I’m a new rider. ‘08 kingpin is my first bike. I’m unable to get 6th gear. Is there a trick or is there something I don’t know? Thanks.

...nope... no tricks : if the trans will only go into first thru fifth there is an issue of some kind.

Is there a big 6 on the side of the lower right side case by your foot - or is there an aftermarket “dress up cover”?

I could be mistaken but I think the '08 is a 100 c.i. with 5 speed tranny on the 8-ball and a 6-speed on the standard model. Depending on which you have, you may not have a 6th gear. But to answer your question, it's 1-up, 5-down, no trick. Suppose it could be that 6th is there but it's shot.

I was wondering the same thing, 100 ci 5 spd, but if this is a all of a sudden thing, had 6th, now don't, I can't imagine it being a simple problem. Maybe something in the shifter.

I have an '04 Kingpin. I was told I only have 5 gears. The manual says I only have 5 gears. But I'll be G@d damned if I don't try to still find 6th every time I go ride!

As a last chance try you may want to check the shifter ratchet inside the primary, if that's not it then I'm afraid your problem is internal.
Preach and PDXL are right, if it's an 8 Ball you only have a 5 speed.
