The Road Glide Ultra / FLTRU was the only HD I was even half way interested in. If they hadn't dropped it from the Demo Truck this year things might have been different!

OK so not really. But it is by far my favorite HD (they sell quick here, too) and I am curious to see what they do with it for 2015 or 2016.

Hey, I am riding a Road Glide Ultra, FLTRU, one of the models being replaced. What happens to the camaraderie of shark owners who hold an annual shark week get together? Does the MoCo just intend to drop them off the edge of the world? If I need a fairing part, do I need to go after market for it? This seems short sighted to me.
I will be trading my shark for a new Vision in the next couple of weeks but that does not mean that I no longer care what happens to thousands of riders with a discontinued model. HD never did support that model very well the way they did the Electra Glide, so I am not too surprised to find it on their cut list.
Since that memo includes a stop to the Electra Glide, that means no touring bike at all for MY 2014. Maybe touring bikes are not their best sellers but giving up an entire category to Indian and Victory seems very short sighted to me. I am just glad I don't own any HOG stock.
No need to worry (I think). Taking a beloved model and just dumping it is Victory's gig, not Harley's. If you're a drinker I'll bet a six pack of Iowa micro brew against a six pack of Illinois micro brew that this discontinuing is only half the story. I bet what's discontinued this year is only being done so they can return VERY soon with the latest goodies Harley has to offer. Doing it to the Road Glide makes perfect sense. If it indeed is not selling as well as the Street Glide. They release the new Road Glide with the new motor and if it flops they haven't pissed off the legions of SG riders. If it's a huge hit...bam, it's on the SG too.

I always liked the Road Glide and was gonna buy one until I switched to Victory. I still wouldn't mind having one but I would like an older model with the 88 CI engine. I don't care much for the 96/103 powerplants.
