Did you miss this? NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- It's official: Federal workers won't be getting a pay increase for the next two years, despite the best efforts of the unions that represent them. First proposed by President Obama three weeks ago, the freeze required the approval of Congress. On Tuesday, both chambers passed a short-term budget fix that included the pay freeze. Obama Has 273,000 Fewer Federal Employees Than Reagan
The real truth is that the compensation for each pay grade is frozen, probably with cola included, but then they are all just moved up to the next pay grade. It's all a shell game more like a club that looks after itself.

That's good. A good thing the real estate market is getting sorted out. Hopefully it has seen bottom, and will slowly see prices rise - at a reasonable and justified rate. The builders and all the people associated with the housing/building/real estate business have really been in a pinch! No secret there.
Don't hold your breath on that. Housing prices are still dropping here in the Detroit area and the banks are still holding thousands of foreclosures that havn't even hit the market yet. There can't be any real recovery of the housing market until we get JOBS and I don't mean the $8 an hour kind.

The bottom line here is we need a business man that understands how business and world trade work and make it work to OUR ADVANTAGE meaning our country and the people that live in it. Romney is the only guy that qualifies in my book.

Many people are in for a huge surprise because the mortgage deduction is on it's way out. 90 Billion dollars each year lost off the Federal Revenue. Everyone wants the government to balance to budget but they also want the government to leave their benefits and deductions alone. Be careful what you wish for. :em0200:
If you think the Housing Market is in the toilet now, just wait until they take the mortgage interest deduction away! There will no longer be any benefit to owning your own home in many peoples eyes.

I have to ask, did you buy your home because of a mortgage deduction or because you wanted a place to call your own? For the average homeowner paying $8k in interest this rounds off to be a $400.00 windfall on your taxes. Not really enough to make me not want to buy a house.
My deduction savings is closer to $3,000, yes that's a big contributor to my decision to buy. Couple that with the fact that home prices are still depreciating and not appreciating and it's one more straw on the camels back.

When I heard the results of the Walker vote this morning it made my day! The people footing the bill for these extravagant public pay plans and pensions are speaking out loud and clear! We the people that can't collect our Social Security until we're nearly 70 years of age and fund our own 401k plans are thru being fleeced. It's simply unsustainable to let these Government workers retire at ridiculously young ages, collecting absurd amounts of money and collecting multiple pensions as well while us taxpayers are struggling to pay insane tax bills.

We've got a war shaping up with the government employee unions and those on the dole on one side vs the real taxpayers that are fed up on the other. Wisconsin proved that us sane taxpayers have a chance if we all show up to vote.

Part of the reason for the slow economic recovery is that Americans aren't spending like they were. Partially because of job and income losses and partially because people are trying to pay down their debt
http://economywatch.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/09/13185767-consumers-making-progress-paring-down-debt?lite
We have an unworkable tax system and an economic system that relies on consumerism, and endless spending and growth, and does not reward savings. This system is unsustainable, and both parties are simply trying to prop it up instead of fixing it. We are filling pothles instead of repaving the road. Blaming this party or that party is useless and offers no viable solutions. What I think we are experiencing now is the last dying gasp of this system. We need leadership that is neither Republican or Democrat and not beholden to special interests.
So the question remains, whom do we vote for? We have no viable third party, the 2 parties keep it that way.

Your preacher says he "believes Jesus is coming back." Preachers have been saying this the last 2000 years and no Jesus. Do you stop going to church?
Saying that he believed gov't could help was his feeling. I fail to see a promise here. He didn't say anything about his policies or make a guarantee of stimulus. He gave them a pep talk.
The plant was dead long before he got to office and even if the Japanese were in it making Isuzus it was beyond the point that he could help. Once the plant has been disbanded and the workers fired, there is no bringing it back. And even you admit the Japs were done by April. Do you think with the financial crisis that was gripping the nation that that one failed plant was his priority when he took the reins?
You people get more ridiculous by the day.
The japs weren't building anything there, they were GM trucks with Isuzu badges being slapped on them.

Bottom line! Do you want to (God forbid something happens to president Romney) wake up one morning to President Ryan? Anyone who critically watched that debate knows in their gut that this guy is a lightweight. Do you think this is a good time to hire two trainees? Weak on foreign policy, weak on economic policy, frankly just weak. It sounds a lot like it would be a Bush II administration clone without the seasoned cabinet members Bush had. It was clear from the debate that these guys have ideas and profess to have plans but somehow can't explain them to anyone. Maybe for the next debate Obama should call in sick and have Biden debate Romney instead. I would vote for a Palin/Bachman ticket before these two.
Wake up man, we've had a clueless trainee at the wheel for the last 4 years That's the Problem!!!

This is BenghaziGate folks, there's a Huge cover-up here. It gets uglier by the minute, calls for help ignored, F16's, spectre gunships, attack choppers at the ready but not sent, laser target designator being held on mortar shelling our buildings but no response or support, this went on for hours with orders coming from the top to stand down! Not to mention they watched most of this take place with 2 drones, knew it was a pre-planned coordinated attack all along while Obama Lied to all of us about this you tube video hogwash!!!

