I went with the tri-ovals stage one kit, love the look but want a little more sound. Please excuse my ignorance but can you add headers while running the tri-ovals? Or can you purchase just the pipes forward of the muffler from a full exhaust system? Last question, is there anything I can do to the tri-ovals to make them a little louder?

To my knowlegde there isnt anyone making just performance headers. You either have to buy a full exhaust system or slip-on's.

The stock headers on a XR, XC, and Magnum are top notch performance items. With the cats in them they out perform everything else available. The mufflers can be replaced or modified and still perform excellently. The triovals can be made to be a little more louder, a lot more louder, and so loud that idle is too loud. Pick your poison.

Headers have nothing to do with the sound.
Take the tip off the muffler and shorten the baffle
