I thought this could a different twist. We all like to talk about how many miles we put on our bikes during the season as an earned badge. I always find it kind of funny how we're eager to put miles on the bike yet, yet try and keep the miles off our cars.
So I know every riding season my car gets neglected and left to sit and rot in the garage.
All of last year which was really dry and warm I only put gas in the car 3 times between March and November.
This year has been cooler and wetter but I still last filled it up in the middle of June when I had to bring my boy home from his scout camp.
So for fun, list your newest car only(assuming many of us have several cars) as a comparison.
Bike is a 2012, brought home new in March '12, has 23,500 miles.
Newest car is a 2008, brought home April of 08, has 42,700 miles.
Pretty easy to tell in my world what's my preferred mode of transportation.

Bike is a 2009 Hammer brought home "new" (les than 10 miles on it) in July of 2010 has 24,500 miles on it.

Car is a 2013 Ford Escape brought it home in February of 2013 has 11,000 miles on it.

But I'll admit I'm a fair weather rider. That's part of the reason I bought a Hammer, I wasn't looking for weather protection. That's what I'll be looking for in my next bike. It will be a stablemate to my Hammer not a replacement.

I've thought about this before and wondered why on my car I try to keep the miles low and on my bike the higher they are the more proud of it I am. I finally realized that I plan on keeping the Hammer forever and I'm not worried about what the value of it might be down the line. As for my Escape, it's a great vehicle and I have no complaints with it but I know some day I'll be looking to trade it in so keeping the miles low helps me out in the long run.

Current bike is my 2011 Vision that had 3250 miles on it when I left the dealership two weeks ago to ride it home. As of yesterday it had 4150 miles. Not sure I can keep up a 450 mile per week pace but will certainly try.

Current vehicle (truck) is a 2008 Ford F150. I t had 7500 miles on it when I purchased 2/09, and as of today it has 165100. Unfortunaley I will continue to average 36000 per year as long as I keep my current job. Used to average 40K or more until my sales territory shifted a little closer to home.

Bought my '12 Vision on 28 Sept last year with 1 mile on the odometer. Currently, she has just under 7500 miles and I expect I'll turn over 10k by the time the snow flies (and she hibernates for the winter). I bought my '04 Chevy Blazer (used) in '08 with 67k on the clock. It currently has 89k. Math says (let's see....carry the 1, divide by pi, sine over cosine) an average of 4400 miles/year. Just over 1/3 what I'm putting on the bike. I paid 1/2 the price for the Blazer as I did for the bike so the math works out on that, too. Also, the bike gets better than twice the gas mileage as the truck. (39 v 17)

Newest bike is a '13 XCT, took delivery in Jan. '13, 17,200 miles on it. Mommio's car is an '04 Mini Cooper S, bought new Dec. '03, 80,000-ish miles. I'll let someone else to do the math...
Previous job had me in Crown Vics, never counted the miles/year on put on them.

Bike is a '13 XC that I bought new July 29, now has 3600 miles and change. Newest car is an '03 Impala that I bought in late January of '12 with 59k now has 73k. My VTX, which I traded on the XC, I bought in March of '07 with 12k and traded it with 68k. My '99 GMC Sierra was bought within 2 weeks of the VTX with 101k it now has 163k and was my only cage until I bought the Impala. If I could figure out how to take the bike hunting and ride through snowdrifts it would have more miles

Well, okay.

2011 International Prostar Eagle, picked it up on July 6, 2010 with 59K miles on it. Today, it has 483,401 miles.

Just got the 2013 Vegas 8 Ball last Friday. It had 5 miles on it. today, it has 108. I only got to ride it for half of Friday and then I had to get back to work. In the International.

same feeling here. You'd think a bike built by a snowmobile company would handle a few inches of snow here and there better than it does.

2012 XCT brought home 3/8/2013 with 1 mile now has 13,500k miles on it and I'm 1/3 of the way into my second set of tires. I am adding at an avg of 1k a week during this the best part of the riding season.

My next vehicle is my 2009 Ford Taurus which I brought home 2/2012 w/ 60k and it just turned 100k.

We are a 2 driver, 3 vehicle family: the XCT, Taurus and F150 SuperCrew (170k) - and we rotates through the year.

Winter below 40 degrees, I drive the Taurus and the missus drives the SuperCrew.

Spring/Fall (dry above 40) and summer (if I can get there dry I'll ride home wet) I ride the (now) XCT while the missus drives the Taurus. And, then I drive the SuperCrew a couple times a month to the lumber yard or some such.

My previous '01 Taurus was traded in with 267,199 miles on it and still went down the road quite ably other than the shot front end eating a pair of tires ever 10k....

57,000+ on my 2011 Vision and I've had to jump start both of my cages this year due to lack of use.
Since I retired in 2007, I've put 95,000 miles on my motorcycles and less than 20,000 total on my cages.

2012 Vision Tour I bought newlast July. It now has 13k on it. I haven't been able to ride as much this year. 2013 Vegas 8 Ball purchased newat the end of June this year and it has 1,300 miles on it. My personal cagevehicle is a 2000 Ford Ranger with 153,000 miles. My wife has a 2010 Sport Trac Adrenalin with 55k on it.
