So has this happened to anyone else?
i swapped out my exhaust for a set of Mutazu exhausts - localish guy had a set he didn't like because they weren't loud enough....
i still want to get CrossCountryLA rework the stockers but couldn't resist a decent deal on these. Anyways, i got the mufflers installed but now for some reason my saddlebags are so out of alignment that the lids are an absolute pain in the @ss to close and lock. I have to finagle them to close.
I have taken them on and off several times and reattached them. Now i do have the saddlebag bolts that aren't the quarter-turn quick release but that shouldn't matter.
its almost like for some reason the lids are twisted or something. I have tried adjusting the latches with no success.

The only thing that has been changed is the mufflers. the Mutazu mufflers are identical so there is no left or right side. i swapped them this afternoon and still have the same issue.
hopefully someone can help because i kind of dig the sound but i'm kinda baffled about the lids not closing as god had intended.

This is what I did. My phone has a command word that takes a picture. I put my phone in my bag and set the flash on, said command Word and took a picture, then adjust latch from there. You may need to go left, right, in or out to get right. Might have to add washers between latch too depending on where it sits. Ussuming that something like the bag did not drastically move.

Can't remember if the latch gets adjusted in one way by bending slightly or not though. I think Witchdoctors has a video. This was some years ago but haven't adjusted since so it worked great. Could be you have excessive latch wear also. Victory had a recall on this back in the day.

Weee they working fine with the original mufflers? I believe with the cross bikes, the pads for the saddlebags rest on the mufflers, right? Maybe those Chinese knockoffs are causing the saddlebag not to fit right. You could try to put an OEM muffler back on one side and see if that solves it. If so, then at least you know where the problem lies.

That guy must be deaf, I wish mine ( came on bike ) were just a hair quieter but I do like the sound enough to leave it alone & my bags close as should

Man if I had a dollar for every time thats been my troubles
For the OP, close the bags so they align correctly before the final tightening of the saddlebag security knobs & check the rubbers are in the correct spots

@MonsterMash, @Bikesofbrads ...On my 2014 CC 8-BALL I had same problem. When I had oil changed while at Daytona Bike week, at a dealer in Volusia, they changed both latches, told me when I was paying bill. Said NO CHARGE, Polaras$ had a recall and they had one set in stock...closed faster then wife's legs after that :angel2: (VICTORY OIL, before anyone asks(y))
TIP: PM Ragin Cajun...as stated MANY times on here by myself and others, he'll make sound/loudness AND performance you want, GUARANTEED

The latches themselves are fine - no excessive wear. The one side had the start of the groove getting worn in it but the previous owner had installed the kit from victory to fix it. my old cross roads neve got that fix but I remember someone saying to switch the direction of the bar that the saddlebags grab onto and it would help stop the wear. That is not the case here.

i have taken the bags on and off prolly a half dozen times to try and see where there is a problem. I mean you can only do so much with the lids closed. And with them open, the saddlebag bolts still align with the mounting holes in the fender support.

I’m not crazy right? Aside from the mounting of the exhaust tips, there is no difference between the left and right mufflers, correct? I haven’t taken a set of calipers or anything to the originals, but just eyeballed them and I don’t see a difference.
I’ll prolly screw around with them again this weekend to see if I can fix this but I was hoping someone else with these mufflers would be able to tell me if they had a similar issue. I like the way they look and they aren’t obnoxiously loud - nice bass rumble. But if they are going to cause the saddlebags to break because they are stressed too much being mounted funny, then I’ll have to pass them on to someone else…

Sounds like you need to compare them to the mufflers you took off.

I can see the saddlebags being warped out of shape if the mount points are off. Bottom of bag needs to fit just right on the rubber pads. Then you attach it to the bike on the back of bags. So if bottom is not where it needs to be then the bag could be slightly out of shape. Do the lids open and close okay just sitting loose on the mufflers without being attached to the bike?
