Stopped at the local dealer and they had taken in a 2007 Kingpin Tour on trade. Only had 5k miles on it. Was not ready for sale and had a clutch noise...salesman assumed since of had a note on it not to sell yet.

They want 7k for it. Is this something to consider or would you be leary of the low miles?

The 07 are known to make noise in the primary cover when up to temp. It is most noticeable when in neutral and the clutch lever is released (clutch engaged). The cause is the torque compensator. If this is the noise, not an issue. Can be fixed, but causes creep when in gear and clutch lever pulled. Really not an issue. As for price, its too high. Is it worth that much? Only if it has all new rubber parts (hoses, throttle body adapter, vacuum caps, clutch cable, tires, etc). As is a good price is about 5000-5500. Low miles aren't really an issue, but low miles bikes aren't always a great find because you might have to replace parts from it sitting too long. I'd say take it at 5500 if its what you want. 07 Kingpin is one of the best if not the best bike made by Victory. Every person I've spoke to that had one and "traded up" has said they wish they had kept the KP, and know several that went back after having a Cross Country. Specific things to look at:
1. Tires. Don't want anything with a date code more than three years old. If original tires, they need to be replaced regardless of miles.
2. Throttle body adapter. Under tank between air box and intake tubes. If cracked, will run like crap. Easy swap though, and something that has to be done periodically anyway.
3. Fuel lines. Don't want a dry-rotted fuel line leaking over a hot engine between your legs. GOODNESS GRACIOUS GREAT BALLS ON FIRE!
4. Break lines. Same scenario as the fuel lines, but you want be able to stop if your crotch gets too hot.
5. Clutch cable. Check it at the handle to see if it is frayed any. If so, needs to be replaced. Known issue for the clutch cable to snap at the handle because of burrs left over from the milling process. File them down and keep it lubed.
6. How fresh is the gas? Biggest issue with low miles older bikes is they sat a lot and gas turned to crap.

That's really it. And none are deal breakers. Great bike.

Wow thanks!

I assume the dealer will be going over the bike. Salesman said he would call me when the bike is ready to show and test drive....he was not a Victory expert since he was pretty green ( had to tell him what model the bike was) and he did say the service department would know way more than he does about specifics. Its bike season in Minnesota so it seems private parties want more than dealers. LOL.

If they want 7K for it, I'd tell 'em to do the entire list that @tree1979 had.. great list btw! I mean every single piece of rubber from tires to hoses to vacuum end caps.. that and a complete replacement of the fuel filters. I wouldn't wig over the clutch noise or whatever. .. take it for a ride and see if there's any vibration etc.. 99.9% chance it's fine.

Well I talked with the dealer today and he said they will be selling the bike as a wholesale unit. Seems previous owner had a small fire and there was a wiring harness issue and also the clutch noise. Too much for them to fix and sell. I dont want a project.... Saw a super nice 2007 blue and white ( my favorite color scheme) Kingpin today.... Private party. Wow. Had the engine upgraded to the stroker 106? I don't know if I want a race machine. Looked really nice though.

And they still want $7k for a bike that needs all that work??? I wouldn't give more than 2500. Does it have a clean title? If so, I might be interested at a lower price. I like projects. Where is it located?

No. They are selling it wholesale. It is at Mies Outland in St Cloud MN. Not on their website I happen to see it in the the row of bikes that looked to be trade ins. It is super clean and I would not have known there was an issue if he had not said something.

I was waiting to hear what they found...maybe I will stop back out today to see what they think they would let it go for....

Well, if they are willing to make a deal, and it has a clean title, there is a guy in PA that might be interested. I'll take a look at the website and see if I can see a pic of it in the background.

Okay. Salesman called and said they would take 4k for it. Runs and drives....just has clutch noise and wiring harness issue.. Which he said could be soldered or replaced...but if his shop does the work they will retail the bike for 7k.

$4k seems to be the going rate for a 2004. Not a bad deal.
