I bought the 2017 Octane and I love it! However, without any actual storage, I am looking to add some saddlebags. The question is, what bags will actually fit the Octane? I don't care for the soft bags offered by Victory (or the price). Can anyone make a recommendation on bags that fit, and look good? Either soft or hard are acceptable. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip!

Viking has a great selection, great prices, and full installation instructions on their site. They ship a boatload of hardware with the bags so be prepared for that shock if you go through them. I've had these bags for a couple months and just concerted from throw over to hard mount, definitely a great addition to the octane due to the absolute 0 storage capacity and bags do not soften the otherwise aggressive look. Hope this helps, best of luck.

How was the install? I've watched video , looks simple enough

Throw over is a cinch, and since I have the rear passenger seat it really kept the massive velcro straps in place under the seat once it's bolted down. The hard mount gave me a bit more trouble only because the original holes I drilled pushed the bags too far forward and on top of my piggyback shocks. It was definitely a learning experience and the video does make it seem a good deal easier than what it would be for the average Joe and no professional workshop, but I'd say this project is between a 2 and 4 on a difficulty scale to 10.

I was wondering if you would post close up picture of hardware and how you mounted ? ive got mine installed but not to sure if Viking sent right brackets. Sure not the ones on install video . no instructions came with either . I like the bags but hardware sure needs improvement . Not so sure bags are bike specific ,more universal seems .

How are your shocks mounted? My dealer installed them upside down. When I asked them about it, they said the installation instructions actually have it that way so bags will fit with them. Are yours reservoir down or up?

The installation instructions are in a PDF download on the web page of the specific viking saddlebag you ordered.

Yeah I just got my Viking Bags yesterday and the hardware was totally different than expected from all the online videos. Then on top of that they included 2 bags of bolts that are all about 4-5 inches long when all I really need are 8 bolts about 1/2 inch long. WTF VikingBags???

I've now acquired the hardware and will be making an install video for them. I also have the piggy back shocks but the reservoir is facing the rear, but the bags fit fine.

What I find odd is these new brackets they sent (they told me where the new and improved ones), do not seem to work with the over fender install.
