I'm in the market for an all day comfortable seat. My stock does ok, but I want to eliminate the tail bone numbness if I can.

I've been researching threads on here and the Corbin and the Ultimate seem to come up the most. Lets settle this with a poll!

If it's an other, please let me know which one.

Thanks!

Hey there FoFo...another Ft Worth Vic rider here! Personally, I am a big fan of Russell Day-long seats. I don't have a Cross Roads, but do ride a Vision and I put a Russell on my bike about a year ago and can attest to the "all day comfort' pledge they make about the seat. It ain't cheap, but you get what you pay for.
I've had Corbin seats on a couple of bikes, and never liked them at all. Too hard and never bought into the idea that you had to ride the bike a lot to get the seat to form to your ass-end. I road both bikes for two years and the seat NEVER "confirmed". Looked great on the bikes, but my experience was that there was no comfort there at all after a couple of hours in the saddle. The Russell is a different story, though. I've put 8 hours a day for 2-3 days straight and never even thought about my ass hurting....because it didn't. Best of luck on your search for the perfect seat!

Thanks brother. I've come across their website and was curious. But I can't recall others mentioning the Russell here, until now. I'm adding them into my buying decision. Thanks!

We also need to get out and ride at some point!

I've used the Russells Day-Long on my last 2 bikes. None more comfortable for all day, day after day riding. About the same cost as a Corbin but it's a true custom.

Best advice I have ever received when it comes to seats... Find guys near you that have the seats you are interested in and trade seats with them for a ride. Try them all out until you find what you like. What I like may not be what you like.

Problem with seats is that there are too many variables. Higher, lower, forward, back, harder, softer, narrow, or wider, and every combination of each. That doesn't even take into account the coverings, if they have gel inserts, backrests, or if they are heated or not!

Great advice. @jwfuchs1 offered for me to test the Corbin, and now I have @Rockitman offering for me to test the Russell. All I need now is a volunteer with an Ultimate and I'm set. Thanks brother!

I love my Ultimate and since the factory is about a 30 minute ride from my house I went with them, plus it was about 1/3 the price of the Russell. Hands down I would buy one again, I do like the idea of the Russell but the cost and turn around time for me was just way out of the question. Oh and Ultimate has a 30 day money back guarantee, if you don't like it send it back.

The price is a bit better than the Russell. On the Ultimate the price is $525. The Russell will be between $520-$700. I do like the 30 day guarantee. I did read on the Russell website they'll refund your money up to 8 months as long as you give them 2 chances to adjust. The Ultimate can ship in 1-2 business days. I will need to wait on the Russell.

Do they offer Ultimate's that move you back some?

Decision getting harder.

I have a Corbin bought it during The Lone Star Rally. Broke it in on a ride to Cali. I went with Corbin 1 show price 2 free heat. 3 I'm short inseam and they could do a good nose job HEY they call it that!! The other seats looked like I would have to use my toes to touch the ground. Sold mattress for 20 years I understand pressure points.. I am satisfied with Corbin.

I like the Ultimate, but I am biased.... Have only ridden with the OEM and the Ultimate and have to say the ultimate certainly is more comfortable.....

I have been through a lot of seats in my life time. Wasted money on so many seats. Well when I bought my XR I decided it was time to try a Russel Day Long. I had never bought one because the older ones were so ugly but when you talked to the owners all they had was praise for how great the seat was. The newer seats are better looking and I decided to spend the bucks and have them make one to suit me. I have never been so happy with something I have bought in a long time. The seat fits me perfect. I needed more leg room and they gave it to me. Those wings sticking out on the side holds my worn out hips in a comfortable position. For me this is an awesome seat. Before I bought it it was all I could do to rid a 100 miles without being in pain. Now I am riding all day. I will say this if you go on opinions about buying a seat that will suit you then you will most likely be disappointed. A seat is one of those things that no two people are alike with. I had tried the Mustang,Corbin , Sargent and some other brands and they all sucked. You might like any of them but I did not. The Corbin was the worse seat ever. Since installing the Russel I have put over 20,000 miles on Vicky. My ass and back are very thankful. I cannot think the people enough at Russel who made my seat. It's friggin awesome.

My brother bought a gaudy whore of a bike this summer.. a Honda VTX 1300 with every gew-gaw you can buy for them. I nicknamed it 'the Harlot' the moment I saw it.. he even has a vanity plate with that on it. :) The point is, the ONLY thing on that bike that I'm envious of is the Ultimate seat that's on it. He insisted that we do a bike swap and go for a ride and i gotta say that seat is frickin amazing. I'm just running the stocker seat on my KPT but I do have a backrest and that's always been good enough for me on the KP, but that damn Ultimate seat.. wow. I've never spent a lot of money on seats, although i've made a lot of bad decisions trying to modify them but I'm seriously considering getting one for my old ass.

