Hello everyone. I know this is crazy because forums are basically filled with questions about problems people are having with their new bikes but the more I read on about all the problems everyone is having with there new Cross bikes the more I hope I didn't make a big mistake but trading my Yamaha Roadstar in on my 2012 CC. I never had any problems with my 06 roadstar and after seeing how my wife loved her 2012 Vegas I made the move to Victory in hopes that I traded up to a high quality american made bike. So far I really like the bike. The fuel gauge seems to be erratic and it does seem to run a little hotter than my Roadstar. The Vic. also seems to make a little more engine noise and shakes a little more than normal past 80 mph. but to be fair she only has approx. 1700 miles on her and obviously she isn't really even broken in yet. I do love the radio, cruise, fairing, and storage space, and in general she rides great. Only time will tell, but I'll keep my fingers crossed in hopes that my new victory will be as reliable as my Yamaha Roadstar and Roalstars were. I was hoping that my Cross Country would be the last bike that I'll ever purchase . Any how I'll keep my fingers crossed and put some serious milles on her. Best of luck to all. Ride on!

First of all, just ride the bike and quit worrying. You have made it past 1000 miles on the bike, if there were a defect it would have shown itself by now. Not that nothing will ever break on the bike, but the serious stuff should be ok. As for the noise you are hearing on the forums, you need to understand that the X bikes are by far the most popular, so most of the chatter will be about them. Also, most of the complaints are related to paint and finish issues, and you mention nothing about this being a problem for you. No bike is going to be guaranteed bullet proof, but the overwhelming opinion is that the Vic is a good scooter. Rob

Relax, have fun ,i had no problems with my 2012 Hardball, wife no problems with her 2012 CCT,Just a squealing belt on both bikes & that comes from the dirt road we live on.
I had both bikes up to 115 & havent had any excesive shaking, vibration,
Enjoy your ride,ride safe,

Forums are where people come to vent and *****. I'm not saying there are not individual cases of problems but, I think you'll find that there are very few real issues that are shared by more than a few individuals.
My advice, do more riding and less reading. enjoy your motorcycle it is a quality piece of equipment and will serve you well for a long long time.

I only have 2500 miles so far on my 3 month old XR, but so far no issues to speak of. Bike runs great and is very comfortable. I'll be taking a 1500+ mile extended weekend ride in the next few weeks and if anything goes wrong I'll be sure to complain about it on this forum.

Thanks for the replies. As you probably noticed I'm kind of a worriesome person. I'm not raising the white flag by any means but this was a very expensive venture and I get a little up tight when I saw so many problems posted. I really appreaciate your reassurance. Don't beat me up too badly LOL just a little nervous especially since most of my friends ride H.D.'s and can't waite to pounce on me if I have any problems.

I would rest easy then, You can start by asking them how much their last oil change cost them...lol

When I purchased my Vic. All my H.D. friends thought that I would be Converting over to H.D. I have nothing bad to say about their bikes, they are all really sharp. But I really fell in love with the Vic. styling and what they had to offer for the price. So I'm kind of the other guy in the pack. Well no matter what you ride. Love it Ride it and be safe. Thank you all for your comments. Chuck

I appreciate where your coming from as the Vic was my first new bike out of 19 previous bikes, mostly yamaha viragos and a kwaka 1600 nomad.

Deciding to buy new was a big move for me but it was time.

Sure had both side gaskets weeping oil - fixed under warranty
Abs speed sensor rubbing at times making noise - fixed under warranty

minor issues and 3000 miles on still love my Vic.

I did question my decision with the issues i had and after bouncing around some kwaka forums, even they not immune to issues.

I done my research thorougly before buying the Vic and there is enough bikes out there with huge milage that are still going strong.

My advice, enjoy the ride and accept vics have character and will look after you as well as you look after it :)

10k miles on my XCT; no issues, and she runs like s dream...43-45 mph. The Freedom 106 does run a bit warm, she is a firm shifter, and she makes a bit more engine noise than the typical east asian bike...but think about it as the roar of the king of the beasts. One or two up you won't becout performed or disappointed!

