I bought a "Victory" cover for my XCT, after a couple of months I noticed the tail light was getting scratches all over it. Also after a rain the light had water in it. I files a claim with Victory and they said it is not covered.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Update: The first Victory dealer in Jacksonville FL. said the extended warranty won't cover the light (the bike is over 1 year old) Next I contacked a dealer in Arkansa, two week later the light was replaced FREE. The scratches were on the light not the paint, I have not used the motorcycle cover with the light.

I had a similar issue where water was entering the rear light and fogging it up in addition to the clear coating on the lights lens area peeling off. After fighting with Polaristar since July 2013 they just outright denied the claim. Calls to the 1-866-301-7375 claims number on my own have resulted in being put on hold indefinately or the system telling me they are closed. Wanting to see if anyone else has had the light replaced under the extended warranty with Polaristar or if they are denying everyone.

Best wishes. Others could be right about the add on thing. Mine went out on my XCT after about 6 months. Funny it spent 2 of those in the shop. Anyway IIRC the unit was about $150. I've been less than impressed when dealing with Vic, many of the same problems trying to get a wiring harness replaced that you describe in your other post, and with the dealer I stumbled in to. I ponied for the wiring harness. LED lighting should last almost for ever if done correctly.
Probably enough to not go a second round. Nice rider, comfort that isn't there on any other bike, but the trust in it isn't there. Hasn't stranded me, but do not trust it isn't coming.
Hope it works out for you.

They replaced mine, but I got the idea that it was under duress. My dealer actually went to bat for me and got it replaced. Polaris started by saying that it was impossible for the light to get water in it. Well pictures are worth a thousand words and good dealer a million more!!

Typical Victory attitude. What a shame. Great bikes, crappy company.
OTOH, if you take the trunk off, you don't have to worry about it getting scratched or water getting in it. :) I got the Vision cover as one of my free accessories but never used it as I realized how crappy the paint was before I unrolled the cover.

First, not sure what the significance of "scratches" on my trunk light is???????? Does it ahve something to do with your cover? If so, not sure why Polaris/Victory would be responsible for "scratches"????

Second, I have a 2012 CCT and have rode in drizzle, pouring down rain, sleet, and snow, and have had no issues with my trunk light.

Third, I do agree that Polaris/Victory are very difficult with warranty issues as I had a LFL, Fuel Gauge, Gas Tank issue during the initial 12 month warranty period, and basically ripped my Dealer on reimbursing them for their time investigating the issue.

i've got water/condensation in my tail light as well as scratching that showed up out of nowhere.
I thought about figthing it but did that road with Polaris once in while eventually I won, it was a PITA. Since it's not that expensive of a part I just decided to suck it up.
I did fight for a change of my saddle bag protectors that were rusting since those aren't cheap by any means.

First saw this taillight problem at Victory Owners Ride last year in Daytona.. walked by a CCT and it looked like the lens plastic was "peeling" or delaminating.. looked like hell... well.. now I notice mine is doing the exact same thing.. its a 2012 so no luck on warranty but clearly there is a manufacturing problem..

It is the UV coating that is peeling off. If you buy a turtle wax brand scratch repair kit at Auto Zone you can remove that coating then put on a good protective wax/polish, I recommend Liquid Glass, put at least 5 coats on to start but make sure you let the polish cure for four hours between coats then do one coat a day for the next 25 days and that will build up a good hard protective layer on the trunk tail light that will protect it from UV rays.

I did this with my trunk light as it had just started to bubble the coating. When I was done the light looked like it was brand new again.
