As most of you know I have owned 4 Vegas's and currently own 3. This doesn't make me the leading expert on the bike but I do know something about the accessories. I hate to even think about how much I have spent on parts for these four bikes and I surely am not going to admit it online but lets just say it is somewhere around the price of a Vision.
Most of my parts are factory parts and I expect to pay a premium but I do expect quality products. In the past I can say the only part that did not meet my expectations was the Arlen Ness Swept Exhaust, other then that I have been very happy.
Well, the other day I purchased a passenger backrest from my dealer (who is reading this and squirming in his seat right now). I went and picked it up and we joked about it saying made in China and the size of the packing material. I finally got around to installing it this weekend...
First thing, Victory really need to invest in a new copier for their instructions. The pictures are horrible. But it is a backrest, not that hard to figure out.
Second, this should be called a butt rest. If your taller then 4' I cant see any part of your back hitting it.
Third, price! This thing is almost $200.00... It isa bent peice of metal with a maxi pad strapped to it.
Like I said, I expect to pay a premium but this thing did not even come close to meeting my expectations. I could have went to JP Cycles and picked up a nice back rest for under $50 and had the peice of metal done at a machine shop for another 50...
That's all, just venting.

That pad looks much better, but is the bracket already rusting in that picture?
Thats not rust, just the reflection from the redleaves on the tree.

From this picture it is a totally different mount. My mount doesnt come up near this high and the pad sits right on the seat.

Who you riden with that needs a sissy bar?

Is the back like these?

If so.....
I had the same problem and the wife said it was much too short.
I got a new bracket made 6mm thick (to stop it bending) and finished it off with some leather so that it would match the seat & pad.

It works a treat and the wife loves it.
