It looks like the ballast in my HID kit failed. I've had a few regular bulbs go out prematurely but was hoping that the relay with the HID kit would alleviate these problems. When I go in for my 2500 mile service sometime in the next week or two I'll have them look at it (obviously without the HID kit or any aftermarket stuff around), and I'll see if I can't get a replacement ballast.

It's a DDMTuning kit but i think the problem is related to the other headlight bulbs all burning out so quickly. Stock headlight went out at 1500 miles and a replacement went out within a week. I put an LED one in, then the HID before it went out. Now it's got an $8 bulb from Walmart and I've got to call the dealer to set up an appointment to see why bulbs are going out left and right.

Installed this plug and play headlight bulb from Amazon (Amazon.com: 1pcs H4 Super Bright 6000k 3000lm 32w Dc12v Led Lamp DRL Fog Light LED Motorcycle Headlight Bulb for KTM Honda: Automotive). It was less than $20 so I had to try it. It runs off of a little "driver" (PC) and it has to be kept cool. There is a fan on board the driver that is audible when the bike isn't running. There are made in the USA LEDs available, which I may switch to a fan-less version, but I wanted to try the concept first. Here is a pic. If you do end up getting one, be sure to point the two low beam LEDs toward the sky.
Bought my LED headlamp day maker from vickbaggers.com. paid 120.00. Works great!

Put Clearwater Darla's on my Cross Country 8 Ball, was amazed, rated at 3000 lumens each. Mounted at the calipers so they are low, also have a dimmer switch in them ( part of package). Wrote about them in detail elsewhere on this site. Wife got a Triumph America LT, no kits available for her bike from anyone I researched. So I thought I would try a headlamp "bulb" conversion, did not change the lamp itself. Bike came with a H4 style, it's a seven inch headlamp so plenty of room, fan part of conversion. We up graded to a 7,000 lumen bulb, also truly amazed at the difference. Both bike poor stock lighting solved, now you can not " out run" either set of lights. Got the conversion from a place called " Cyclops Adventure Sports" . Both company's were great to deal with. Jerry
