Damn !....every time I look @ my XR , or a pic of another.....I get pissed.

The platform of the XR is my favorite. Just a good basicmotorcycle , naked with a nice set of bags, and a w/shield. Not all gadgeted?...up. I don't bash other brands, so I won't but. For me Victory got it right ....and now they are no more..damn sad.

If I were younger I'd be tempted to buy another just for spare parts down the road. But I'm nearing the end of my riding so....

I did some checking and it seems [depending on where ya look] their value has dropped like a rock. No surprise really. How many want an outta-production motorcycle? {Think Gilroy , the RockHill Indians} ?

Maybe some day way down the road they will achieve collector status?...and acquire some value then?

They'll just be another page in a motorcycle book 50 years from now.

Victory is closing? :22yikes:

Sorry, couldn't resist... :angel4:

No regrets here either....& like was said,.... I'm not concerned so much about resale value....

It's just a shame that they stopped production. I do though think about those guys [particularly the younger guys] that might want to buy one,...and now find it hard to get a loan . There is no value in the motorcycle.....doubt banks will be quick to finance??

Maybe we need a MEGA "Victory is no more" giant thread all of these can be merged into.

If a general consensus is to do so then I'll do it.

OK, I'm gonna pick at this scab one more time...

A few months ago I was characterized as a "sky is falling" naysayer on the topic of parts availability, but in those months the situation has only gotten worse.

I ordered @bobzinger's list of shift parts (Looking for shifter ratchet) a month ago from VictoryPartsPro, because I've popped out of second several times and wanted to have everything I needed to replace next winter, or at least have them on hand, because I don't trust Polaris to have anything available when I might need it. I'm still waiting. I called VictoryPartsPro (several times; their communication is terrible, by the way) and they informed me that Polaris didn't ship all the parts I ordered. They tell me that they should be able to get them this week, but I'm not holding my breath.

And then there's the fuel filter, which the delivery date has been moved back on (for about the fifth time) to the end of July. Please, this isn't another fuel filter thread, but think about this: Victory is not officially discontinued yet. If I was a complete neophyte I could go to a Victory dealer who still has bikes in stock and buy a brand new 2017 Cross Country Tour to take my dream retirement trip all over the US (including the Alaska Highway), Nova Scotia, etc. and put 30000 miles on it. Then, since I follow my owners manual to the letter, take it back to my dealer for the 30000 mile service which calls for a new fuel filter and find out that they're not available for the motorcycle I spent $23000 on months earlier.

Sorry, but the sky is falling. Polaris doesn't give fuk one about Victory owners.

I like the "Vic is dead" thread mash-up idea. Makes sense to do that really. And of course, if that is what will be done, we have to get one more of these in there for good measure.

There, that felt pretty good. Carry on then!

The Gilroy bikes were riddled with recalls when the tent folded. Serious recalls at that. I can't say anything about the Kings Mountain bikes.

If you like your cross roads bike, then ride it. Who cares what it's worth to someone else. We don't buy bikes to resell them. They aren't investments. They are fun, an escape, a different persona from what we really are. Put 200,000 miles on it and who really cares what it resells for then. You got your money out of it. If in that time it still looks great, someone will buy it. If they aren't giving you enough $$, then keep it. Unless you're facing a divorce or need bail money. That's when you dump it. Freedom surpasses money. Ask anyone who's facing divorce to needs bail!

Until it doesn't run because you're waiting on a critical part. So you scour Craigslist and ebay for six months. I'm into antique bikes, and that's what I do for them; sometimes it takes a year. Not what I want to do for my daily rider.

After looking very closely into an Indian Roadmaster or Chieftain then Can Am F3T.. I decided to keep my Vision till something big grenades on her or until I get tired of her. The vision still drives the HD crowd crazy. The Vision has a unique look and. Ergos like no others. I was going trade her in for a CCT later this year or early '18. But guess not.
Really not worried about trade in value... This industry is paid for by Toy $$$. Perception/value is a personal choice. So as I look out onto BMW, Indian, Can Am, Yamaha and who else... She still makes me smile... And as long as she looks after me... I'll look after her... CRAP is it true? You can only use Victory oil??

@El_Spanky Of the three you listed as replacement candidates there I had the most fun on the Spyder. That F3T rocks brother! And I'll not bash the Chieftain or the Roadmaster, they are good machines. But I don't fit on them, and anyway Polanus will not get anymore of my money. Screw me once...

I agree on the value thing too. I gave up on this Vision having any resale value now, that is just gone. F*ck you very much Scott Wine. But that machine is still valuable TO ME. So for now it stays in the stable. I still gotta figure out what I really want in my next bike. At present I am all over the map, and you can't be all over the map and make important decisions. I don't have to decide today. I'll cross that bridge when it comes. I'm just going to keep riding.

Oh my gawd. What will we do when Vic is done..... I mean, where are we going to buy Victory oil?! Cuz ya'all know these bikes won't run on other oils... not to mention full syn :banghead:
Jesus Christ, this isn't about oil, where are you going to get a stripped 3rd gear? Sheesh.
