Crew change is finally here. I get off the boat tomorrow and fly from Mexico on Thursday. The local shop opens at 9 and I'll be there getting my bike by 9:01 Friday morning. I am excited to ride her again after three months. The damage from my nephew laying it down was minor, but I am wondering if it will still feel the same or if in the back of my mind it will be like damaged goods (no longer pristene) Has anyone ever felt like that after wrecking a new bike? I am sure once I crack that throttle rolling down the highway with the ground pounders I will forget all about it being dropped. If not all the planned motor upgrades and the many cosmetic add ons and painting I got planned I will soon be over it. Here's to hoping we got good Florida weather Friday morning. I am so ready to ride and destress from 28 days of shear madness......

Dude, I had a yahoo pull out of a parking lot, between stopped traffic right across my lane as I was slowing for a light. It took a $13K check from the kids insurance and Ric Fairless close to 3 months to get the front end back together. It can be done! Ive put about 8000 miles on it since then! Just get one it and go. Cheers.

The only thing better than how a Highball looks is how it RIDES. Enjoy, Captain!
How in the heck do you go for 28 days without riding your Highball? I would be stir crazy for sure!
Ride safely, and set off a few alarms with those ground pounders!

**** happens,,, the important thing is she'll be ready and waiting when you get there. enjoy your time on the mainland !

Don't sweat it..

If the frame's good, the motor's good, the rest of the drive-train is good, the forks are good, etc etc.
The rest is ancillary and can be replaced easy enough.

Have fun 'ballin'.

As soon as you crack that throttle and get the ear to ear grin all the damage thoughts will go away!!
PS I'm jealous, is it March yet?
Quick update, I guess I shouldn't of bragged about the warm Florida winters, lol This morning was a brisk 57*. I picked the bike up, got all my spare parts loaded in the wifes SUV and told her to wait while I was inside paying the bill. She misunderstood me and drove off with my leather jacket, gloves, and helmet. It was a bit nippy in a tee shirt. Anyway on to the good stuff, I love the sound of the ground pounders. It changes how you place your right foot at red lights, because that exhaust hits right were I used to keep my foot. No biggie, just place it a little wider or further back. I know it probably lost some low end torque changing from my 2 into 1 but I couldn't tell it in the seat of my pants. It does have a lot of popping on decel at the moment. No biggie ,right just throw on the timing wheel, wrong. The ground pounders block the upper rear bolt on the cam cover. Since I am taking it to Kevin to have cams installed in a couple of weeks I am not going to remove the exhaust twice. I will just wait until then, no since in buying a set of exhaut gaskets now and have to do it again in two weeks. I bet you think I rode all day right, wrong my daughter has finally closed on her house, so I spent the day moving her out, and tomorrow my son is moving out so most of tomorrow will be spent in the uhaul truck. I have not wasted the night however. I have installed my tool bag left swing arm, derby and cam cover, smooth shift, cheese wedge badges, iso grips with 1/4 turn throttle, figured out where I am going to mount my wolo horn (where old oil cooler used to be). I have smoked the rear tail light lense. Removed struts and sissy bar, and the first 2 coats should be dry enough to apply the third here shortly.I think I'll pause after they are finished and try and get in a ride Sat night or Sunday. Next week I have the speedo and bracket left to black out. Remove the new front forks install lower dust boots (forget the official name) then black out the upper fork and bolt' then install. Once that is completed I will get started on the wheels,( bright lime green awaits) So much to do, I already have used up three days of my 28,lol Oh I almost forgot, by the second redight this morning I had forgotten all about it being wrecked. I did find the turn signals don't work. The flashers do but no signals. I know they repalced that whole left housing. I may open it up just to see it is is a simple fix, don't want to take it back to them, they may keep it another two weeks. Going paint, see ya

Kids all moved out, got the Wolo horn mounted tonight, I put it where the old oil cooler was. I tested it out in the garge, the wife heard it inside the house from her bedroom. That bad boy is loud. Between the pipes and the horn you'll know I am coming. It is time for some relaxation. Tomorrow give the highball a much needed bath, then some pics of my changes and off for a good long ride. Wednesday they are calling for 30* temps, how dare they this is florida
