Bought a new 17 CCT and love it. I had the bike for 35 days when the bike left me on the side of the road.I am NOT a tech guy so my description might not be the best. Was riding and lost power in the transmission. Shifted gears and twisted the throttle just to hear motor noise but no acceleration. Could feel the gears shifting but the digital readout was not responding. I was not getting any power to the transmission. Had the bike towed to the dealer I bought it from.

Turns out that when the bike was built the clutch cable was not adjusted properly causing my clutch plates to never fully disengage and burned up all the plates. Has anyone else had this problem?? I'm told these are supposed to be shiny.

That does stink but I blame the dealer for not setting the bike up properly before delivery.

when I got my bike, the clutch was all wrong set up, I adjusted it as I thought it would be good for me, and a few weeks later downloaded the shop manual from Bbob and yes of course it was correct, don't need a manual for that,

anyway I went to the Vic shop and checked all the clutches settings and half of them were "off'" .... needless to say many clutches got waisted here and I'm still on my original

moral of this story, check your s.h.i.t, don't trust a shop to do it for you ....

SORRY FOR YOUR MISSHAPEN

Dealers don't care...mechanics paid minimum wage....high turnover...no supervision= burnt clutch....

I just broke a clutch cable (my fault) anyway I was at a large motocycle event...say 5 new XC's....none of them had any grease on the cable by the lower nerl....dealers don't care....

A little off topic MAXX, anyone.. ever notice guys pulling clutch lever all the way to the grip out of habit when not necessary?? I find mine only needs about 1/3 the distance if that when adjusted properly. My Road Star was very pretty much the same. Surely it wears more on the cable being somewhat stiff to begin with.

Agree...after 1st gear just give it a stab...or better yet....just push the button...

That is sweet & first I've seen posted. Have to admit I'd like it, probably a little odd at first.

In future, do the clutch cable maintenance as shown in this video and you'll be just fine.

The dealer is supposed to set the bike up and that is part of it. Did they charge you for set up?

Well hopefully it being repaired under warranty soon but clutches are a wear item that possibly Victory could deny a warranty claim on especially since it was the dealers error by not adjusting it properly before delivery.

Please let us know the outcome and it would be a good idea to change the oil and filter during clutch replacement and again in 500 miles to make sure you got all the clutch debris out.

Good info. I've had my XC since Friday. Got just under 200 miles on it. Saw this thread and checked my cable. It was tight. No play at all. Glad I found it before I put many miles on it. The throttle has no play in it either. May need to loosen it up. I noticed there's no lube on the clutch cable either. Gonna fix that tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for the posts and the info. Yes I was charged setup and as soon as the bike is in my hands I will be going after them for it. Yes they did the 500 mile inspection also. I have learned a lot and glad to see that my post has helped at least 1 other person.

The end result. Lou8700, Polaris did warranty the clutch and I spole in depth with one of the techs on the phone after pulling up my case. They cannot definitively say weather the dealer did not set it up properly or if it was rider failure. I assured him that in the 32 years and 4 bikes I have had, I have never even broke a cable. Took the dealer 21 days from start to finish to repair this. When I got the bike back, rode it home and washed it the next day just to find that the left side heat shield was not attached properly and I was lucky it did not come of in the 47 mile ride home. I took video of the connections (2) being loose and sent it to the dealer. I have heard nothing back from them about it. Not even an apology. So at this point I will call them out Cliff's Cycles in Bremerton, Washington USA will never see my bike again.

Dealer prep has always been a pain in my side. If they want to sell the product then they should make sure it is ready to go without charge. As a tech I would get paid for dealer prep from the factory, they used to allow at least an hour and as high as 2 hours for more complicated preps. I quit being a tech because of the crooked ways dealers treated customers. Customers are the only way you stay in business and good customer service sells more product than a quality product can sell itself. I hope when I finally pull the trigger on a CCT it is ready to go. I bought a wing so I could just get on it and go but it spent more time in the shop than on the road. My old Evo was a more reliable machine.
