Well, I looked at the schematic.... Four screws hold the red brake light. 3 screws hold the chrome "v" on. From the pictures, it looks very simple. I was thinking about doing the same thing.

 

I've done this job recently. Taking off the rear fender will make things much easier for you. Don't try to do this from under the bike... It will take forever getting around that box. Removing the fender isn't that hard really.

Once you're under the fender, you'll realize how simple the jobwas. Hose down the outer wheel well while you have the fender off just to keep things tidy. Apparently, a lot of dirt gets in there.

I suppose that was the question really. Will the three bolts that hold the chrome V release it, or do you have to get into the brake light mounting as well, (up behind that box)

Horse, thanks for the offer.Taking off the rear guard is probably the right way to go, but I'd prefer to go for a ride than get into that.

 

if there is chrome in evolved it has to be stripped off before power coating

 

THe 3 bolts will release....however the 2 turn signal clips...whole different story. Trying to get 2 hands up there is not much fun. I could definitelysee taking the fender off as being the way to go.
