamine and Full spectrum CBD oil has helped as well.

Both of my knees are shot from motorcycle wrecks, car wrecks, laying carpet and walking on power plant concrete for 42 years. Doctor said they were wore out but not bad enough to replace , in constant pain 24 hours a day but no,,, not bad enough yet. A friend told me he uses Osteo Bi-Flex and it helped him so I tried it a couple years ago and by golly it works. When I take those horse pills my knees don't hurt and I can do whatever I want,, IE: walk around swap meets , car shows whatever and have zero pain. Give them a shot ,, they sure helped me. Warning though,, these pills are huge ,, I have a hell of a time swallowing them .

Maybe it is time to find a different doctor. My gosh knee replacement is a simple procedure these days. My wife had each replaced a couple years apart and I think the operation took no more than 1.5 hours, maybe only an hour each time. Takes a couple months of at home therapy. Thanks for the tip. I was wondering about Osteo Bi-Flex. I am going to give it a try for my Spinal Stenosis, which is much better than at this time last year.

I greatly enjoy the aftermarket parts in my motorcycle. My wife's aftermarket parts from her back surgery have done wonderfully. And other aftermarket parts on some people seem great. A former co-worker had hip replacement surgery a few months ago and he's doing fine. One of my brothers has two aftermarket knees and he's never felt better.

Go for the aftermarket parts as soon as you can. They seem to work quite well.

It's good to read results posted on turmeric. My wife just picked up a tub and got me starting on them. I don't have the quantity of injuries some have had. Mine has been back issues including a couple surgeries over the last 40 years. I'm holding off a fusion until no choice as a buddy had one and it just made it worse. Best disk I have is at around 30% per last MRI.

I have had both of my hips replaced, and I learned after the 1st one that holding off as long as you can is dumb. I didn't hesitate on the 2nd one. All that pain was gone instantly. They had me up walking the same day of the surgery both times. The only pain after the surgery was from the surgery itself, and that didn't last long, and wasn't as bad as the hip pain before. I only took 4 pain pills after each surgery.

Wife had a knee replaced 8 years ago and she is doing pretty well with it, some problems once in a while but overall she is good. I have had back surgery twice, second time in 89 they took bone from my hip and fused 4 vertebrae and put a titanium rod screwed to them I do really good unless I do something I shouldn't like trying lift something heavy or bend over for an extended time without any support.

Lil update, I’ve been faithfully taking the turmeric curcumin about 4 weeks, the oestio biflex for about 3 weeks and I can honestly feel a small to moderate difference. I’ve adjusted my exercise / stretching program so it’s not the same ole same & helps me stay motivated. I’ve also been more conscious of my diet which helps relieving pain by not carrying that extra load. It’s still a struggle but my hip / knee pain has lessened somewhat over this past week. Usually, most days my pain level was at a 9-10 ( literally tears running down my face by workdays end ) now is down to a 7-8 ( hurts like hell but I can bare it ) I pace myself, I’ve modified the way I walk / stand so I’m using my leg / pelvic / core muscles and not settling my bodies weight into my hips sockets or putting all my weight on my knees. I’m very excited to have finally gotten in to see a knowledgable, very reputable & sought after orthopedic surgeon on Fri March 4th at Orthopedic One with Dr. Sochachi. They are a sports medicine group and have done work on many professional athletes, if a total hip replacement truly IS my best option I want one of the best surgeons doing the replacement ( is one of the very, very few things my cheapassery will allow ) Btw, the main risk of turmeric is stomach bleeding, like with many other supplements / medications you should take it with food. ( not taking with food is what causes ulcers / bleeding is what they say ) The turmeric is a great anti inflammatory but has similar bleeding risks as ibuprofen. Both turmeric & ostieo biflex’s recommended dose is 2 pills per day, I take one each in the morning and the second of each in the evening. I found all four at the same time was just too much and caused major stomach discomfort but spreading them out and taking near consumption of food works fantastic for me. Thank you everyone for your responses, your knowledge, experiences, insight & hindsight have been invaluable & will help many others.

Glad I opened up this thread. Absolutely amazing the amount of miles you have put on your CCT with this condition. Wow, this has to suck, and you are quite young for this to happen. First, for arthritis, to reduce inflammation these are good. Turmeric and Glucosamine Chondroitin. Tart cherries are best but sweet cherries have benefits also. Traverse City (Lake Michigan) tart cherries are the best. You were in the cherry farming area this past summer where your bike broke down. Tart Cherry juice is good. You may look online for other items. However, if you have bone on bone with that hip, I suspect the only cure will be hip replacement. Perhaps you can hold off surgery till next November, and then be ready to ride again come spring. Only you will know. Success rate of hip surgery is very high. Man, best of luck to you.
Tart cherries sound interesting
Not too many tarts around these days but.
I get a bit of arthritis and take MSM every morning and Turmeric with cracked pepper and manuka honey in warm milk at bedtime.
Helps with the circulation in my legs.
Used to wake around 4am with severe pain in my lower legs, the Turmeric drink stopped that for the last 6 months, Doctor reckons that's a coincidence.... yeah sure doc!
What else do I take?
Well a mixture of stuff to boost my immune system.
In a cup
2 teaspoons MSM (MethylSulfonyMethane) I buy online or vets supplies ( they use it on horses)
Add 1/2 teaspoon Citric Acid powder.
Add 1/8 teaspoon Magnesium Citrate powder and half teaspoon of L-lysine powder.
That concoction then add pure water to 3/4 fill the cup.
Warning it tastes dreadful but hey we are tough aren't we.
With that I wash down half an aspirin,
Some B vitamin(Choline and Inositol), a garlic capsule (non odor ) some Saw Palmetto and Nettle root powder capsules for my prostate.
A Zinc tablet, a Selenium tablet.
I down that concoction every morning.
And take another dose of the prostate herbs at night too.
Just bought some Neem leaf powder but it tastes really really terrible so I may need to put it in a capsule.
It's possible to overdo the Neem powder but evidently in combo with turmeric it's a strong anti cancer med from thousands of years ago.
Well now you know my secret recipe for eternal youth.:angel4:

None of the above requires a prescription from a quack.
I take no prescription meds at all and I'm 65 in April , Universe willing
Stopped alcohol 23 years ago, it almost killed me, luckily just sent me mad instead , but I've recovered mostly.
Would've been dead decades ago otherwise.
Riding motorcycles is my other secret as well as having a good woman who loves the bikes too.

Just reading through this and ....... Damn!....... I'm going home tonight and spend an hour thanking God that I still have all my parts, no new holes, and take nothing more than vitamins. I feel fortunate (severely understated) by comparison to all the ills you guys seem to have. At 68 I had no idea I was holding up so well.
