I just purchased a new fuel controller from Lloydz (hoping to control the backfiring and popping). I will be installing it in about a week when I get home from work. I would love to see some tips from others that have already done the install. I remember reading in the past about a risk of breaking something under the fuel tank when removing it if you aren't careful, this is the sort of tip I'm looking for. Also...how about the tuning? Should I install it and go for a ride first thing to see how she runs, or is some setup required before the first ride?

Just want to add here, I watched several of the Witchdoctor vids, great info, excellent, and now I have more of a list of parts to buy! haha

Its a good controller but wont get rid of all the popping may also have to use the IAV also. go to his site he has some pretty good info to help understand the issues.
+1 on the Lloyds adjustable IAV to help with the decel/shift popping

Yesterday I installed the VFC-III and the IAV, plus I also put on the new Hi-flow air filter that Lloyds is selling for the XC. I already had the stage 1 exhaust and mapping. As a starting point I installed thje VFC without making any adjustments and I put on the IAV set at 4 turns out as the instructions recommended. I then went for a test ride and I just cannot tell you how happy I was with the results!
Almost allof the popping and backfiring is gone, but on top of that I can tellyouthe throttle response isway better. I now have to be carefulnot to over rev it becausethe revs increase so quickly.I still have a few popsor small backfires from time to time, but it is soooo much better then before, I just love it. Mostof the popping now seems to be when I am doing weird things with the throttle, like chopping it quickly, etc.
One thing I did notice this morning is that the cold starting was a lot harder, but I was ableto adjust the IAV and that seems to have helped. I won't know for sure until a coupleof more early morning cold starts.
The main thing fornow that has impressed me is that I installed the VFC-III with the stock setting and haven't made any adjustments and so far I am very happy!

You are correct, the 1/8 throttle does fire it right up, it's just that I noticed that it runs a bit rougher for the first couple of minutes when it is cold then it did before. This is not at all a problem as it goes away quickly as she warms up, but it is just an observation of something that is different than before. I wouldn't trade back to get betterthe cold starting at the cost of the improvedhot performance...no way.

I'm not on a Vic (Yet), but previous experience says, get all of the performance related mods that you want and then have it MAPed on a Dyno . You will be more than satisfied with the result. Standard programming gets things close... MAPing gets it tuned in for your (slightly different from anyone else's) motorcycle.

anyone annoyed with the pathetic stock muffler that accompanies the XC. I installed a set of RPW pipesthis pastspring and ran them in conjunction withthe Lloydz Fuel Gen III. Freaking amazing. Low, deep rumble that roars when you crack the throttle but is quiet enough to enjoy your tunes while cruising down the highway. There were no adjustments required when the boys at the dealership hooked up the fuel generator and there is verylittle backfire. The fuel generator is self adjusting, apparently. I've been told by several mechanics that completely eliminating backfiring is almost impossible. I'm not mechanically inclined, so I can't say whether or not that is BS. The RPW pipes go right underyour heat shieldsand are easily installed. They are about half the cost of installing the Stage 1's that Victory sells(here in Canada)and sound twice as good. I bought the pipes and fuel generator for $760 from Lloydz.

$760

Our baffle mufflers that are almost the same as RPW and with the fuel tuner your cost would have been $574.98. Subtract the VOG discount and your price would have been $517.48
