No ride today, (mandatory weather report: 78 and perfect). Wife bought me a new "gift" so I spent the day using my new yard toy, a new blower, oh joy.... This business of yard maintenance is seriously cutting into my ride time.
Gotta love your sons. Due to MSF coaching and ride time my son comes over to do the yard... It will be a great summer!

I bought the clear international front turn signal lenses for my Vision from Witchdoctors. The bike is in the shop for collision damage repair so I took the opportunity to have the lenses replaced with ones I really like. The insurance will cover a part of the cost because I destroyed the OEM orange colored lens on the left side when I fell over on that side. I do not recommend getting into your $500 deductible for a $200 upgrade but once I was there I thought why not do it?

I'd like to see pics when it is out of the shop.

I went down to the garage and looked at mine; 15+ inches of fresh snow, and now blizzard conditions. Too many of the nice days the past 3 weeks have been filled with yard work and other work that required warmer weather to be able to ride much...

What a great idea, Well its been a couple of weeks ago, beautiful EasterSunday here in SD so my wife on her Vegas Low, my Brother on his 2011 CR and me on my 2012 CR took off. I can't explain the feeling to check your mirrors and see your wifeand your bro in them riding and enjoying the ride just as much as I was. We rode around Eastern SD then in MN for the much needed Ice Cream stopthen back to Sioux Falls, it was a great day, a great ride.

Big Wave Dave.

My Madstad windshield and brackets arrived today, took about 15 mnutes to install on my
013 XCT.I think it looks good and will test it out tomorrow. I will post the results.
I'm 5'7 plus a 1/2 inch so Icalled Madstad to ask which shield height I should go with
because their website says 'up to 5'7" theyrecommend the 9" shield - 5'8" to 6'1" they
saygo with the 11" screen. The person I spoke to said togo with the 11". Looks like
the 11"is going to be perfect. I have it set to its lowest setting and I cansee over the
top whensitting up straight but can also duck down enough to get behind it if needed
without beingtoo bent over. So that gives me plenty of adjustment upward if I need or
want to raise it.It seemed a bit funky looking after looking at that big tour windshield
but once I stepped back andlooked at the whole bike, it doesn't look out of place.
I like it. Tomorrow will tell if everythingfolks aresaying (about how nice they work) is true.

O.K. The Madstad has been on for a few days and a couple hundred miles and I am very
happy with it.So great to be out from behind that stock Tour shield. I wear a Schuberth
modular helmet and am getting no buffetting at all. I can ride with the face shield up and
get some air and I can see clearlyover the top of the 11" screen. But..... for shorter
riderslike myself....the 11" shield height works great onlevel roads and hiways...
what I am noticingis when cruising back roads and going up a hill, the top edgewill be
directly in my line of sight so I have to sit up straight to see over it. So for that reason
I think the 9"shield would eliminate that because I could raise it an inch and have a 10"
shield height instead of an 11"shield heightthat can't be lowered (only raised) since it
is at the lowest setting already. So I think the Madstadrecommendations for shield height
are right on for most people. I tend to pop up in my seatanyway when going over a hill
and sitting up straight always is better on the back but if you tendto slouch when you
ridethenthe shorter shield will give you that extra inch or two visibility over thetop of the shield.
Just my 2 cents worth...

Today, I changed the oil. Roughly 4200 miles on the first run of spectro. As a matter of fact it's been so smooth and quiet I didn't even realize I passed 3500, which is about where I normally do it. New wix filter, 4l spectro golden 4, and just for kicks tossed a can of seafoam in there too (in the gas tank, that is).

Been keeping an eye on the rear tire, as I have a new one in the garage waiting, right now at 9k miles and it does look like it's about to get naked but no metal to be seen as yet. Starting to break loose when I goose the throttle on turns.

I freaked out a little when dumping the used oil into the jug, I noticed metal shavings in the drain pan. Then realized they were also on the sides and rim of the pan and remembered I'd been cutting some aluminum bars on the miter saw. I'll clean it out proper next time to be sure it's not something in the oil.

Not today but on Monday I adjusted clutch cable and took off floorboards and drilled plates to hold highway pegs into them. Started to get horrible weather so finished reinstalling on Tuesday.
