Had my XCT for a week now and like many others I have read here my fuel gaugedoes not seem to work very well nor the range on the digital read out.

On my VTX I can safely use my low fuel light andit very accurate at letting meknow I have a gallon left in the tank. Can I use the low fuel light on the XCT and count onit being fairly close? Seems silly we have fuel gauge, range... andcannot use them.

Or do I need to just goby miles?

My suggestion is to run down to the fuel light, fill up & see what it takes. For example my 2010 XC, the fuel light comes on at 1/8th of a tank mark. I fill up and it takes 4.0 gal. When it settles on the Empty mark, it takes 4.8. And I watch the average MPG which runs about 4 MPG high, usually get 200 miles or more on a tank. Oh ya, I have also 'punched' the filler neck to get more gas in it.

I agree with rdeerx my xroads is the same i have .8 of a gallon in the tank when i have the light turn on, and when i fill i put four gallons. gauges work off of resistance and not gallons they are never accurate. i found that my truck has a 24 gallong tank but when i get toa quater tank i only have four gallons left in the tank if i trust that i have a 16 gallong tank. like i said never accurate.

its blowing my mind that this is brought up almost every day,its a fact that the fuel gauges on this bike, in my case 2012 xct, are not accurate, doesnt bother me 1 bit, run the bike to light, fill up and do the math, simple solution compared to taking it to your dealer for them to tell you its normal, blah, blah, blah, not to mention risk of your bike getting scratched with the carelessness of the mechanic because he is frustrated he has to deal with customers that cry about their gauge being off when he knows there is nothing he can do to fix the prob, i will never take my bike to these victory mechanics in wisconsin, they have no clue, i will be riding down to RYLAN from the vic shop in iowa, the only true victory mech, throw some pipes, cams, power commander V, and hi flow air filter, i talked to RYLAN on phone, he reccomended what i could do with the amount of money i want to spend, wont spend much and when done, my xct will be pushing 106-107 hp with 115 lbs torque at rear, i'm about torque not hp

When I picked up my new Cross Roads last year the dealer told me straight up that the fuel gauge would stay on full for a long time then drop like a rock. He explained that it was because the fuel pump had to stay submerged for cooling. It turns out that it is not as bad as he said. The gauge drops pretty evenly and the low fuel warning goes off with about a gallon and a half left in the tank. To me its the electronic version of the reserve fuel valve. I don't see it as a flaw or a problem, I think it's just the nature of the design and the shape of the tank.

Yea.. mine stays at full for a long time the bam! Half. But when it hits half..it is half. I feel it is pretty accurate all the way down to "E".
The lowest I ever ran my tank was while I pulled a trailer last summer. Low fuel light came on at 140 miles. The next gas station was futher than I thought. I pulled in at 180 miles and squeezed in 5.9 gallons of gas...
So pulling a trailer, and coasting down mountain passes...I get 40 miles after the light comes on.

I have a 2012 XCT and have had Fuel Gauge and Low Fuel Light issues since day 1. Bottom line, when my LFL comes on, I have 2.5 gallons left vice 1.0 gallons per owner's Manual and Polaris TECH's initially told me. Fuel Gauge readings are completely out to lunch, Empty doesn't coorelate to LFL, nor does the amount of gas in tank and the 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, etc. Had my tank filled with exactly 5.9 gallons and emptied by my Dealer a couple times, and found many discrepencies too. Only after a couple months, many phone calls and emails to Polaris did they finally one TECH said the LFL on with 2.5 gallons was intentially done so that we don't run our tanks so low to burnout our Fuel Pumps. There are NO Tech Bulletins from Polaris out on this, nothing in the OM, and have contacted several Victory Dealers in CA, NV,and AZ, and NONE of them knew of this.

And, on top of this Polaris refused to reimburse my Dealer for troubleshooting my bike even though it is still under Warranty.

Thus far, NOT impressed with Polaris/Victory Technical and Customer Service Depts. I would have expected more for a $22k USA Made Bike and Company.

Mine is extremely acurate. I ride to 170-175 miles and the light comes on. I than ride it to 200 miles and fill up. I always have 1.5 gallons left. It's just like any gas gauge, including a car, it's a reference.

Well for whatever reason my fuel gauge now it working like I think it should, it took a 3-4 fill ups but now it starts at full and trickles down like a normal gauge. Not sure how long it will last but there is definitely something screwy with theses fuel gauges.
