I've been wanting to cruise up into Michigan for several years now.
I'd really like to ride through the "Tunnel of Trees" on route 119, then across the Mackinaw Bridge and down routes 2 and 41 towards Chicago and then home.

I forgot to add M-26 out to Copper Harbor.

Tunnel of trees is best seen during the "colors"....BUT should be ridden on a weekday....weekends can end up stop and go. That being said I live in Houghton Lake, MI on the water and would welcome a group stay and ride with you. My riding buddies up here and I can take you on some great rides here for day or two or whatever. I have sleeping for 6, more if don't mind floor. Also can get deal @$55 at motel in town on the lake. Let me know any plans, I'm gain for anything, as long as I'm not on another ride. Dean @ im12stpn@hotmail.com

MI north of Bay City/Midland is beautiful country and I too would love to join a ride this summer.

Deal me in to. This August I am headed to Tofte MN for three nights with a group from St Louis. Then we will swing down to Silver City MI for three nights there. I have spent a few days on the MN North shore of Lake Superior before and had a great time exploring the area and am looking forward to seeing whats on the Michigan side. From what I've heard doing the entire circle around the lake isn't that great. Any body do the whole circle, what did you think?

As a kid, I lived in a small town [Honor] in west Mi, Near Empire , Sleepy Bear dunes, etc.
Over the years have traveled there for vacation many times. Tunnel of trees ride is a must see...stop in at the Legs Inn , in Cross Village good food & drink...+ a beautiful Lake Michigan view from the back patio...[hope the weather is good] ! Ride the bridge {Big-Mac} for sure...but the best view [of] the bridge IMO is from Mackinaw City....some 'bridge-view' motels are pricey , but have a good view. Kick back with an adult beverage and just enjoy. Check out the Riviera ?

Head on up to the U.P. & see Tahquamenon Falls in Paradise, & the Soo-Locks in Sault ste Marie . And not to be missed !!......Pictured Rock national shoreline , just east of Munising .......

If I can get some arthritis relief by then ? I might just meet-up with you guys.........In the mean time, I don't mean to sound like your "cruise director" .....I can just babble about Michigan & motorcycle travel there.

I need to get out more. I'm not too familiar with any of these routes and I've lived here most my life. I hope someone takes the lead here with planning, (and riding) I figured I'd just throw it out there and hopefully someone with experience can show a young buck the way.

I'm up for any of the aforementioned suggestions, preferably a day trip with some good sights and eats.

M22 from Maniste to Traverse City would be high on my list.

My two buddies and I ride 200-300 miles around north/east/west of here very Wednesday for the past 5 years, so know ALL the great roads...trust me...scenery and lots of curvy roads to. Michigan is a beautiful state and roads up here are GREAT....just have to watch out for deer and turkey!
I'll let you know when available after Aug 14th. Leaving here July 22nd for Seattle, WA for 3+ weeks (anyone interested in joining let me know, 2 bikes w/wives so far, singles ok too).

I'd love to go too if available. I would second M22 and M119 actually the whole West coast is nice.

I live on the west coast and have done multiple rides up to the Bridge on M22 and 119 it takes a long time 12 hrs if you are site seeing and riding fast but yes the west coast is beautiful from Saint Jo all the way to the Bridge some time around end of August I may be able to go
..girlfriend wants to go to Montana then but if we don't go.. I'm in for a ride around that time Sturgis falls in there somewhere so the roads might be a little less traveled... I don't know the U.P. that well but lower west MI pretty familiar...12step can lead when we get up to his area beautiful up there and nothing like a local to show you the area...

I always do that ride once a year anyway so not a problem... But people coming from the south and east we can start at my house in Muskegon..

I am heading up that way in a few weeks...only as far as Muskegon to take the express over the Milwaukee. On the way back, we have a day free to ride in Michigan...any suggestions within a few hours of Muskegon? Thanks...and will keep August in mind down the way

ACE22, PM me when you are going I am usually available to ride so if you want a guide on your free day let me know be more than happy to show you around...I ride kinda fast but if you do not I can tame it down for the day...I don't like any one riding out of there comfort zone..Everyone rides fast and take' s chances at there own level..all about having fun and getting home safe...
