Is there any why someone could post a picture of a 240 on a hammer from the back. I would like to get a 240 for the bike to handle better but love the look of the back of the bike and do not want to change that look. If a 240 looks good I am going to get that otherwise I will get a 260 metz or 250 avon. Thanks very much in advance. Any rear shot would help.

I'll share that sentiment. I bought an 07 Hammer new off the floor last year (seriously, it had 7 miles on the odo!), but even in a climate controlled showroom all that time (so the dealer claimed), those 6 year-old tires just worry me. I have read many of the Avon/Metz/Dunlop/Michelin threads with great interest, and the consensus seems to be thatgoing with a 240will probablyprovide better handling thana 260, even though the Metz 260 is rounder so it actually looks narrower than the Dunny stock 250s. But I haven't seen a photo of the 240 either so I'd love it if someone could share...

Thanks for bringing this topic up!

From a non Hammer perspective. I had a Boulevard M109R that I tried about every rear tire I could on the standard rim. Wiithout question the best handling big rubber was the Metz 260 ( I ran a 160 Metz rear up front in reverse rotation). The round profile made the bike handle like never before. thebike fell into the turnsbeautifullyand although a little narrower than the Dunny the traction was far better. JMHO.
I looked at the hammer back then, great looking bike but the M109R was a better fit onmy pocketbook at the time.

FYI, found this while tooling around a few other sites during lunch--poster claims it's a Metz 240...

If you hit up Flatsboy over on the TCVR.us he might be able to help you. He put one on his Hammer last year. I'm not sure if he still has it on or not but if he does I'm sure you could meet up to take a look at it. I think he was saying he didn't see any difference visually or nothing significant but he did say since it had a slightly lower profile that he started scraping sooner and easier then he was with the 250 or 260.

I will say this, I have a jackpot with a 10-1/2 wheel and a 280 Metz. With this set upI turn better than I did with the stock rim and 250 dunlop. I bet if you just put the Metz 260 on you would be more than happy with how much better it turns.

Interesting...this is the FIRST I've read anywhere about scraping sooner on the 240. I'm not an overly aggressive rider, but if theMetz 260 provides similar gains in control without the danger of taking any chrome or paint off...hmmm...that might just be the way to go. Thanks!

For anyone that was following this issue (I for one was still weighing my options), Iread anotherreport from a Metz 240 user that the ground clearance is lower on the 240 than the stock 250, enough so that the owner's exhaust was making pavement contact more often. In his words, "The cornering is dramatically improved. The Bassani pipe gets his belly rubbed even more often now, but overall this has been a good move."
