Dunlop is launching a new tire in the Elite series. a Clip from Cruiser :

Available in both bias and radial construction to fit different motorcycles, the Elite 4’s MT technology in the rear tire uses a tough, long-wearing compound in the center of the tire for longer tread life, and special lateral compounds along the outside edges of the tread for cornering grip. Unique to Dunlop in the cruiser and touring tire market, Multi-Tread gives riders the best of both worlds: outstanding mileage and handling.

The E4 also features a completely new tread pattern with multiple advantages. First, it offers excellent grip in both wet and dry conditions—especially important for riders who don’t let a little downpour stop them. Second, the tread is designed to provide even wear from center to shoulder for consistent handling as the miles add up. And third, both front and rear patterns were designed to limit road noise for a quieter ride.

Included in the E4’s broad size range are tires for Honda Gold Wings. Gold Wing riders will note that engineers targeted specific goals for the E4 in GL1800 sizes. As a result, the front tire is designed to wear more evenly over time, increasing usable tire life, while the rear tire boosts mileage by five percent over Dunlop’s E3 Multi-Tread tire and is significantly quieter.

Damn, so I will be changing rears before I find out how long my snow tire lasts! But the front? Sorry, but I love my Pirelli Angel GT too much to let it go.

I like the E3 so hopefully the E4 will be as good or better.

It is about time for a new shoe on the back of Ole Blue, First look price was $209.00 for a rear radial. if it hold up to the massive torque and handles it will be a keeper.

The Elite 3's on my bike have a little over 14,000 miles on them and will need replaced soon. I was looking forward to these new 4's coming out but now I see Dunlop's $40/PR rebate expired and is replaced with a $50/PR Pro rebate. It looks like you need to buy from a "Pro" dealer with a service to qualify. I don't know exactly what pro means but I mail order and mount them myself. I might have to rethink my options if mail order tires don't qualify for the rebate.

Still have original tyres which are starting to cup. The fairing on the CCT creates a sound chamber which accentuates tyre noise from the front end.

Now have the tyre noise mentioned in other threads when I crank the bike over in bends. It's annoying.

Will try these down the track especially if they are quieter, wet weather and mileage performance Is improved.

Looking forward to any reviews.

My orogional E3's are still looking good after 15,000+ miles (24140.16 Kilometers)

Looks like an easy 5,000 more.

The original owner had put tires on just before I picked up the bike. I got 12K from the rear E3 , but it was a racing slick when I pulled it. No chord showing, but no groves left either. I notice a major difference right away with the Cobra. When applying the back brake hard or applying and downshifting at the same time, the ABS is not engaging now. The Avon is definitely sticking better and not wanting to slide. And this is apples to apples, because the E3 was doing this from new.

Magvic, You have a great tire in the Avon but there is no way you are going to see 12K on it. I have not gotten more than 9 on mine and as low as 5K.
I never got more than 8,8k on a E3 rear and only 7,8k on my last. Have Avon's on now and wow. Time will tell as far as mileage

I was vassilating between the AV72 and the Excedra Max. I've had a full set of Max's on another heavy cruiser/tourer and was very very happy with the handling and the wear. If I remember the rear was good for about 13K, the front almost twice that. What impressed me most about these tires is that they wore Very evenly and the handling just never changed. A very consistent tire. For the CCT the Excedra would have had a 65 instead of a 60 profile. Just a hair taller. That was no issue and neither was the load rating of 77 vs 80. I just kind of went with the Avons because I haven't tried them yet and I hear good things. As said, time will tell.

.I don't know about Shinko, although they do have a rear tire for the CCT with the load rating and all. Have you seen the ad where Shinko talks about their new tire with the Reflective stripe around the tire? Like the idea.

Went to Vic of Mesa today and scheduled a rear tire change today and no E4 to be had so it's another E3 at just under 16,000 miles no complaints from me and it still has quite a bit of life left. By the end of May I'm adding an easy 3000 so it's time.

I'm interested to hear reports on how these E4s perform. As I have a laced wheel bike I have a bias E2 on the front and a radial E3 on the back. The E4s might be just the ticket.