I thought I coud add Russell to the poll and move the other votes over, but couldn't do it. I did count the thread and Russell has 4 votes, the 3 others plus one. And the Ultimate is holding strong with 6 votes.

I'm surprised I'm not getting a lot of fans for Corbin. Interesting.

Be careful asking for opinions. They are like... Well... The part you are putting on the seat. Yours is the only one that matters!

That said, I have a Corbin on my M109R and I absolutely love it. I can ride it all day multiple days in a row and be comfortable the whole time. I tried an ultimate on my M109, but it pushed me too far forward. It was otherwise, very comfortable, but I didn't ride with it long because it was too uncomfortable being pushed that far forward. The Corbin is a firm seat where as the ultimate was softer. The Corbin also positions you lower in the bike and a little further back. I'm not sure how all this translates to Victory since I haven't ridden with either of them on my Magnum, but figured I would add my opinion to the mix.

Your best bet is to try them all, then get what fits you the best.

Well really you question was/is which of these seats are the best.... Most of the answers were to do with only trying one other apart from the OEM seat so really the poll is no further ahead than to say the Ultimate appears to be the most used...... maybe any of the others will suit you better..... Buy one of each and come back with a review of each......

Corbin's CAN be comfortable.. but I think for the most part they are a designer seat intended to LOOK good first, FEEL good second. In a lot of cases a Corbin seat will be more comfortable than a stock seat. I would be curious to see how many people have sat on Corbin AND an Ultimate or Russell Day Long to see what their opinions are then. There's also the difference between the design of a seat.. like @Poseidon said having it sit lower/further back can equate to a better ride for certain individuals. I had an aftermarket seat on my V92C that I hated.. it made me sit up further and it was stiff as a rock. I bought a stock seat and put that on the front and was happy. When my son got his V92C he put the Corbin on and loved it over the stock seat, and so did my Dad when he got the bike. Only way to be certain is to put your butt in the saddle and try it yourself.. and that's not always an easy proposition.

The Russells offers free modifications for a year to get it right for you. The Cross country stock seat was too low for me. My knees were above my hips and is caused pain. Russells raised my seat up and back an inch from stock. After a few months I was very comfortable but my wife wasn't. They raised her seat up and back as well. Now we're both very happy. Corbin will only rework their seat for free if it doesn't require a seat cover modification. If it requires modifying the seat cover then there's a charge. Both are within a few hours from me and I live closer to Corbin than Russells but comfort was the most important aspect for me. Corbin does have a cool tour if you're in the area though.

A Corbin is no match to a Russel Day Long. The Corbin is made to fit a wide array of people. The Russel is made to fit you. I emailed them a lot of pictures of me on the bike. I sent them my inseam and a picture showing the width of my butt. I have never had a Corbin that I liked. The Mustang I had on my VTX was a lot better then any Corbin I have had but even the Mustang is no match for the Russel. That's just my opinion and it probably ain't worth a crap :beatdeadhorse:

I don't think you can get one that moves you back, call and ask, I found them very helpful.
Not being from the US I would also have to add shipping and duties to something coming across into Canada and then the exchange rate too, when I got my Ultimate the price was a bit less than that and in Canadian dollars so put all those thing together and it makes quite a difference. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples, I seem to remember when I had the Russell decked out the same as the Ultimate the Russell was closer to $900, plus shipping, etc...As for the adjustments, that is a good idea but more shipping costs and less riding time so not really an option for me.
I found both the Corbin and Mustang were way too hard for my tender behind!
You can get the Russell heated where the Ultimate is not heated.
Ultimate moves you up about an inch and forward maybe an inch.
Make sure to get the back rest with the Ultimate as I found it made a massive difference.
The Ultimate does rub on the inside of the tank, not a big deal as it is not seen.
I believe Russell had a "ride in" appointment where you could just ride there and they would measure you and do your seat right then. Of course for me that would be a 4 to 5 ride ride each way...hmm, I never thought of it that way, might be a good idea???

I don't remember Corbin charging me extra for having to change the cover then again I went to Hollister to have this done. I know my seat was highly modified from the stock Corbin. I was trying to get lower in the saddle and further back. My Dad's is even lower and further back. I actually like his more. I'm on the taller side and like to be stretched out while riding.

Yeah, the others say they will raise you up to an inch and a half. But at 6'8", I'm not too concerned about that. Is the corbin comfortable? Can you ride all day for multiple days?
I noticed when I went to Cali my Butt didn't hurt at the end of the day. My next long run will be early Summer. But for 200 mile rides I like it.

I have been thinking about getting Russell Day Day Long seat make over . Looking for anyone in the North Florida Jacksonville area that I could get a look at before I do. The wife and I can't ride very long with the OEM seat have checked the Ultimate but would like to keep my heated seat. I am just not sure with out getting an eyeball and possibly setting on one before I go to that expense this is more then likely my last bile and have to make the best of it.
