Found a couple of broken spokes

Hey all, I had my bike out a couple of weeks ago to let it run idle for a bit. While doing a once over I noticed a broken spoke on my back wheel, then I noticed the one next to it was broken as well. I have 8500 miles on the bike and was a bit surprised to see that considering I try my damnedest to dodge pot holes and other bumps in the road. The factory is paying to replace and relace the spokes fortunately but I was still a little disappointed. Anyone else have this issue?

UPDATE: So finally got a call from the dealer. Spokes backordered... It took them all most two weeks to find out they were backordered after telling me they were in stock and would be here in 3-5 business days. So now I am with out transportation for another few days. Hopefully by Weds. (they said early next week) Sorry for venting.

If you need spokes I can probably send you some out next day air. You would have them monday. Let me know.
If a necessary and part that is covered under warranty is backordered from the factory, I'm wondering what would happen if you buy it from an outside source (such as Witchdoctor) and sent the bill to the factory. Do you think there's a chance the factory will reimburse the buyer?

This has been an interesting thread. I would assume that the same issue could very well happen on the Boardwalk too. I knew what I was getting into when I bought a motorcycle with spokes. That was the only part of the bike I didn't like. But damn does it look good with em.

Guess I'll have to keep an eye on the spokes sooner than I thought. And I'll probably order a few as backup too. Thank you for posting the product number

I understand what you are saying but I don't feel that it is my place to have to hunt down parts for warranty work. Plus I feel that victorys warranty policy (if the dealer is telling me the truth) is strange. They told me they have to take pictures and get approval for any work done. Then Victory has to send them the new part. Maybe I am just don't understand. I just want to ride.

Got bike back yesterday. All is well again. Almost 3 weeks they had it. My warranty was up as of Friday. I have an extended warranty but I will be doing most of any repairs that come up myself. That dealership won't be getting anymore of my business. I got run around after run around. Even the GM told me they were doing me a favor by getting aftermarket parts and bending over backwards for me. Anyway enough venting. I going to ride.

I'll have to check, but I think I sprang for a tire/wheel roadside asst warranty that covers the tires and also the wheels.. I'll have to look that up.. Considering all I've read about these spoke wheels, it may be a life saver.

When it's time for tires, I may have to make that decision of cool spoke looks verses tubeless functionality by picking up a set of the cast wheels on the 2014 High-Balls and I guess the judge if it's the same wheel.

Any Judge riders wanna swap? Spokes would look way cool on one of those I think. :)

Who makes an "affordable" better aftermarket wire wheel for these bikes?
I guess Conquest or Witchdoctors may be sources for such.
A 60-80 spoke would be killer.

Funny, lately I've been ogling again at Exile Cycles bikes.. Russell Mitchell likes using a very different 15" wire wheel with tall, fat tires on his bobbers. Cool "bulldozer" look. I could guarantee there's no such thing that'd work on these Vic's, that I've found anyway.

Hey Conquest or Witchdoctors... Know of any 15's like these? ...

Also Conquest.. With your cool swingarm rear fender you guys do, I'd love to see a Vic get the sanitary Russell Mitchell makeover like these:

First, I would like to say to everyone here THANK YOU. By letting me know about (Victory part #2204924) the spoke replacement kit you just saved me a ton of money. My local dealer told me that I would have to buy a new rim for $1300and that my extended warranty that they upsold me does not cover spokes or rims. Needless to say I was kinda furious before I read this thread.

Batman, I feel your pain man. The problem is the dealerships service dept dont really know anything more about my victory than they do about a Suzuki or a Yamaha. My dealership has only 1 victory specialist mechanic and tbh hes not even very good. It always takes them a week plus when I bring them my bike for more than a tire or oil. They arent like HD, they dont have a direct line to the HQ to approve warranty work and as it appears they are wary of the dealers defrauding them over warranty work and in the end the customer suffers.

I'm pretty sure a "set" means 2 spokes so be careful.
Witchdoctor, this whole spoke issue led me to the realization that these spokes seem like weak aluminium. I just thought, maybe a possible part myself and other spoked rim riders would be interested in would be steel (or titanium or carbon fiber?) replacement spokes. You know, as an upgrade.

I'm 99% sure they are stainless. Making spokes is not something I would do. Titanium would cost probably $60+ per spoke. Carbon fiber would break in 2 seconds.

Polaris X 4. Will say that dealer is 99% of the product. I noticed that Polaris is spending alot of money on legal lately. Business ethics are gone my friend so do the best to cover your own butt. I would recommend the Premium package wheels for that money. Spokes are old skool and cool, but they are also cheaper to make. Find a good servicer and you will be ahead of the game. Seven years on Polaris Victory and Indian as information on background.

I just dropped off my wheel/spoke to a Tech (older guy) that said he can replace and true my wheel.
I'm going to write a letter with all my receipts, pictures, and email from the dealer saying it can't be fixed, buy a new wheel than send it to the dealer that I bought it from's owner, if they don't refund my $$ the same letter will be getting sent to the President or some High up person at Polaris Industries.
