This is very good debate with four very intelligent speakers , and each one with different opinions. This video gives you lots of things to consider.

I don't understand repeatedly quoting book, chapter and verse to people in this type of setting who say they've already looked at it and have rejected it. But I see well meaning christians doing it quite often. I respect the non believers views more than to try and argue, beg or plead them to repentance.

My 'job' as a christian is not to ensure you get saved. It's the Holy Spirit's job to soften and prepare the heart of the non believer. My 'job' as a christian is to present the Law and follow His example. Every true believer is compelled to do that. But not to chase and plead with people when they're clearly not open or ready, (Luke 16:31). You'll do a lot more watering and nurturing than harvesting in this world.

Remember there are four types of people (soil). But only one of those types ultimately makes it. If that realization doesn't break your heart, you're already dead.

Was that a "book quote" you just snuck in there? ;) haha We are supposed to spread the good news...right? The ancient Greek word for gospel was euangelion, which meant, literally, "good news." I would think one is remaining in the conversation because of curiosity. Anyone may choose to ignore or leave the conversation at any time. I'm sure there are folk monitoring this thread without participating...just curious? Good! :)

The books in the bible...
This collection of books was never written to be included in a 'bible'. Books from many authors in many places written over long periods of time that were assembled into one book by committee.

Historical and archeological evidence does not support the old testament. The stories in the old testament don't stand up to scrutiny.

The new testament was written by anonymous authors. The disciples of Jesus would have been long dead by the time these were written. The authors never met Jesus. Paul writes that he saw Jesus... once... in a vision... after he had nothing to eat or drink in quite a while. It's all hearsay, not eyewitness testimony.

If you know the actual history of the book itself... what was included in and excluded from the book... It is at least suspect.

Few people who hold tight to the Christian faith have ever looked into any of that. People who use faith, which is believing first and then finding things later that you can put into service in support of it, don't usually spend a lot of time on honest inquiry.

Religion divides us. It creates we vs they. Notice that organizations with "Liberty" or "Family" in the title are more about hate than anything else and are against education. If the human race is ever going to succeed moving forward we need to unite in creating a bright future, and stop looking forward gleefully to Armageddon.

Imagine if the entire planet put our money into research and education instead of weapons and warfare. As long as there is religion, that will never happen.

C'mon, man, who in the fuk is offended by a nativity scene? Who said the other half of that was NOT offensive?

Religious symbols on taxpayer property...
The problem is if you allow ONE religion you must allow them ALL. This becomes a huge cluster fuk on the courthouse lawn... so... what ends up happening is they allow NONE. In reality, this is the way it should be with our separation of church and state anyway.

Put the nativity scene on the CHURCH lawn or on your HOME lawn and no one will ever complain again. This is what I meant earlier. Christians are all for freedom of religion... as long as it's THEIR religion enjoying the freedom (notice the "freedomdaily.com" on the picture). Not really about freedom, is it?

I maintain through observation that Islam is NOT a religion but rather an ideology more like Communism or Socialism and as such should NOT be given so much leeway in US laws.
