Pretty basic hey!
Well I did it two nights ago on a lonely dark downhill road that was getting narrower.
Swung into the driveway of a house to give myself more room to turn, didn't fully take into account the slope of the driveway going away from me in the direction I was trying to turn!!!
Then it all went wrong!!!

All I recall is I must've touched the front brake causing gravity to take over and pivot the bike, and me, into the hard cold ground!!!

I'm laying on the ground with my right leg under the bike...
Got my leg out and stood up, leg hurting just below knee but not broken, knew that cos I was standing up..

Next to try and get bike up on its wheels, after turning it off....
It was still running!
Trouble was the slope and the bike was laying past horizontal..
What a mess...

Struggled in vain to lift the bike but gravity and the slope said NO!!!
I kept trying ...
Gave up and rang a friend who was only 15 mins away.
He drove out to where I was and the two of us got the bike, my Yellow Kingpin back onto its wheels with the stand down...
But even so, with the slope it was on it was unsteady.
Graham held the bike while I got my helmet and gloves back on and sat on the bike and slowly edged it backwards to a more stable position where I started the bike up...
Then ride the rest of the way home.

Front fenders scraped, front brake lever bent but not broke.
Bike had been basically laying on the lever the fender and the saddlebag and those contact points took damage...

Me ..yeah I did too...
Swelled up leg hurting,
Badly bruised ego....not that anyone witnessed my stupid action.
But best I come clean about it here as it may save someone else making the same stupid mistake 🤬

I get to laugh. You know why already.

Hang in there. better luck next time. next time this happens make sure you can put the blame on local gov and make a claim.
I accept full responsibility for my feckup..

Oh man. Sorry to hear and see motorbikerx. Those slow motion maneuvers can get you at times and it happened to me on my last motorcycle trip with the bike loaded down, including the wife. The stupidest place in the world, which was at the top of an exit ramp that had what I call a NASCAR curve to it and when I went to put my foot down to the right, I was already leaned in that direction and with the weight of the bike, she just went down. The motion of front brake and lean angle with extra weight and I couldn’t stop it. Luckily no one was hurt and my forged crash bar took the brunt of it all. A speedy recovery to you and the yellow beast.

Sorry to hear that. Can always fix the bike. Glad you came out of undamaged for the most part.

Yeah it's basic physics gone wrong, accentuated by the slope of the roadway, tiredness, darkness , and age too I guess..

Rear brake would've been a helluva lot better 💡

My Kuryakyn crash bars have saved my Pin from damage in the past. Last 2 times it was down it was uphill to get back up and I needed help to lift it.

Thankfully the worst damage ‘may’ be the saddlebag. Black shoe polish and a shoe repair shop can likely get that mostly corrected.

Your sore leg may take longer to get back to full strength. See a doctor and maybe get some physical therapy as well.

As we all know, stuff happens in real time and hindsight should always be 20/20. Analysis is great but don’t over do it to the point of second guessing yourself too much.

Stopping on a banked surface is the main reason I only installed a run flat car tire once. My leg strength certainly isn’t what it used to be.

Heal up completely and if needed, maybe use this incident to get a new helmet if need be.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Ouch. Glad it wasn’t worse.
I kind of pride myself on my balance at slow speed. Apparently I was overconfident because I almost came to a stop at an intersection in my neighborhood and as I saw it was clear let the clutch out while turning left And bike turns off and I drop it. I hadn’t downshifted into first and killed it. Thankfully no noticeable damage. A slight paint scrape on the bottom of the left highway bar And a bruised ego.

You left out the croc bite to the foot.

Hope you heal up soon. Bike can be fixed.

I'm happy to have lots of tip over protection because I've used it many times. A handful of front brake when wheel turned and car comes out of nowhere as I'm creeping into traffic was one.

Doubt I'll repaint the whole bike, everyone loves it, even people who wouldn't normally like a motorcycle.
Never know though we me.

Well it’s your to do as you like with it. We’re just glad you and the bike will be back on the road. That bike is a piece of Vog History.
As you are ! Ride on brother !