Everything you know for sure is that the powers in Benghazi told them to stand down. There is not one credible bit of information that anybody outside the CIA knew a thing about this as it unraveled. This also makes sense as the CIA made such horrible judgement calls that they fed bad information to the White House to cover their butts.

Isn't this convenient that this must be big news now 10 days before the election/ Read the Kristol bit. Would the Secretary of Defense say "NO". Who is his boss? Just tell me this. Who in the CIA in Libya told them to stand down? Just go that far with it and I will play along. Who was the highest ranking official in Benghazi telling them to stand down? How would that compromise national security. You know, not everybody in the CIA is a Democrat.

Why are we not burning down careers in Libya finding out who failed in that country for 4 hours to help us? This is partisan politics taking a horrible situation where Americans died and using it to get votes.
General Patraeus has already stated the order to stand down came from above the CIA directly from the Whitehouse! This went on for hours and most was being watched on real time video being broadcast from 2 of our drones. There was no delay of them knowing what happened, this is one Huge cover-up of incompetence. There is nothing "convenient" about loosing an Ambassador or 2 Navy Seals! Not only were they denied more security personnel before the incident but denied any type of back-up when they called 3 times as this went on for hours! The Navy Seals are trained to work with and designate targets for the spectre gunships they were trying to call in, this is Treasonous man! The F16's could have been there in minutes and at the very least straffed the street in front of the Embassy and more likely put a missile on the mortar site!! F16's coming in hot could of scared off a lot of Al Qaeda and bought a lot of time. This went on for over 4 hours, don't tell me nothing could be done and we have men that live for the chance to "get in harms way"!

1. I'm not going to waste time arguing with you because you are already convinced that Obama is evil, incompetent, and responsible for everything since the Teapot Dome scandal. It's a BS story that is being pushed for political reasons. How about you Romney cheerleaders trying focusing your anger on the cats that attacked our consulate and try for once supporting the country and its president (yeah I know you can's stand it but he is currently OUR President)for 5 minutes. This vitriolic rhetoric does nothing but tear away the last remaining shreds of fabric that hold our society and country together. Whoever is left standing and inhabits the White house is left to deal with an even more deeply divided country and bitter partisan rancor which results in nothing changing and nothing getting done. And then everyone stands around with their finger in their As$ bitching about how ineffective Washington is and whining about how we got into this mess.
2. I'm waiting for even one of you Romney guys to comment on Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama for president.
Who cares about Colin Powells endorsement, it's no surprise being that he endorsed Obama the first time around as well. We also have Colin Powell to thank for not finishing the job in Iraq during the Gulf War when we had half the world there with us! Donald Rumsfeld has endorsed Romney and called out the Obama administration on Benghazi, that says a lot more to me.

I don't have a cat. And no..your question isn't a stumper. Most of the so called information you and your fellow conspiracy theorists are posting is pure speculation which for several weeks and currently is being promoted and broadcasted 24 hours a day/seven days a week on Fox News. There is a big difference between fact and speculation. I just flipped the Fox channel on for "research" and lo and behold they are talking about this very subject. Wait.. I've gotta run..Greta just said that coming up is Rush limbaugh..I'm tingling all over!
Please explain to me the emails from the State Departmen on the day of the attack saying the militant Ansar al-Sharia had claimed responsibility...and the desire by some to focus strictly on the film as the cause. These emails have been released and published, I suppose Fox News fabricated these too is that what you propose?

Wait until the actual facts come out is what I'm saying. That's what news is supposed to be. It used to be called journalism. With actual journalism you gather facts then report. With Fox, they conclude first..surround their conclusions with hyperbolic speculation...then report. Then when the actual facts come out they spin like crazy or ignore it because they are on to the next conspiracy. It works well because people just want to have their biased beliefs confirmed.
I don't deny that Fox leans conservative, on the other hand though the mainstream media totally leans liberal and spins for the Democrats. You have to watch both to get some balance, without Fox we would be doomed to total liberal brainwash.

I'm going to jump into this thread with a question:

Will Hurricane Sandy have an effect on the elections?

The forecasters are saying that the storm's current track could distrupt power for quite some time. With the election only ten days away, what happens if there is a major power outage/storm damage on the East coast?

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Hopefully only Blue States loose power :)

Michael Goodwin, Democrat, New York Post political commentator, endorses Romney.

Why I'm voting for Romney

  • By MICHAEL GOODWIN
  • Last Updated: 3:45 AM, October 28, 2012
Where he totally fooled me was his claim to be a pragmatist, not an ideologue. He spoke of uniting the country and I believed he was capable and sincere. That he won 70 million votes and more than two-thirds of the Electoral College spoke to his appeal.
He failed as president because he is incompetent, dishonest and not interested in the actual work of governing. His statist policies helped consign millions of Americans to a lower standard of living and his odious class warfare further divided the nation. He had no intention of uniting the country - it was his Big Lie.
I don't hate him. But I sure as hell don't trust him.
