So they also added 750 RPMs over the stock rev limiter, so that explains the HP increase. All that work for so little. It's like watching somebody tear down and rebuild an entire 2nd floor of a house for 5 extra square feet rather than just remodeling. Or rebuilding an entire top end of a brand new engine for what....? It's a power placebo.

correlation doesn't imply causation...

I'm sure I can find a tuner nearby. I know the guy with all the crazy builds that @Half_Crazy usually posts videos of. He painted my bike a while ago. Super cool dude. But as far as getting ahold of quality upgrades like cams, heads... etc. lloydz is pretty much a one stop shop for anything you need and stands behind all of his products. Does hd have a go to builder that sells and stands behind product like Lloyd? I've always enjoyed how effortless and comprehensive it is to make good numbers on Vics. Just one phone call or email to lloydz. It just seems to me that Harley has so many aftermarket manufacturers, it would be a little overwhelming to know where to start and make sure I'm getting good sh!t that won't blow up for a fair price. There seems to be an endless sea of offerings for hd, which can be good if you know your way around... bad if you're just getting started.

I'm not testy, just don't like when people throw out statements that aren't in a joking manner without proof. Truth be told if you had a Harley 107 and Victory 106 at the same dyno and ran them it would be a toss up every time as to which had more torque. but have less than 1 ft lb more with 85 lbs more bike to move isn't something I would brag about.

Who keeps a bike stock today. Fact is Victory is the better bike for your wallet when it comes to motor upgrades. My stock Vic was weak when new. Harley pulled it off the line every time. On the highway I ruled. Today I rule both
$2500 for 115 hp and 115 tq is a bargain. Conquest underdrive pulley is also a great enhancement to the performance of the 106 baggers.
Less is more.

It is a strange pissing contest I'm witnessing here. Until today I never thought anyone bought a American cruiser for their power, power to weight ratio or power to cubic ratio. I thought you bought it because it looks and sounds good.
I mean, stuff like the Kawasaki H2R exists. That has 310hp in 998cc (61ci) and weighs 216kg (476lb) all stock.

It's a strange world.

Not everyone can handle the sport bike riding position, yet still want good performance. You would think someone could double the HP by doubling the displacement. 620hp bagger anyone? :hihi:

Harley is smart. High hp or not the base engine and idea are good. Only way to satisfy the EPA and still keep the meat.

Good survival tactic for the future if you ask me. But that engine really should be pumping a lot more, even stock.

I have to imagine that someone that lays down that kind of money on enhancing a bike has a mix of motivations that include both the make/model and performance. If it was all about performance there are a lot of ways he could spend the same amount of money and get better performance.

As much as we might be partisan toward one brand or another, and can make arguments why he could have spent the same dollars and gotten better performance by using a 106 as the basic platform for the bike, there was something about that particular Harley model that drove him to use that bike as the starting point that go beyond dollars spent versus HP and TQ realized.

Would I do it differently? Absolute! I keep $25K in my pocket, give $10K to my wife (prevents early death for bring home another bike) and spend the other $25K on a Indian Darkhorse, Harley Road Glide or Moto Guzzi Flying Fortress or....

The thing with Harley is they are just too complicated for maintenance and repairs. Too many wear parts and cost a lot to modify. Otherwise the nostalgia and the brand has done very well keeping the faithful well faithful.
Can one get aHarley to run like a scalded dog? Sure!
Just not as easily as you can get a Vic there.
Reliability ? Lost after 35k. Time to rebuild.
Vic 100k
Good ride and handling? It's a bagger !
Doesn't do as good as a Vic does.
Nice to look at ? Sure ! See them everywhere. I know exactly what they look like.
Vic's look great too.

The one thing the 107 has is eye appeal. Harley has always made nice eye candy. They know thats what appeals to the masses.
I will give them that.

HD has definitely had their issues but they have made improvements over the last few years. The jury is still out on the 107 and how it will hold up. That's going to be a major issue with respect to HD's future, although with Victory out of the picture it takes some of the heat off. Whether you liked Victory or Indian their presence an threat to market share put some pressure on HD to work towards improving their product.

I get it. Victory has a horrible S&S cam package that doesn't deliver like Llyodz and we all made fun of those too. My point is, this is a $6,500 package that gives you 9 extra ft lbs... It is a waste of materials and labor to even install or create that kit. But it gives the Harley guys something to tell their buddies... mines bigger than yours. Junk. If I brought my XC to Lloydz with $6,500 I would walk out with a completely different performing machine. A whole turbo kit and still have money left to pay for my trip there.

I could spend $7k and get a super charger for my otherwise stock motor and push 160 + hp.

HC was forced to a rebuild. He already had a BB motor. What choice did he have. Still a great choice. Look at the end result and the fact that he will likely run 60 to 80k miles on that build.
Never gonna happen on a TC motor and only time will tell on an M8.

Damn HC did you get to ride that beast ?
Oh yes, I have ridden it a couple of times. Once when the suspension and tires were stock(squirrely) and once after major suspension upgrades and sticky radials. It's actually fairly docile for the most part. Calculator says 10.80s thru the 1/4 mile. The coolest thing is how early it makes power and how you shift at 5500 rpm because it's done making power after that.

Cartridge forks, piggy-back shocks, all fully adjustable, Dirt bike bars, Roland Sands seat. It even has ABS and Cruise Control...

Your bike is pretty close in power and even size. What does yours pull in the 1/4. Pretty sure I remember seeing faster than 10.80

So $722 per ft lb increase or $325 per horsepower. I can think of much more lucrative ways to increase power than with this big bore kit. I think we can agree on that. If I had a Harley and brought it to you with $6,500 I would expect to leave with at least 130 ft lbs. Seems reasonable huh?
That Lowrider S made 102/124 with just the baffles drilled out and a Power Commander tune.... but it's a 110" from the factory.
The reason it makes power like it does (141/150) is the 110 heads done up by Ward and those killer Wood's cams.

One more thing....
Rusty's burgundy 2006 Dyna is only 98" and makes roughly 124-125 HP now. When we ride together we are DEAD EVEN accelerating through the gears due to the weight difference. I used to fuk him up... but I have nothin' for him any more.

This bike is fun. It will wheelie forever.
You guys do. A hell of a job HC
