Welcome...I would definitely check out the Hammer or the Judge as both seem to be a good start from a rocket. This board is a great place to start your research, but it depends upon what kind of riding you plan on doing. I told myself I would never have a fairing bike, but after riding the Cross Country, I haven't looked back.

I would try and find a demo truck in your area,,,and ride'm all

Welcome and ride a few of them before you decide on the Vision lol. I lived in Reno for 50 years before retiring to AZ. You've got sone great rides in the Sierras just a short season for it depending on the weather. Demo day would be a great way to choose. Worth traveling over the hill for.

I agree with the idea of going to a demo truck ride and ride all of them... multiple times if you can. But, be very careful about testing riding the Vision. If you do, you will find out exactly what I mean.

Not only are they fun to ride, the technology that has gone into all aspects of the bikes are way ahead of ANY of the competition. There are many good Victory videos on YouTube. I've watched all of them over a period of several months. Type in "Victory Motorcycles" and start enjoying.

Hello, I just purchased my Vic and I was also a former rocket guy too. Hope I can help with my story to it all. Had a 2008 Suzuki Gixxer 1000 for about six years. Loved the bike but like you I was looking for something more comfortable. You wont go wrong with Victory. I agree with the other guys here, find a demo truck and ride everything possible. Before the demo truck go look at some and sit on them, all that good stuff. And be careful with the Vision LOL its addictive. Sitting on one was all it took for me. They are super comfortable and stupid fast for a bike so big. Happy hunting and keep us informed please.

Since the Vision is actually the worlds largest sport bike it will be a good fit for you.

Like the others said save it for last. All the Vics aregreat though.
Do you have an idea of what type/style your looking for and what type of riding you think you will be doing on it?

Thanks for all the replya guys!!;
I do a little of everything. I would ride to and from work, day trips to pyramid lake, Tahoe etc. And occasional 2 up trips to the coast if able..
So a bagger at least. Which one is catching your eye?
When you go to a demo ride they will have coupons and different promos for you. Also if your police, fire, or military you get $1K off as a thanks from Victory. Just let the dealer know and they will take care of it.

Hey man. The bike I rode (and still do)before I bought my Vision is the Zook Bandit FA. Not a Superbike, but impressively nimble andincredibly fast. It's also a great all 'rounder. I can carve, commute and so some distance on it. But I needed a bike that would compliment that machine that had the extra capabilities of comfort, power, range and an enhanced feature set.
Iresearched this for almost a year because I wanted to make sure I made the right choice. Big bore adventure bikes, Sport Tourers... you get the idea. I rode a lot of stuff andit came down toa short list; KTM Adventure 1190, Yamaha FJR, Kawi Concours, Honda F6B. I looked at HD, but none of those did it for me. Then I looked at Victory.
I did exactly what the guys said... I rode everything Vic had that would fit my mission requirements. I rode the Cross Roads, the Cross Country, The Indian Chieftain and the Vic Vision. For me, the Vision was the choice. And I could NOT be happier. I never thought I would end up on a big V, but the Victory was just too good a mchine to resist. Give 'em a try - I'm pretty sure you will end up buying one! Best of luck in your search.

Id love 2 bikes.. like a gunner or judge and a bagger. Someone needs to release a bike that has a quick release fairing and bags to sport it up like a judge then if u want to cruise install and go... ive also been looking at the f6b, and the HD street glide.

If you want to do 100MPH on the Kingsbury Grade sweepers, it's the Vision you want. Ask me how I know . . .

Thats very possible. The only issue you need to think about is how long and far you can ride a bike like the gunner or judge in comfort. The bikes will certainly do it but can your pillion and arse? You get what you pay for and it is cheaper to do things right the first time. Trying to make a cruiser a touring bike can be costly and it will never be as good as the real thing. If you have any kind of distance riding in mind I would not look for anything less than a bagger.

Once you have nice side bags you will find how nice they are to have. They beat backpacks and straps for sure.

In my experience, there is no one bike that can do it all. However, the Boardwalk is a pretty versitile plarform. It's a really nice looker on it's own, but with lock 'n ride accessories you can add a touring windscreen and decent sized bags and now you can go touring! When you are done they easilly come off and now you are back to that nice looking Boardwalk. On the Victory site you can select the Boardwalk and then customize it accordingly so you can see what I mean. I don't know that it will work for you, but it's worth a look.

I agree a demo tour is a great experience to get a feel for what s out there. Though it's been longer than I care to admit I rode a sport bike also. A cruiser is a totally different ride. As has been said determine what it is you want to do with the bike first. I have loved my V92 DC for all around use those old bikes just did everything well. My Vegas was a ball to rideit felt light and agile not sport bike accelleration but damn quick just the same. Now the XCT wonderful bike very comfortable and does what it was intended to do extremely well. My point is all great bikes just each does somethings better than the other. If your going to travel its different than short hops. Can you ride a Judge or any of the steel frame bikes across the country aboslutely just not as comfortably as a touring bike.

PS try to take a ride on a used or dealer demo bike that has some mods. When your coming off a sport bike a cruiseror tour will feel lethargic. Get a cammed up opened up bike with 1/4 turnthrottle ring and you'll think wow for a big heavy bike this thing hauls ass
