I haven't been able to find much on the history of the CCT changes over the model years - could use some help understanding the changes between years. That should help me firm up which years to look at used when I'm done saving up :)

2010
- introduction of Cross Roads and Cross Country with 106 engine
- trunk optional, pricey from the sounds of it

2012
- cross country tour introduction:
- taller windshield
- HID low-beam for the headligh
- tubular front crash bars
- storage-pod lowers
- air-management system - adjustable fairing-mounted winglets and adjustable openings in the lowers.
-- standard:
---trunk
---heated seats and grips (is this standard?)
---adjustable passenger mini-floorboards

2013
- HID removed and replaced with halogen
- intermittent reports of better speakers - not sure

2014
- added sound dampening material in lower compartment doors ???
- two tone paint schemes

2015
- magnum edition (not touring edition) 21" front wheel, lowered rear, modified rear suspension, lower seat, upgraded stereo

2016
- didn't find any changes

You pretty much have it, there. The heated seat and grips are standard as well as ABS. Factory speaker upgrade is use of Kicker speakers and is an option. Since the 2012 there are not many changes. And the Magnum is a cross country but not a tour. It's the lowers and trunk std. items that make it a tour. Along with heat, abs, et.al.

What rumor? That sounds like a rumor to me. No one will know anything about anything until the models are released during Sturgis 2016.

Changes may be 6 months away, or they may not ever come. Do you really want to wait, or have something now. You can always upgrade later IF it happens.
If you judge Victory on it's past then the cool stuff gets dropped as time goes on. My 2012 XR has ABS while the 2013 did not. I believe the same thing happened later to the regular XC's.

As has been posted, the only difference between the 2012 through the 2016 CCT is:
2012 had the factory HID headlight
some colors are year specific (pearl white in 2012, bronze mist in 2013 etc.

We won't have verification on the changes for the 2017 CCT for another 11 months. The CCT being nearly the same for its 5 model years allows buyers an excellent opportunity to get great deals on a used one. Especially if you want a black one.

The one big plus I see with the black is that you have a blank canvas to work with. If you suddenly dream up a custom paint scheme you have minimal effort involved. Especially if you want to try your hand at painting it yourself. My last bike was the '07 liquid silver metallic and dark grey Vstar 1300. I accidently dropped an allen wrench when putting on a Kruiser Kaddy my first year with the bike and it "glanced" off the side of the tank taking a nice pen nubb sized divot out of the paint. It was impossible getting a decent touch-up on it and ended up respraying the whole tank with a rattle can of matching color from Color-Rite out of California. I followed it up, however, with the wrong type of clear (which was apparent 7 years later) but when I finished with it at the time you couldn't tell it had been repainted.

The thing is, if you have the time/space/ambition, you might be surprised what kind of custom paint scheme you could lay down yourself if you are so inclined. I've talked to folks who have easily spent over $4k for a custom paint job by a professional. To have my tank done by a professional it would have cost me over $800. I was able to have a paint shop here match the paint perfectly and got a pint of paint, the clear, etc. all for less than $150. The labor on the other hand for prepping and finishing was intensive to say the least when I got ready to trade it off. The clear I used 7 yrs ago had turned yellow and a parking ticket I got last year listed the bike color as tan rather than silver not to mention the clear was starting to peel around the edges. I ended up stripping it down to bare metal and reshooting it with primer and basecoat. Where I made a mistake was using 6 yr old reducer which caused the basecoat to wrinkle shortly after laying it down. Then graphics gave me fits after that. The biggest lesson I taught myself when repainting the tank the second time was "keep it simple stupid!".

Just my two cents worth on going with a bike that is one solid color with no metal flake involved and you can't get any simpler that gloss black.

The 2013 Cross Country Tour is with the heated grips, (low and high-heat settings), heated rider and passenger seat with separate toggle switches for the low and high-heat settings, and ABS. A possibility of a major change: It's my understanding that some transmission mods at the factory for the 2013 Cross Country Tour were in the works for both the 2012 and 2013 years, reportedly involving the "cut" of the gears for either a better or more quiet transmission operation. Not absolutely sure about that tranny topic, but it's what I've heard from other owners. Also: The 2013 Cross Country Tour, like mine, has a very nice Sunset Red which is similar to a mix of a cherry-flake color and may not be offered on other models.

The only thing that I've heard about any PROBLEM with the 106 engine was the occasional (and few) Porous Head problem, involving oil leakage. Victory reportedly covered the engine repair or replacement on those few porous-head situations.

I now have 28,000 miles on my XCT, and I bought mine new in May of 2013. I've been all over the country with it, riding 2-up mostly with heavy cargo. The only thing that I've seen as problematic is the "don't overfill the oil" issue. I can say from experience that the 106 may "puke up oil through the air box" if you do overfill it, and even if by a few ounces. I've also learned that slight "front wheel wobble" may occur in turns if your tires are not up to proper inflation, which is kind of a no brainer, and that you should always inflate the 2013 XCT air shock to about 45psi if you're hauling more than your own ass on the bike.

I enjoy the 2013 XCT very much, and I'll certainly buy another one in 2017 after I attain about 35,000 miles or so.

Bikes are not like cars.. Every year there needs to be a different model or etc.. I like how they do it color change from here to there.
