The PCV with a Lloyds timing gear has been spot on in my CCT since installation. That was 11 years and 89K miles ago. They’ve proven themselves a solid setup.

This 2 into 1 side dump Graffeo exhaust looks beautiful. I like how it’s tucked in a bit compared to the similar Trask system.

I will be doing cams, timing gear and filter this winter. Im using a pc5 with a canned tune until i can put a lil more money away for maximus tune from noe
Sell that PC5. It will sell quickly. Use that money and the money you will save not buying the timing gear ( not needed with Maximus ) to pay Noe Martinez for a real tune.
with that exhaust you should pull some good torque numbers on a Dyno if you go that route. No numbers with a Maximus remote tune. Just pure seat of the pants power. You will however be around 115/115 to 120/120 in the hp Tq arena regardless.

Is the maximus tune really that good? I understand how effective direct ecm/pcm tuning can be but can number like that really com from small upgrades like filter, exhaust and tune... do i honestly need cams for that power level if i go maximus?

The numbers are with the popular Lloydz cam choice 501’s. Similar numbers with other cam choices but you will not get a huge 15 hp jump without cams. Yes the Maximus is that good with or without cams. You stated you were doing cams. With that performance pipe ….. I would definitely be installing cams.

The best tune today for Victory. You do not need cams to have a Maximus tune. Give Noe Martinez a call and he can help you get your bike tuned properly.

To add on, Lloyd's air filter, and exhaust with Maximus you're liking at 90/105 to 95/110. Drivability alone means so much more than the numbers. I don't have cams yet and I'm still enjoying the stock cams.

I agree 100% with the drivability statement. May just get my filter and get my maximus tune done.

IMHO, the answer to: "Is the maximus tune really that good? "
Yes.

No extra dangly bits hanging off bike.

No extra extra anything needed. Whatever mods you have, even with NO MODS, the MAXIMUS tune, done by someone who knows what they are doing (@NOEMTZ ) will get the most out of your current configuration. The Maximus tune can address things that a PCV, cannot. A Maximus does not need a timing wheel to help.
Now, the DOWN SIDE of a Maximus tune would be this (IMHO): If you later make significant changes/MODS, you need to do it again. The PCV might be the less expensive route in this situation, assuming you have the software and know what you are doing... :)

Two different rides have been remote tuned by Noe. They both ran superb.

Yeah. It's that good.
Ride safe,
Smokier

Maximus or PC-V having a knowledgeable tuner is key. The results can be very close to the same.

A stock XC comes in at 80ish hp. Air filter, exhaust, timing wheel and a PC-V will get you closer to 100hp and 110tq depending on the pipes and of course the tune. Unless you are light to light racing every Tom, Dick, And Harry that pulls up next to you or frequently run over 100mph the performance gain of cams won't be missed.

Everyone should have purchased the Maximus tuner box when it was available. I'd probably share my work with some of you......lol

Cams won’t be missed if you never had them on a Vic before. I would miss them. When I purchased my X1 n 2018 after riding my cammed 2011 XC for 7 years I didn’t ride the magnum much. Sure it was a nice bike to take out and show off. It still had plenty of git up and go but there was always that surge of power and torque missing that I felt on the older cammed bike. I had to have cams and certainly glad I did. Now they both get equal seat time.

My OG XCt is your run of the mill stage1, Lloydz filter, D&D mufflers and a Maximus stage1 tweeked by Noe. I haven't been beat by 2 bike lengths thru 3 gears by a XC with cams.

Even after riding the Procharged Blackwidow, my OG XCt is not lacking anything until about 90 mph, but my OG is toting the XCT trunk, so that will add drag at such speeds.

@CCP12 Depends where you live / how you ride an udp under drive pulley could be an option. Always recommend the Maximus no matter what for ridability alone

I had my 2011 CC Cammed with Lloyds as well as his air cleaner. I have Bassini 2/1 pipes and added a PCV along with the timing wheel and then had Dyno tuned. Oddly I was never really happy with the performance there just seemed to be something missing. I did witness a friends PCV fail and leave him 400 miles from home. After hearing about the same fate befalling a another bike with a PCV I decided to make the switch to Maximus. What a difference it made. The bike was way smoother at every RPM and was just more steetable and more enjoyable to ride. Best mod I've made so far and just sorry I waited so long.

Wow. Interesting about the PCV failures you mentioned. I haven’t heard of any failing like that in my Vic community. I’m on my 2nd one on my 2nd XC with no issues. Suddenly I’m looking around for some wood to knock on 😳
When I was adding upgrades years back I opted for the usual stuff except cams. I figured I didn’t need them but within about a year I wanted more from the bike. I ended up with the 505’s and immediately knew it was a good move. Plus the loping sound at idle just sounds amazing.
When I was interested in my current bike I asked the owner if it was crammed and he said “I’m not sure”. I’m thinking, how can you not know??? So I said start it up and we’ll both know. As nice as that 106 sounds without cams, she is next level with cams as far as sound and performance, in my opinion.

Just a guess but if Rylan Vos built and tuned that 116” big bore Victory, I suspect that’s as good as it gets. Period.

Most non big bore 106” bikes tend to be in the 112 to 114 for both hp and torque. That’s with cams, a Lloyd’s air filter, aftermarket mufflers and a tune (PCV or Maximus).

Those 116” 129/139 numbers are quite impressive. That’s a lot of gain for 10cc.

Lloyds super charger is gone so that engine build is now the epitome of Victory performance. His big bore cam, the 504, has been NLA for quite some time. He also barely has his variable clutch or even his 116” kits available any longer either. An aftermarket clutch is essential for a big bore Victory.

Fortunately the Revolution Performance 117” Nikasil lined cylinder kits are available as are their heads. Both on an exchange basis. But without a Lloyds variable clutch, another option will hopefully come forward.

Noe Martinez can set up a big bore and set you up with the right clutch. The stock clutch will support 120/120 so possibly just a stiffer spring is all that’s needed. I remember if I’m not too delusional that HC / Half Crazy ran his BB on a stock clutch with just a stiffer spring. That man pulled wheelies of the line on Old Yeller.

That’s quite different to what Rylan recently posted regarding his aftermarket clutch.
