Just curious as to how many people have bought the extended warranty and or how many people think it is worth it. I know it a personal decision in the end butjust wantrd to see your thoughts on it. I have thr 5 year warranty myself and the last thing the dealer said before I rode of was make sure you come in for the 500 mile service or it will void the warranty if I don't. Thats been rubbing the wrong way ever since. I dont know if its true but I have been told its not. Then will parts be available and will they honor it if I have like a stage one set up on it. Im debating on cancelling it.

If you ride enough, say 10k miles + a season, any serious problems that may exist will show up during the 2 year manufacture warranty period. If you're one that doesn't ride much, I would get the extended warranty. The worst thing for a motorcycle is sitting around or lots of short 2 mile rides all season long. If you live within 250 miles of one of the tuning guru's I would definitely skip the extended warranty. Those are my two cents, but like you said it's a personal choice.

I have had my bike 5 years now .... didn't do the 5 year thingy..... and happy for it.
YMMV

30 month old, 23,000 mile Harley Road Glide. Cruise stopped working. 4 repair trips later the dealer replaced the ECM. Total repairs were around $1700. I did have ESP. My cost $50. The ECM was the cause of the sporadic cruise not engaging. Tow things, kinda shows that there is no such thing as after 2 years no major problems and the Guru's will still have to charge you or send you to the dealer.

Yes, I bought the ext. warranty on the CCT. Also bought the tire and wheel package. After 25 years of riding the horrible Northeast pot hole roads without an incident or warranty, I picked up a large chunk of metal in the rear tire on the smooth paved roads of Florida. Free tow, tire and labor from Victory dealer that sold it to me. Bonus; tire had 12,500 miles on it and was just over 3/32 so it qualified.

You just never know.

Apples and oranges when it comes to the ECM issue. I've been reading the posts on this forum for 5 years and have yet to hear of a single Victory ECM going bad. Sure it's in the realm of possibility, but so is getting struck by lightening.

You missed the main point. Shyt happens when and where it wants. Harley or Vic. If another 25+/- a month on your loan won't break you, then consider getting 5 years of piece of mind riding, because .....you just never know. (Main Point)

I did not miss your point, I just think your example was poor. I do agree crap happens. The truth of the matter is, if something does happen to your bike you're going to get it repaired a hell of a lot faster paying for the repair out of pocket vs waiting and praying for an extended warranty claim to go through. Trust me, I had a porous head on my bike and it took 3 months and a 2nd dealer before I got it repaired...and that was under the manufacture warranty. On certain model 2016/2017 HDs it's totally worth it and a no brainer. I can't say the same with a 2016/2017 Victory as they haven't changed much for years and the bikes are rock solid.

Hey Mike, read my posting below about the engine knock that my bike developed and what I went through. Extended warranty saved my $850. Some don't believe in it. Don't pay the money, you take your chances is the way I look at it.

Engine knocking repaired...

Extended warranty on a $50 table radio? Never. Extended warranty on a multi-thousand $$ bike with hundreds upon hundreds of parts, any expensive one that could go south, absolutely.

I bought the 4 year extended warranty with unlimited mileage and 0 deductible for $1,000 after negotiating down from $2,200. This on top of the standard warranty.
Extended warranty worth it ? An example-
Wife's '12 Ford truck 4WD bought new. At 1 year old the transfer case went out, a$3,500 job that cost her $100. Move up a few years and a bad valve shows up in the right cylinder head, another $3,500 bill that cost her $100. These problems could've happened to a brand of truck and similar problems to any brand of motorcycle.

Used to be you coudn't sell me an extended warranty on a vehicle until a Ford Truck tranny gave up the ghost in my wife's Lincoln. 3K out of warranty and got screwed. Then I bought a BMW (car)and did the warranty and broke even.

So yes, I did, but as the Bike seems as everyone says, could have been a waste. As for the 500 mile check-up, could depend on State as to the warranty. Most of us did it anyway...

No more Fords

I've usually bought the extended warranty on my bikes.

On my Pin the company denied a big claim and from my research they were just a sh!t company to begin with.

On my 13 Vision I made sure I knew more about the warranty company and decided to get it. I've made three claims without issue so far and honestly this time it has seemed to be a good idea.

