Victory makes great bikes. Just returned from a 3,000 mile, 18 day ride in rain, heat, up & down hill, country lane - interstates with zero problems with the Hammer. Combined a trip to Lloydz for new pipes and tubes with a HS reunion. Had to replace the back tire but it had over 11,000 miles on it. I'm ready to point the bike in another direction and go again! I know how this group likes pics so here goes: Bike pre Lloydz

Good post. Lucky the bag didn't catch, but it looks like it took the worst of it. Nice pics, too Rob
The bag is a MotoCentric roll tail bag. It's a great bag that uses bungee cords to attached the bag to the fender. On this day, I was in a hurry to get going and wasn't careful about attaching the bag. After two hours on the interstate in PA, I heard a strange sound. Couldn't make out what it was but I reached behind me. "OH NO, WHERE'S THE BAG!" Pulled to the side of the interstate and there was the bag, on the pavement, attached to the bike by one cord whos end had somehow be wedged between the tail light and turn signal. I remembered a big bump many miles back but don't know it that is when the bag came off or not. The bag was a mess. Holes everywhere, one the handles all but gone, rips galore but the bag held together. Several of the zippers were torn loose but none had popped open. Nothing was lost and the computer inside was fine. I ordered another one and had it deliverd to my destination three days ahead. In the meantime, I went to Walmart and got and bag and bungee cords you see in the pictures. The new bad is inside.

Looks like a great trip on a great bike. Love the Hammer. Is that a Cortech Super 18 Liter Magnetic Tank Bag I see?
You have sharp eyes. That is the 18 liter Cortech bag, a wonderful bag. I have several Cortech products and they are all excellent. It was a great trip.

I have one just like it. Very good bag. Just haven't had a chance to take it on a long trip. Holds my camera and lenses, trust it completely.

Great pictures and great story. After seeing what that bag wnet though and the fact that is kept your computer safe, I'd say you made believers out of all of us! Where do I get one?

I use Motorcycle Gear for most of my purchases: http://www.motorcyclegear.com/ I think this time I bought the bag from Motorcycle Superstore : www.motorcycle-superstore.com/

You need to send your story and the picture of the bag to the company that makes it. They would probably love the publicity and you might just get another free bag or two out of it.

Take a look at my profile pics- huge believer that a Hammer can tour effectively. A quick change of windshield (I have the Vic lock and ride), bags, and Kewl Rack- and I have as much capacity as some touring bikes. 10 mins later, those things are off and I have power cruiser again. Magic

Putter....you should meet Stoggy on the VMC. He has a Hammer and has been to every state in the lower 48....I think he even went to Alaska on is hammer. Pretty impressive.

I saw him briefly at the SE Rally a couple weeks ago. First saw his bike at that rally at the 2011 rally. He is my hero. Ride's the Hammer all the time and constantly working to improve it. If there was ever a vote, I would choose it as the No 1 Victory in the country. It's no garage queen but a beauty none the less.

Putter, Sorry I couldn't show you some of the roads here in PA. Wish the weather would have been a little better for you too. It has been a warm year so far but a bit on the damp side. I enjoyed the short time we spent talking. Glad we had the chance. Good the hear that you trip went ok. Ride Safe, Smoke