Keep in mind, people come on these forums and make a topic when they are having an issue, not everyone comes on here and says "10K miles no issues", but if someone has a problem you can bet it will be spoken a few times....

If the few probs people have with vics scares you, good thing you didnt buy an HD, my buddy Johns bought an 05 HD brand new 88" twin cam motor, 4K miles and it blew out the cam bearings, took out the motor, and then again at 11K, lol.. Next he buys a 10 or 11{103" TC} I cant remember if it was a left over or an 11, that motor starts to have huge blow by issues at 8K miles, turns out after a leak down test rings are bad, they change the rings, 800 miles later more blow by, turns out the cylinders are out of round.. They fix all of that and the tranny is on its way out as we speak... But he is buying another HD!!! The dealership told him just drive it until your new bike comes in and then we will take it as a trade and fix it ourselves.... If you think that is bad before I knew him he bought a brand a new 95 fat boy that leaked primary fluid out and caused him to crash on the way home from the dealership!!! He obviously hasnt had all bad luck, he said his 99 roadking went 70+K miles with no issues at all, just oil changes and tires, and he got $13K for the trade in when he bought the 05, not too bad$13K for a 6 year old bike with 70K on it !!!!!!

But anyway, all bikes have an issue here and there, I have bought and owned a lot of them, just ride and dont worry until you are pushing...

I've owned 6 Vics and the ONLY problem I've ever had is a broken clutch cable. I currently have an '11 XC and an '11 XR. 13,000 on one and 23,000 on the other and so far BULLETPROOF. Quit worrying, they are no Roadstars. I owned one of them too and wouldn't think of ever trading one of my X bikes on a Roadstar or any other Yamaha or even Harley.

Did you ever read the Yamaha forums? Suzuki, Honda, HD? If you let people's complaints on a social forum sway your thoughts and concers, life may be difficult for you.

Thank you all for straightening me out. I needed a little slap in the face to wake me up. About a year and a half ago I had a little bout with cancer and it kind of shook me up. Still trying to screw my head back on straight. Your messages helped do that . Safe riding to all.

CSPAN. . . I understand completely. . .I'm also new to the Victory bikes. . .I've ridden Honda, Kawasaki, BMW and H-Ds and discovered that they ALL had unique engine sounds and some eventually had mechanical issues.
I'm still breaking in my 2013 XCT and I've had a good time getting to know it and it's sounds. One of the reasons we like the v-twin engine platforms (at least for me) is the sound that it makes. . . I"ve sat on my porch and listened as a distant v-twin motorcycle thundered up the interstate, sounding much like an old radial-engine airplane--music to my ears! But hearing one roar by is a much different experience than sitting on top of that same engine with a fairing reflecting every noise made by the gears, chains, rockers and valves etc. Try this experiement sometime: have a trusted friend ride YOUR bike down the road and listen to it as it goes by--you'll likely find the sounds you're noticing as the rider have disappeared.
We may have problems with our bikes--they ARE mechanical things built by man, but I did enough research before buying that I'm confident that the Vics are mostly ahead of H-D in design and reliability. At some point after I get some trips under my belt, I intend to write a review comparing the XCT with my ex-HD ElectraGlide Ultra. BTW, if you wanna talk engine heat, the Ultra Classic was the HOTTEST motorcycle I've EVER ridden. . . .I literally stopped and got off the bike on two occasions 'cause I thought my pants had caught fire!
In closing, my advice is this: we have a two-year warranty on these bikes. I suggest putting as many miles as possible on your bike and within the bounds of reason, try to make it break. If it breaks, it's covered by warranty. --Rob

If you beat a bout with cancer, I think you should be thanking the good Lord for every mile you take on that bike.

Glad to hear you're OK. Be safe and go ride!

I have no idea what it's like to battle cancer personally. I went through it as an adult son with my father, but his was terminal and he was such a strong Individual he was good with that and was a positive influence to all around him. I can only imagine the mental/emotional healing that takes place long after the physical battle is won. Thank The Lord for healing your body and stay positive. Let the new bike be therapy not a source of stress.
