My local dealer, where I bought mine, has Victory, Indian, and Slingshot. When you walk in, Victory is on the left, Indian on the right, and Slingshot in the middle. Vic and Indian have equal floor space, although they do have more Indians right now. They have more Indian accessories/clothing, but they blamed Polaris on the lack of stuff. Victory is established, Indian (for Polaris) is new. Polaris is trying to get the name back out there and overcome previous quality issues the last time they were sold.

They have two used Indians and no used Vics. I am not worried about Victory. It is normal for a company to have a huge campaign whenever a new model/make is introduced. Besides, Indians are much more expensive than Vics!

Holy bald headed Jesus that MoFo is one big SOB of a dealer, that place is as big as our local hockey arena and curling rink combined!
You guys go ahead and argue over there are more of these than that or weather your pecked are longer ,I got ta tell ya that is one big shop! Did you also say the buggers treat yaa right as well?
I have never been treated as good at any dealership of any sort as well as these folks take care of you. Top tier place! I bought a used bike from them and was treated like a Red Carpet King!

I still agree with others that noted that they are playing to two different crowds for the most part. If I could afford a second bike I'd have a Chieftain for riding solo once in a while. For no other reason than it's a beautifully styled classic. Styling and fit are worlds apart. I'm only 5'8" and I think the Indian's are too cramped compared to the Vic's. I love that stretched out feel, very roomy. And I like the edgy appearance of the Cross Country. I'll buy another CCT when mine tires out.

I have my wife with me 60-70% of the time. We've sat two up on many a bike from my brother-in-law's Ultra Classic, Indian Roadmaster, Vision's and Wing's just for the sake of comparison before and after we made the purchase. My darling bride said there is "NOTHING" as comfortable as the CCT for her. The closest was the Vision but she said even though it has a nice wrap around effect it felt too stiff. So I have to keep that consideration front and center as well.

To each his own. If I win the Power Ball I'll have to build a separate garage just for the Vic/Indian collection I'd have but I can't worry about that as I haven't purchased a ticket in years. But they are truly the only two brands that appeal to me at all.

I am 6'2" and sat on an Indian Chief Vintage first and it was too cramped for my legs. Got on the CCT and it was nice. My wife also says the CCT is the most comfortable. We didn't ride a Roadmaster because it was too expensive. Test rode a used BMW, coming from a 1200 Gold Wing, and my wife loves the CCT the mostest.

I am also 5 -8, or on a tall day, 5 -9 and I absolutely love the room on the CCT. I can only imagine the big guys really enjoy the extra room.
Believe me, brother, we do. We do indeed. To this day I have no idea what the guys at Indian were thinkin. Every bike in the line is cramped. If it were me I would have come with 2 frames that had some degree of adjustability at the controls. The Scout doesn't count in this, as it came later and it's a small bike anyway.

Muzza I gotta love ya brother. One year on Victorys bar bike and you're an expert on all things Victory. Gotta admire your enthusiasm though. Hopefully it catches on!

I also figured that Victory was no longer that important to Polaris when they took the Victory entry level bike and made it into the Scout. It even looks like a Victory. Now that is cannibilzation at its worst.
I've seen a lot of people say this for a good while now. Has anyone actually substantiated this claim? Not saying you're wrong, but I'd like to read from Polaris that this is indeed what happened.

I think it's all rubbish. They're investing to much into outside ventures for a company that's about to throw in the towel. Acquiring Brammo, racing sponsorship and so on. Not what a dying brand usually does.

I believe that is true to make a push for Indian, but victory is not out they should be going to a hard focus with victory for 2017. Victory could use a starter bike and some electronic upgrades for the tourers but other than that they are already great bikes in my opinion.

Ok, I cannot reveal my source, but Victory plans to offer a new, smaller displacement High Ball in early '17 targeting the entry-level rider and this is a pic of the concept bike:

I, for one, am already saving my money to get one as a back-up for my current '15 HB.

Awesome, man. Can you get cams for it?!?

As for the whole Indian stealing the Vic concept, I think that bike was always going to be the Scout. The 2 companies have their own plans and development trajectories so I don't think things like this are necessary. I'm no expert, but I am pretty sure that the Scout was a legendary bike back in the day and it was a good move to bring it back. It was a logical follow-up and a pretty nice effort, too.

Can't say there wasn't some affect to Vic from sharing the same assembly facility. I feel they can handle both and so adaptable, once a new model can get its part built, well:

Agree with you here, Flyboy. I'd like to think that it would also have a positive impact in the form of improved build techniques and processes across both brands. For me, some of the big improvements I want to see from Victory are better materials. This is something that doesn't get talked about much.

Take for instance the actual plastics on the Vision. The next version of the Viz should have a higher quality, thicker set of bodywork. I want to see access panels that hold their shape, not be so thin that they don't. I want to see better quality paint and a better-sorted wiring harness. I want to see a re-designed side stand that will not bend. A lot of little details that don't seem like much but add up collectively.

Revolutionary is great; evolutionary is just as critical. I hope that this consideration is also a part of the future of Victory.

Looks like form does follows function there. That have the function down, I agree to the bling her up...

I'm sure theyd have the ability to change a victory to an Indian scout as the rumor suggests. I've just never seen any concrete evidence that that's what happened. In my opinion the scout looks like an Indian, not a rebadged vic.

I just wouldn't mind getting to the bottom of that rumor, or if there was any sort of official verification that I missed that the scout was indeed meant to be a vic.

Not that it makes the slightest difference to me. Just wondering.

Pretty sure under the skin, there will be a lot of similar components, just smart business sense...

Oh for sure. It's just that I've read all over the place that scout was intended to be a Vic model first and Indian got the rights to it in the end because of the Indian name I guess? I think that's how it goes. I just wonder the validity of such claims and how that rumor even got started. Also, in addition, it looks like they took their time with the styling, making it look like an Indian with the fenders and head design and whathaveyou. To say it was supposed to be a Vic all along, they sure got the styling switched in a hurry.

I am one that too heard it and it was based on a media thing that Victory was to develop a new engine with Harley's released water-cools. Then Crickets.

After the release of the original Indian series, still no hint of Scout. The reason I was paying attention I was about acquire my Vic and was trying to learn more with Indian, a possibility. I just knew I didn't want a Harley and was checking out what was available.

So there may be truth in regards to the engine being patent applied under the name of Polaris and thus assumed it was for a Victory...
