Got my foot boards on and can see why people like them. Only problem I am having is the shifter. For them to be flat and comfy I can barely get my foot under the shifter. Can the shifter be moved up about 1/4 inch?

You should be able to get a 1/4 inch by adjusting the shifter linkage. Loosen the nuts and adjust the shift where you want it. Then retighten the nuts and make sure the shifter is not to tight to cause it to bind. If I remember correctly I don't believe the shifter is supposed to be at more than a 90 degree angle.

Seriously? Look at the shift linkage and give it some thought. Can you see ways to move the shifter up/down? If not... put down the tools and step away from the motorcycle.
This is my first time working on my motorcycle on the foot control side of things. Thought I'd ask here to get some answers. Visually, nope haven't looked. Never thought about it until I saw this post too. Might even read the manual regarding it later on. I also just don't do anything without getting info first. Thanks for the help!

I just like to be careful. I don't want to just jump into something and screw it up. On my dirt bike you moved the actual shifter on the splines. I didn't know if I needed to move the gear on the tranny or make the adjustment through the linkage.

When I installed my heel/toe shifter and the pretty shift linkage I had to finesse the toe height perfectly to get both up and down shifts to work. At first the heel shifter was hitting the floor board before the gear was fully shifted and was giving me missed shifts. 10 minutes of fussing with it and now it shifts perfectly every time up and down. Within reason you can adjust the lever to any height you want although the owner's manual will make suggestions. If your boots are a bit taller than average, you may want the shifter a bit higher, etc.

I will never understand people's reluctance to use a heel-toe shifter on a bike with floor boards. I mean geez guys.. it's what it was put there for! You barely have to move your foot, it's always a 'downward' motion and you don't have to worry about scuffing your perty boots. Actually put a little time to learn to use it and you'll never want to go back...
