It's interesting how things evolve and age when you ride every day. Overall I would say that my gear has performed well over the years and I have learned a lot about what works, what doesn't and so on. Basically, when ya have the right sh!t on, it's not so bad to wear! But you do go through things. I blew the right shoulder strap out of my trusty backpack the other night. Thank God it waited until I got home and was taking it off. It was a good pack, but not great. An Amazon special. Lasted a little over a year. I figured I need to do a lot better this time. I like to keep the load on my back at about 20-22 liters. I was kinda stuck between 20 and 25 but I stuck to my guns and got a Kriega R20
This thing is pretty bad@ss. The quad Lock system on the R25 was too technical and bulky for my taste. I think if I were doing more hardcore touring I would pick the R25. But for every day with some touring I think this is just right. Once you get it dialed into your body you don't even feel it on. I also got the little Kube that attaches to the left shoulder strap. Very cool quick access pouch. And you can strap the pack to the back seat if you want. It's a real versatile system. I'm very pleased with it.
