Hey all...just a quick question on the Hammer passenger seat cowl. My '12 model isn't coming with one (I'm guessing it was stolen or lost by the previous owner) and short of stopping at my local Victory dealership, I can't seem to find a replacement. Question is...should I even bother? I have to guess the reason they're not readily available online is they might be more of a PIA than they're worth. They don't lock as far as I know so even if I do get a new one, how long am I going to have it. Should I just invest in a new seat with a proper passenger pillion instead?

I see them on eBay all the time......

Whether you should even bother is entirely up to you.
For me .... the look of the bike is with the seat cowl .... YMMV .

Before buying a replacement cowl, if it was me, I would ride in the stock seat for a few hours and decide if it's comfortable enough. Mine has the Victory Bandit seat on it and I love it. There are lots of other comfortable aftermarket seats out there too.

Only way I would sport my hammer is with the cowl if I'm going to keep the stock seat! Just my opinion. As far as it staying on the bike I never had an issue. Make sure the tabs are connected to the rubber groments and it stays put.

Eeeesh...took my first ride on this sucker...got lost as went way farther than I had intended. And I have to say the stock seat isn't right for me. Feels like it's putting too much pressure on my upper butt...like it's not big enough and I'm pressing to hard against the rear of the seat (yeah...the SEAT isn't big enough...LOL). So...new seat is in order and no need for the cowl. Thanks though guys.

What manufacturer seat/type did you order?

This isn't a recommendation for a seat but one you might shy away from...I mentioned I love my Victory Bandit seat, I find it very comfortable, but it moves you a little forward and has a pretty steep step behind the driver. I don't have firsthand experience with any other seats though, good luck and congrats on the new bike.

I too purchased a Bandit seat with my motorcycle purchase however my first ride is still about 4 weeks away as spring isn't here yet. My bike still has the factory seat on and I'll try that first to see if I'm comfortable with it. Two things to realize about the Bandit seat, the first being the passenger cowl will not fit as this seat has greater depth of padding and secondly, evidently you have to drill two holes in the rear fender to secure the seat to the bike during installation.

Would anybody happen to know the compatibility between seat cowls? Will an 09 cowl fit a 2006?
I don't know why there are two options for that cowl on each model year but the two part numbers are identical for both 2006 and 2009. You can see a parts list on the factory website as well!
