I seriously doubt I'll be able to retire anytime soon. I'm 62, but I only have 13 years here at work. I got married and had kids later in life so all need my insurance. So maybe at 69.

I don't necessarily plan to retire until around 70, and even then, if I'm involved in the work I do, I will keep a hand in maybe two or three days a week. Sitting around the house all day would result in a death in the family. Just depends on which one snaps first. But at some point, travel and "other interests" will overtake work.

Right now I'm laying the ground work and trying to get a few bricks in place.

I hope to retire young at a lake house so I can fish every day at a moment's notice instead of being an all day affair. Now I have to drive to the lake, launch, and then trailer up, and drive back home. The lake I usually go to is almost two hours away. Having a boat house with a lift would be awesome!

Aside from riding my other very serious passion is fishing. But it's a double edged sword. Salt water is my favorite either wading, or off shore (way off shore). But I have no love at all for the sand or salt air. I could fish all day, but I couldn't live in that environment. I fresh water fish as well, but I love the variety and size of the things that come from the salt. Fishing the big lakes (Michigan) is close to salt water. Same deep blue water, and some pretty good sized trout and salmon to be had. I've caught them up to 25 lbs. But, as they say, a bad day fishing still beats a good day at work.

You can always go deep sea fishing if moved to Arizona instead :hat1:

I'm with you salt water fishing is great; you're always reeling something in. I can go fresh water fishing and at the end of the day I'll be drunk and not have as many lure as I started out with.... Oh I would also have some nice twigs to show off as well.

I have also been fishing in lake Michigan and would like to do that sometime again. It really felt like being out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. I must've went on a good day because I didn't need to take any motion sickness pills.

Hoping to do the LAKE SUPERIOR loop this summer....come on up.
i.e. salt water fishing....use to fish allot, but then started going to Acapulco, 32 years in a row-last was 2016. After catching sailfish and marlin I just can't get into fishing unless it takes 45 minutes+ to reel in:dance:. Also, had condo on Marco Island, FL...Tarpon were the best, whew talk about fight :icon_thumleft:
OK, back to LAKE SUPERIOR trips, friends that have done said really GREAT Ma and Pa places along route for cheap FRESH fish to eat :ok: (better to eat then catch...more riding time :devil3::rofl3:)

I am retiring in 7 working days! And its 7 half days so its going by quick!
We had always planned to move west but then decided on Arkansas ...... but with my wife's health issues, her dad (97) and more grandkids in this area it looks like I will be staying in Wisconsin for a while. :coldsmilie:
I did a trip to Arkansas last fall and we both went this past spring and enjoyed it.

IF I got the time but I doubt it. Next year vacation is already reserved. I got a few more states left before I start doing destination trips (see my signature). I personally don't eat fish, but can tear up some FEMALE clams (i think there is a thread dedicated for them) :angel4:

I still want to do a loop around lake Michigan. If I do the loop around lake Superior I would have to find a trust worth person to baby sit my pistol while in Canada........ I heard those Canadians don't like you bringing guns with you.

With how much riding you get in during the year I thought you were already retired.

IMHO...to many big towns around Lake Michigan, worse being ****tycago. 2 years ago coming back from WA, OR and CA we took the Badger ferry across, that was great....LOTS of bikers coming back from Sturgis.
You can leave pistol at my house....SO safe here keys stay in bikes and vehicles...AND if do come, don't lock my house door....don't know where a key is. One of many reasons I moved up here:dance:

I have been checking out AZ & NM for a possible retirement move also, and actually the wife and I want to plan a few trips out that way to check some areas out. I got a few more years to narrow it down though, Oh and I am only 2 mls from a nice boat ramp now :) and 5 mls form a great place for PIE !!. :D. Not to picky on the boat ramp though ;).
