I've been pondering this for some time and keep coming back to this thread, but have yet to reply. Well it finally dawned on me, like others stated in their own way, I have no plan. It's like when someone asks, hey man where are you riding this weekend? My response, no plan is the best plan.

With that said I do have a direction in mind. In this instance the direction is address issues as they come up, visit The Vic Shop at least once per season for service I am unwilling to attempt, keep up on my preventive maintenance, replace tires and oil. In other words, no change in direction when it comes to the best toy I've ever owned.

Vigilant maintenance is the key.
Yup, I recently had my annual maintenance at TVS. It's a 250 mile ride one way, but more than worth it in my mind. I flipped 61k on the way down and had the following done:
- Steering head baring inspection and fresh grease
- Fresh oil for the forks
- Fuel filter replaced - after 40k it was a good purchase
- Finally replaced the front pads - went OEM and hoping for another 60k on those
- Brake fluid flush for front and rear
- Greased the rear shock bushings
- Clutch cable inspection and re-grease of cable ends
- Resolved issue with right passenger floor board
- Original belt inspected and additional general once over

I had already replaced my plugs and wires earlier in the season. Now back to the usual tires, oil, oil, oil, tires, oil, oil, oil, tires...
Show your Victory a bit of love and it goes a long way!

Great move and you got to make a great ride to a great place. Did you notice differences on the ride home ?
Yeah, you always bump into some good folks when visiting TVS. It's likely in my head, but the bike seems to handle better at slower speeds than it did before and WOW my brakes are stronger than I can ever recall. Money and time well spent to say the least.

You mean I can not by Victory oil anymore, any suggestions?
Sure you can, I just bought 4 kits off of Amazon. I got two of the kits for $56 because the boxes had some damage and were repaired with packing tape. I wish I had bought 20 kits back when they were blowing them out instead of just 8.

I thought about doing just that, but then I thought, "screw that company, they can lick my balls". So I spent the money on a K&P reusable filter instead (and it's really cool too) and now I just buy Spector or amsoil or lots of other choices.

Oil thread ACTIVATE! Lol.
I own a K&P filter as well. Once I can no longer find the kits I'll switch over to using it again. I haven't used my K&P since they stopped offering Victory oil by the large 5 or 6 quart jugs. Right now I find it more economical to buy the kits than it is to buy Spectro and use my K&P. Personally I do not believe you save much with the K&P filter these days anyway. I was using about 1/3 - 1/2 can of brake cleaner at every oil change to clean the filter out. I was saving a bunch when I could buy the huge jugs of Victory oil and use the K&P, but that's no longer an option.

The Victory kits that I'm buying are not coming directly from Polaris, which makes me feel a bit better about buying them. I hear ya though, Polaris is the original source. I did email Lube Tech last year and asked if I could buy the kits directly from them and pick them up at their facility via will call. (Since they are here in MN). They told me no, I need to order the oil through a dealer.

With any notice of intent to shake up the company the price of shares would have gone down. They do that so they don't drag out any negative impacts on the share values of the executive. In this case the quick cut and replacement with a more recognizable named product, Indian, they reduced their exposure to losses in their own portfolios. And we're not sure how long Indian is going to be around either do we.
Fair points. How much was GM stock impacted when they announced well in advance that Pontiac was going away? How much was GM stock impacted when they announced well in advance that Saturn would be no more? How much was GM stock impacted when they announced that Geo would be no more? Those are honest questions and not loaded. Meaning I do not know the answers, but know that announcements went out well before those brands closed their doors. GM is still around and from what I know they are doing just fine. Maybe not the best comparisons, as the motorcycle industry is not exactly the same as the automobile industry, but they still seem valid.