But as you said it is a personal choice.

Thanks for the replies. I do have the 5 year but just after reading stories about how people have had to wait for awhile on warranty work vs cash repairs to get there repairs done and the dealers tring to deny claims becouse of tunes, fuel controllers and even read some about pipes that the dealer didnt install and them playing games on warranty claims. I might just cancel it have to think about it.

The 2 year manufacturer warranty covers just about everything major, engine and tranny anyways?

I got it, and I do all my own work. Though I work at the dealer I couldn't turn it down for the price. 7 years of full warranty.

I don't get extended warranties. I normally modify my bikes as soon as I get them. By the time I finish making them mine, there isn't much that the warranty would still cover anyway. If anything major happens, I'll pay for the parts and fix it, or pay to have it fixed if it is beyond my abilities. I've only used a manufacturer warranty once. It saved me about $100. Had I bought extended warranties, I would have spent several thousands of dollars on them for my bikes and ATV's over the years. The way I see it, I'm way ahead even if something major does go wrong.

FYI, when I first bought my bike brand new, they gave me the ext warranty. I had an issue with the tranny, polasses had the dealer dismantle the engine and trans, last year I had another dealer find out why I was leaking oil, a seal was damaged by the sprocket..... The dealer tried to get the warranty company to cover it, they said no, because the engine was already touched...

I've had a warranty claims at two different dealers. Not once was my bike put behind cash jobs nor did me doing my routine maintenance come into play. The job was sent in, approved, and then completed. The most I ever had to do was wait on a part but that was not an issue with the warranty, that was Ma Vic. Luckily the bike was still rideable to I didn't really mind.

I liken warranties to insurance..... I have never bought an extended warranty ever on anything that I can recollect at the moment...... I have paid heaps in full comprehension insurances for vehicles I have owned, over the years..... The system here is probably different than the US system though....

I had the car I own at the moment busted into by louts. They broke in by shattering the rear door quarter glass on one side...... Now by getting the insurance to cover getting it fixed, I was up for excess of 500 bucks no matter what it costs (It actually cost me 380 dollars and done at my place of residence.) Some people do not inquire and use the insurance no matter what! $500.00 excess, do the no claim in 5 years thing and insurance policy goes up a few dollars as well..... So really sometimes that insurance is looked upon as a waste as well, but it is there if needed for any major repair jobs etc......

For the XCT I didn't bother with the extended warranty either as I figured that if anything going to go wrong majorily will show itself within the first two years and thus far that is the way it is for my bike..... It is fully insured though......

I've never purchased an extended warranty but all three of the new Victory bikes I've bought had them as an intensive . 1999 V92C 1+4 years, 2004 V92TCD 1+3 years, & my '09 Vision Tour Premium came with 1+ 3 years. Only needed it on the '99 V92C & was I glad I had it & probably wouldn't have bought a 1st year production bike without it being offered. Saved me thousands of dollars when the transmission was replaced with an '03 trans & got installation of high compression pistons & Andrews cams basically for free as the motor was apart anyway for warranty work.

Not to drag this on but i went back and was reading some older post and also read my warranty info again.

Is there another warranty other then (polaris protection plan) which is what I have. It says. I have the 5 year term/60 months* inclusive to the manufacturers warranty which is 2 years I beileve. The cost was $1481.00. So am i only getting a 3 years @ $493.00 a year

On my decleration page it says in service date is 3/24/17 and expiration date is 3/24/2023???? 6 years So now im confused. Not hard to do. Haha

It also says i can add it any time before the manufacturers warranty ends. That is 2 years I believe, is there a mileage limit as well for factory warranty. I am woundering if it would be worth it to cancel and if i feel the need to add it before the 2 years is up then do it at that point? Does the extended service contract cover more then the factory 2 year covers or is it simply just an extension of the factory warranty sort of? The dealer did lie to me to. They said the bank wants the warranty to get the loan on the unpaid balance I had to finance. In the paper work it states ( purchase of this contract is NOT reqiured in order to obtain financing)

Factory warranty is 1 year that should cover most everything. Then your extended warrant kicks in that only covers the drive train. 1+5=6
That's why you run the hell out of 'em when new & make sure anything that's going to break happens under the factory warranty.
